The problem is that they keep repeating the same kitten mistake by not easing us into changes or simply doing a little polling. If Anet had posted “Do you want to change reset to Saturday?” a month ago and gotten 80% yay then maybe we could have seen this coming.

But no, WvW apparently stand for Anets world vs our world. We shouldnt have to fight them, but here we are.

I don’t think that the saturday reset is bad move and I don’t care about it. There will be more players (aka weekend warriors) around. Many players could go outside to enjoy a friday nightlife with their friends now. Of course, I feel sad for our ocx-players, I know a bunch of them who are dedicated defenders of the borderlands.

If you fear that the karma-friday become a karma-saturday, then it’s up to you real world versus world players to deny such request.
Defend structures, crash your zerg into the opposite karmatrain, hunt them until they log off or fight back. Work together to fight such behavior, save the normal wvw gameplay of your Tier. Don’t be worry or sad if you lost players because of that, they aren’t worth to lose a single tear, comrades. The whole idea of karmatrains in wvw belongs into the trash can of the history. I never understand why commanders have started this at all? You have now the unique chance to change it.

Karma trains were started on Friday nights before reset as a way for the WvW community to come together and chill out a little. It became hijacked by PvEers looking for easy loot. Guilds then came together to farm karma trainers because they ruined what the WvW community had, pushing out those PvE karma trainers (mostly failing due to ANet’s own ineptitude at keeping WvW a hardcore game mode).

Current karma trains don’t happen because of any organisation to karma train. The current karma trains happen because no one cares to chase people down whose sole motivation is to farm some loot from NPCs. We form up 10-15 people to chase down 30-40 karma trainers, and then what? They disappear onto other maps to continue the hunt for some crappy loot. That’s not how we want to spend our Saturday evenings (OCX – Saturday mornings NA).

So you know what will happen? People will try and fight a while on Saturday evenings, but after a while, people will stop trying. There’s nothing to fight for for the PPT guilds since the scores are already decided, so there’s no targets for the fight guilds. With no fight guilds stopping karma trains, the karma trains start back up.

This is overall such a bad idea. If ANet wants to move WvW reset night away from patch night, just move it to a Wednesday or Thursday night NA. Us OCX and SEA players don’t get very much from this game due to the worst support I’ve ever seen (unless you’re NA or EU). At least let us have our weekend of play.

Most people have normal jobs or are in school Monday through Friday. With the old system Friday night to Sunday night was care free play time that meant something. With the new system, all day Friday and most of Saturday will be pointless play as the matchup results are already determined by then most of the time. The end result will be less people logging into the game Friday to Saturday Night which in when most normal people actually have time to play.

This was not well thought out, is a slap in the face to the WvW community, and completely shows lack of any understanding of the WvW game mode.

ANET is already shooting themselves in the foot with the new maps being so poorly designed…. with this they are shooting themselves in the head.

Honestly, I was already on the fence about buying the xpac ……this made my decision a lot easier.

This isn’t just a bad thing for the players, it is a bad business decision as well. The fact that this change actually made it through what was probably several people at different levels within the company is scary.

Just the way, the information was posted by the programmer guy was in itself disheartening.

Usually, the Anet Devs at least try to explain in some way the reasoning behind the changes they are making, i.e… “we are doing this because we think it will improve such and such, or have a greater impact with whatever…”. But in this case we the players are simply “informed” that these are the changes that are to come… full stop.

Based on my observation (NA Tier 6)…this is how the tone of WvW Match-Ups gets created for the week:

1-THR
Throwing a bone – If Dominant World has a Large enough WvW Point Lead…it allows other 2 Worlds to fight for 2nd

2-FRI – Current – WvW Reset
Stomp – Each World seeks to Dominate in their WvW Point score to get a huge lead on other 2 Worlds

3-SAT
Roles Defined – 800 Pound Gorilla, Chimp, and Weakest Link

4-SUN
Musical Chairs – Worlds play off each other & desperately try to switch roles

5-MON
Pecking Order – Worlds Falls in Line & continue to play off each other’s role

Note: If same 3 Worlds fight each other consecutively each week…then each Phase described above is quickly defined and Pecking Order occurs in a shorter amount of time.

New Change in my opinion will change the tone of WvW Match-Ups to:

1-FRI
Hammer the Weakest Link

2-SAT – Suggested – WvW Reset
Stomp the Weakest Link

3-SUN
Roles Defined & Musical Chairs

4-MON
Pecking Order

ANet…please quickly post that the upcoming Saturday WvW Reset is a one time event to help with the release of HoT…and the following week it will return back to the normal Friday Weekly Reset.

Thats what angers me the most, they are always silent on these stupid decisions, if they just come out and say well this is just a temporary thing for a week or 2 because of the expac release, well then its np. To make a sudden change like this with no input, or reason given, or even reply to such unanimous negative feedback. It really shows how little they think of their own gamemode and this playerbase.

By having it on an Saturday you make sure that every one in that group can make it for that reset (mind you not every one is off on Saturday but most ppl are.)

What i am hoping that they changes to wvw over all makes say the last day of a match more important then it is now. Its annoying when Thursday is kind of pointless unless the match up is very close.
Though with the new guild halls we may see Friday become GvG day with out killing ppt for that wvw server.

I was just curious what the exact reasoning is behind changing the reset day. Friday there is always alot of activity especially because people have time and the reset starts.
Could you perhaps clarify and is there any chance the WvW community itself can have any say in it? I know ANET has their own vision of WvW but some more consultment or at least try and poll what people actually want would be highly appreciated by everyone playing WvW.

Sry thinking of an older reset but even that 6:00 pdt is still early for a lot of ppl on the west cost for NA.
Still its about getting ppl the abitly to play on reset even ppl who work 2ed and 3ed sift are able to play reset if its on an Saturday and not just the 1st shift workers for Friday nights.

Not every one gets Friday night 9:00 east off why should you get a reward right there and then when other simply miss it. All you have to do is wait a day longer before you get it so others can now get the reward too is that asking too much?

I think you misunderstand the lack of care that occurs at the end of a match when the score is not close. Now at least no one will feel they are wasting gold on upgrades. There is still siege that will disappear because of reset.

No worries. I remember when it was earlier too. I think maybe we need a rolling reset. 9PM EST Friday one week, advance by 12 hours next week, then again by 12 hours, then back to 9PM EST Friday.

No one will be 100% happy, but everyone will get to participate.

I think i can understand the Saturday reset time over Friday due to different time zones and different prime times. You change it becuse not every one gets Friday night off and the ones who get Saturday off (mostly the ones who get Friday night off too) can play. So ppl who are making it to reset are giving up a day delay on there reset so more ppl over all can make it to reset. Reset night should be big and the time to make sure every one can make it is to do it on the first day off on a 2 day weekend not the night of the day before a 2 day weekend.

Depending on how this works out you maybe able to push back reset times to be earlier in the day because your not playing off that 9 to 5 job time any more.

Though i like to point out that this is a good example of ppl who are unwilling to wait for there rewards so more ppl can get them. Its simple human greed i understand we all have it but we should not be ruled by it. Delaying a reward so others can reap the reward too should boost a group not harm it.

Let’s not start confusing daylight savings time with reset change. Reset occurs in UTC, which has no daylight savings time. Reset will be back to 5pm Pacific very soon.

First of all Anet doesn’t look into wvw players time spending. So u think Anet see "he Saturday everyone has day off and players are done working from 9-5 so do the reset on Saturday. No I don’t think so.
If they really think like how u think, they would change it to Sunday, because in my knowledge Sunday is a day that Most of the people don’t need to work, and students don’t have school. But no not Sunday. Has to be Saturday and why? No answer.

No, not everyone does. However, the vast majority of people in the United States at least will not be working at that time. It takes away half the weekend of meaningful play (more for OCX as it will be Sunday) at a time when most people will not be working and have more available time to play.

I have to question whether you actually can grasp the issue and what it means from a gaming stand point for the majority of people, what it means in regards to the ‘coverage wars’ situation, and what impact this will have from a business sense.

No one wanted the bloodlust nodes back in the day that gave a huge boost to a dominant server, this was particularly true immediately after it was introduced. Sacrx at the time indicated that ANet were trying to unbalance WvW and GvG even more and push people into PvP (ANet’s preferred game mode) for balanced fights.

If getting you out of WvW and turning you into a PvP player were to occur, in short, ANet would be happy.

Off nights just prior to reset for my guild (30+ online during WvW) usually result in 3 or 4 people being online. My guild could be a statistical anomaly and out of the norm, but I really think this is indicative to some degree in most WvW-centric guilds.

Doesn’t this change make reset at a time where the weekend is pretty much over for SEA like early to late evening on Sunday? And mid afternoon for OCX?

Now from a NA side, wvw is pretty much winding down. Don’t see how this will help participation in those timezone. We will see. I am not optimistic about that.
