WvW actually worse now ...
Some of the performance change is related to the network I think.
The Guildwars2 API used to have a latency between 40-60ms and this was rock solid for the most. Now it’s more between 200-500ms with very frequent spikes both ways down to 60ms or up to 2000ms and anything in between.
The game crashes all the time in big battles. I thought Arenanet would get that information in the form of “metrics”?
I have not tested yet but some have possibly tracked it down to problems with “High-Res Character Textures” and some have found relief by making sure this is unchecked.
Update: I did not have this checked in the first place so it must be something else.
After today’s latest update, I saw no documentation dealing with crashes and lag but I think they sneaked something in because there was no game breaking lag tonight.

Is something related with another players models, because with lowest setting nothing happen, but my FPS drops even in lower when i have more than 10ppl in the screen after the patch.
For the inability to stomp, I believe this is carrying over to other things. Yesterday I was completing my dailies when I came across the chest with the scritt burgler. I killed him and returned to pick up the loot he drops on the way and could not interact with any of the loot bags. I believe this is an issue that is related to not being able to stomp. There was another player nearbye and he had the same issue. He asked me, “can you pick these loot bags up”. I replied “No, must be a bug”. He replied back, “nah, its a ‘feature’”.

Are you changing chars? I thought I had that problem, then realised I had to set each chars default finishers.
This is the information we players got served while waiting for the amazing feature pack:
“We’ve changed the way many of the underlying systems work, making them more cost-effective, which will reduce how often players will be seeing issues caused by performance. This is most notable in large combat situations like WvW and at the PvE world boss events. These improvements affect both the server and client performance, so in these situations, you should see increased frame rates as well!”
Well, with WvW’s current state it’s almost unplayable now, so GG.
I hate to hijack this thread but since the September patch, the game did not promise performance improvements in PvE.
In fact, it has gotten WORSE, especially on large group zergs on dragon events. I have mentioned that in this thread: Game Bugs: MASSIVE desynchronized issue in-game
Turning off the High Res Textures didn’t do anything for me, and I’ve messed around with all of the options with no luck. ISP says nothing is wrong and all the tests I’ve run show everything is fine on my end. It’s so bad right now that my dude doesn’t even feel motivated to stomp anyone. He just stands there over a dude that’s bleeding out as everyone warps around him and tries to figure out why none of his skills are going off.
Massive skill lag (delays then sometimes fast motion catch ups) and rubber banding. I ran both speedtest and pingtest.net with the game running, no issues. My FPS never dropped below 40 fps during these huge lag spikes.
This combination: massive skill lag plus fast motion catch ups, is consistent with bursts of TCP/IP packet drops of packets sent by the server, presumably due to bandwidth policing done by the upstream router in the NCSoft data center. Note that if the packets were being held in the server and metered out, the fast motion catch ups wouldn’t occur. If it were an individual’s internet connection, the experience wouldn’t be widespread as described. If it were policing of traffic from NCSoft as a whole, it wouldn’t be so specific to WvW (presumably due to O(n^2) updates when n people are in one fight.
Oh, one simpler explanation: there’s a shallow buffer switch just upstream of the servers, and the server is overwhelming the switch’s buffer space (causing packet drop storms) during those large WvW fights. This seems unlikely, because those switches have fast upstream ports as well, unless someone were so misguided as to configure bandwidth policing for 1/nth of the uplink(s) for each of n servers, at that switch, which could also cause such drops.

Problems where the server and client disagree on the location of an object are really ugly, both for the player and for the dev to debug. If this disagreement is due to lag, the devs in the Anet office will never see it, because their test setup is local.
So, no RED response about FPS drops and performance? Anet is just kicking ppl out of this game. JB!!!!
Can you just like, undo whatever the hell you did to “boost performance?” It obviously had the opposite effect.
I was running around with 9 FPS in fights last night, even when the enemy zerg was only 20-30, which has never been an issue for me before.
My ele is unplayable now since I’m lagging too much to see where the tag is moving to for water fields, nevermind actually getting there when my screen is a freeze frame picture show.

I have noticed that it is almost impossible to hit anyone with a ballista now unless they are standing absolutely still. Any movement and the shot will end up behind the person. Even if the person is moving directly across your fov without making any effort to dodge the bolt ends up behind and will not hit.
Wonder if this will get any update…clearly the optimization fixes did more harm than good.

So after the recent update (just minutes before) it has become alot worse. Huge lag spikes and got a disconnect after 20 min or so.
Whatever you tried it made things worse.
And next Disconnect. I hope you can find the cause for this. Unplayable at the moment.
Before this patch I didn’t have any DC since season start.
Last night on NA T1 EBG there was significant skill lag (far more than there has been in recent months, even when the map is queue’d), and some players were experiencing significant delays (5-10+ seconds) before the option to stomp or res a downed opponent/ally would appear. Some players were unable to get the option to stomp/res to appear at all.
Sounds like a Anet standard to me!
Getting massive lag spikes in WvW, game freezes and drops down to 1 fps. Happens at random times and mostly during fights but it doesn’t matter if fighting a zerg or a group of 5 or less. Before feature patch I’ve never had this problem and only time I saw lag before patch was a 3 way in SM lords room or frames drop a little when a zerg is around. Nothing like the lag spikes Im getting now
I have a weird bug after this patch, My FPS has dropped atrociously so bad that I deleted GW and am currently reinstalling, Thought it potentially had something to do with my graphic card but its strictly GW 2 only.
I am running 3570k and AMD Radeon 7970.
GW 2 reports that I am running at about 100 FPS, however it legit feels like 10-15 its freezing when I turn the screen its all choppy and definitely isn’t 100 FPS. Its so drastically bad that WvW is just unplayable (still redownloading the 20+GB so not sure if this will resolve it.)
Just updated AMD drivers as well, didn’t resolve anything set it to performance and set all settings to lowest as possible can’t resolve this issue.
I would not call it worse, some parts have gotten better. Before patch we had random dc all the time were commanders and half the group would vanish in the middle of fights every 5 min or so, those are better, not gone, but better.
How ever the skill lag is not good, is worse until a point nearly unplayable. I am on a gold server, we fight servers with huge blobs, and last night it was next to unplayable for me. Skillag was horrible and at the time my fileds went off the group was half way across the map or dead and they mostly blasted the mudd. Don’t know how many times i call out the waterfield and absolutely nothing happen except for my bar blinking like a Christmas tree.
About the disabling thingy, well it is not a bad idea, but it is being abused and again especially on a gold server, your siege is disabled to the end.
In a keep or tower the siege on the wall is disabled by attackers, and siege outside by the defenders, and defending a keep with disabled siege were you can not banner the lord at all is just way to much. I get the banner of the lord, i been in a fight in enemies garrison that we took an then trolled them and bannered the lord 68 times , it is silly, but why remove that totally? Why not make the bannering harder, as in put a buff on the lord, to make it harder. Removing it all just makes it easier to take.

Been getting bad FPS drops since the September feature pack came out, seems to happen randomly, whether there is a zerg around or not. It’s like…… “You want to look around the map when nothing is going on? Here! Have a bowl full of lag.”
Almost never had lag before the update, I would get FPS drop when there was a big WvW battle going on like…. 40 vs 40 or a 3-way battle over a keep. But that’s to be expected with the number of people involved, and even then I didn’t have rubber banding or huge amounts of skill lag.
I’m going to cheat on Guild Wars 2 some more with Planetside 2.

I have a couple specifics, just look around these forums. How about Siege Disablers? How about the tournament achievement issue? How about the “lord banner” issue? How about the WvW EXP issue?
As I see it, WvW is in TRUE DANGER. After all, WvW is now the ONLY reason for individual server sanctity. Not even guilds are ‘bound’ to specific servers now!
So what’s to stop ANET from just eliminating WvW? There’s no real reason to “chose a server” now. After all we have MegaServers, and EOTM…!
WvW players, proceed with extreme caution / prejudice – WvW may be slowly on it’s way out the door (they’ve already shown that it is NOT a top priority, even though for many players, myself included, it’s pretty much the ONLY reason they play)!

Same story here. Unplayable WvW for me (FSP server). Yesterday I had some disconnects, rollerbanding and FPS drops from 50 fps to 1-13fps (sometimes even freezing for 2-3 secs). Pre patch I had no problems (25-50 fps) and it’s definitely not my ISP.
EDIT: Tested it some more this morning and apparently all my problems are gone. Yesterday the High Res trick didn’t work while changing maps etc. Maybe restarting did the trick. Performance is even better

The finisher and miniature slots reset if you dye your armor/outfit.
Issues with skill lag still abound.
Whatever patches you’ve been pulling in WvW taking it down have not resolved it.
Not sure what you are talking about, performance improvements announced by Anet consistently deliver the same experience for over 2 years now.
To sum up wvw in T4 and above = BLOBLOBLOBLOBLOB. Happens in some servers in the lower tiers as well but the frequency of blobs and zerging in these upper tiers is just insane.
Whole guilds have been moving.. not moving servers, but moving to other games and I can attest to this. :p We need some revolutionary changes in this current RvRvR setup. I honestly love the community/server I am in right now because I have made alot of friends here and the company of friends is great. But WvWvW has got to change it’s becoming too stale.

I’ve been getting longer and more frequent lag hits, as well as less overall FPS with the same settings in crowded encounters.
I could use some impostors replacing enemy models in WvW.

Why is WvW lagging so much? Haven’t played WvW for two weeks.
Each time I attack game starts lagging and players start rubber banding allover the map.
recently I am not playing much for many reasons, today I tried to take a trip into WvW lagged out badly a couple of times, logged out: total ingame time, probably 10 minutes.

Rubber banding, characters ‘ice skating’ when applying swiftness (character glitches so that the animation stops, and the character just slides along the ground at top speed, both your own and others at random) and unexpected fall damage deaths from jumping on slopes/staircases. (Jump down, take 1/3rd fall damage, lock up for a second, then scream and die.) All of these have been limited to WvW for me. I have not seen them in open world PVE.
It really messes things up as bad positioning get’s you killed, because the rubberbanding leaves you in the middle of AOE or a melee train, which usually means bye bye happiness.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Interesting. I certainly don’t doubt you, I’ve just never had it happen to me outside of WvW. Whatever it is that causes it must just show up more. Drives me nuts to be jumping down the stairs in a tower and suddenly die for no reason. (I guess my character fatally turns her ankle? Mom always told us not to play on the stairs.)

Don’t you people know? It’s never Anet’s fault, it is OUR computers that are the problem, it is OUR Internet speeds that are the problem. We just need $4000 gaming rigs and 500MB Download, 150MB Upload speeds for our internet. Everything should be within normal range then.
if you are from Asia and playing on NA servers, and your GW2 is lagging, it is not ANET’s fault. there is a problem with Asia America Gateway undersea cable that cause most ISP to reroute the connection to USA, hence causing the delay in skill execution.

Getting dcs every night now. It comes on a sudden lag spike then code 7 appears. I have a 30mb internet, and playing with a VPN (wtfast) – my connection to the game is stable, no spikes nothing BUT the game indeed disconnect me.
have noticed increased skill lag across the board in WVW. Ride The lightning is unusable – it even overshoots barely-moving grey fauna targets.
Its about time to host the EU servers in EU and asia servers in asia.
Its not like it would be that much more expensive, nowadays…
Its an insult to your fanbase outside of the US.
EU servers are hosted in EU.
