what about the nice 1 question polls they give us randomly and the “balancing” of points crap lol.
In GW1 (before more recent changes) there was this PVP area called Hall of Heroes, the territory (like Asia, Europe, America) that won in there won the “favor of the gods” and allowed all the players that belonged there to kneel in front of god statues and get buffs. And some statues allowed access to the hardest PVE zones in the game (Underworld/Fissure of Woe) which were also used to get a unique armor skin (Obsidian Armor)
Similar concept they used in the next Campaign (Factions) where only the alliance that controlled one of the capital cities had access to the unique dungeons under them. So the best alliance of the Luxon Faction claimed Cavalon (the capital of the Luxons) and only them had access to the Deep (the elite dungeon of the Luxons)
Over the years they turned away of that concept and added multiple ways of entering those dungeons without favor and without an alliance claiming a city. However, a mechanic like that could work in GW2.
Even before GW2 was released I was wondering if they’d do the same in GW2 only this time instead of territories they could have entire Servers. So when one server dominates the others in some way in WvW, it gets access of a new PVE dungeon/zone that allows players to get Legendary armor.
In other games that I’ve seen this in action it failed miserably because there were 2 factions and the players decided to rotate access to the dungeon instead of fighting for it, making the PVP experience dull and uninteresting. GW2 solves this problem already by having 3 servers, when one server is allowed into the dungeon, the other two can continue fighting and keep the PVP experience going.
Very hard to balance, very hard to do right, I’m sure they have higher priorities for WvW, but if they managed to do it, it could help the game a lot.

As much as I hate the fact that Anet haven’t given WvW any chance to get their own unique legendary backpacks or legendary armor, I must give them credit for adding in reward tracks. We waited soooooooooooooooooo long, but I’m glad they finally put them in.
And as much as I hate the fact it’s been soooo long since we had a WvW season, I’m still hoping Anet gives WvW some more love.
I’d like to see legendary armor and backpacks for WvW, since GW2 shouldn’t always revolve around PvP and Raids, but only time will tell. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually, it’s just WvW isn’t as loved I guess.
I was playing a bit of WvW and made me remember a really old game called Ragnarok Online.
If anyone ever played it,……..
Is this kind of concept too far fetched to the future of WvW in GW2?
keep your fingers crossed
before i reply here, once upon a time i was a SinX dual dagger icepick/quad-dopple MG Emperium breaker back then
now, you can’t make WvW only a weekly event within certain time, it was designed for a 24/7 match due to its being an international server
you don’t want Divinity’s Reach or Rata Sum or other cities be claimed by 1 and only powerful guild and have the economy on that city (tax on npc merchant) be harvested by that guild until its claimed by another guild… do you?
RO’s WOE represented the name Guild Wars
even its predecessor RO2 cant even be compared to the glory that RO had
take a look to my thread, you’ll be nostalgic to WOE when you see it

Yup they didn’t even mention WvW in the last AMA on reddit and although it wasn’t I still asked a question about Legendary Armor and Back item, Triumphant Hero’s armor and Mistforged Hero’s Weapon reward tracks with no reply from Anet. I mean the Triumphant Hero armor was showcased in the trailer.

Yep. Anet don’t like to commit resources to replayable content.

Yep. Anet prefer to commit resources to play-it-once content.
I was a player who enjoyed Ragnarok Online quite a bit back in the days.
But I don’t think the special dungeon locked behind WOE winner is a good design. It promoted the whole scene being dominated by 3-4 big guilds.
