As everyone here probably knows, WvW is required if you want to have your map 100% completed. This is obviously another attempt of arenanet to make endgame that doesn’t exists at first place. Some of you probably wonder why do I even write this?

Let me begin by saying how Underworld’s WvW sucks and how often I die. Underworld is known as worst WvW server on planet.

I have no intentions to grind for WvW gear, even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to kill anyone since NOBODY plays WvW on underworld.

“Buy some gems and transfer to server which has good WvW reputation”. Are you serious? Money doesn’t fall from the sky, specially if you live in poor EU country like I do. Not everyone lives in America ffs!!! I can’t afford transfer.

If you think that making a WvW required for map completion is good idea, you are terribly wrong. This is worst idea someone could come up with.

All you do is forcing players to play WvW against their will and insulting them, only because you think its cool to have PoIs in WvW forts? Lame. (Try to feel being me, trying to do map completion on worst WvW server. Just feel me!)

This is my feedback to you. I know every game needs some, but hey, game is made out of people who play it and as member of such community I have full rights to express myself.

Also, if nobody is on the borders just go up at oh around 03:00 in the morning, build a golem and take it with a class that can use stealth to bypass guards.

@OP I sympathize completely. I was in Ehmry Bay (NA worst server) and the exact same situation as you. I transferred to Jade Quarry like a month ago because I could afford it, but I was definitely a bit bitter about it. Worse yet, I seem to have overcorrected. JQ (and their enemies) are so hardcore about WvW the garrisons never seem to flip, at least not during hours I’m not at work. So I’m still missing world completion (and yes, I am building a legendary, and yes, wvw completion is the only thing I need anymore).

Honestly they should just make the points all obtainable without captures. PvE works this way. Some locations are locked behind doors that are event based, but if you walk up to the door even when it’s closed you still going the PoI. If PvE doesn’t force you to do the event, why does WvW? Especially when you can almost never solo the associated event in WvW?

Ironically, I am at the same position. Only difference is that I own warrior with 99% not guardian.

a total scrub can solo any heart out there. I’m really sorry if you despise PvE, but if you’re doing it for a goal instead of fun, I don’t see the issue. Totally in your power.

WvW map completion is different. I do find it fun, but if I didn’t I would still be there trying to get the completion. And it’s not in my power. It’s just a test of patience when you’re in a server that never changes colors, against 2 other servers which do massive call-outs for defense whenever the garrison comes under attack. I can’t influence it. I’ve tried bribing commanders and offering siege. Nothing I can do can influence it.

That’s not like a heart at all. Not even a little bit. They could add actual hearts to WvW, with things like kill enemies in this area, or attack supply carts in this area. That would be more of a correct comparison, as it would be completely within your power. (Note: this isn’t an actual suggestion)

Not sure if some people blind or trolling. You CAN’T win against zerg! There are simply no people to play with in WvW! What do you want more from me to tell you? Can’t you understand what I am writing at all?

Looks like ya’ll have flipped their bay 15 times, their hill 9 times, and their garri 5 times. So it’s definitely not like that 24/7.
Looking at the state of their corner in EB it seems like right now would be a pretty good time to grab some guildies that also want map completion and go hit their bl.

I know it’s a crazy thought but it might require you actually playing to get those points.

First, don’t come talk to me like I don’t know your situation. I’m from the only server in both EU/NA that placed LAST on BOTH SEASONS on the BRONZE LEAGUE, also we been on last place for 37 weeks (Highest on NA), only being beaten by Vabbi that have 62 weeks as dead last, which means that technically my server is much worse than yours. (Underworld only placed last 18 times)

Second, you are here complaining about how you will never get the PoI/Vistas you need because your server is weak on WvW but also you refuse to grind your way out for these, even tho you’re clearly not a WvW player (You wouldn’t be crying about it if you were). So you rather wait for of either Anet changing how the system work or that your server miraclous get transfers instead of grinding for a few days and transfer out to get these? You don’t even have a reason to transfer back since you’re not a WvW player! I don’t understand… Maybe you don’t want these as bad as you describe.

Lastly, your server is currently winning your matchup. So I highly doubt Underworld don’t have people 24/7 like you say. Now if you only play in a small time window, and in this window your server population sucks, then it’s a totally different story than the one you’re telling us.

Legendary is not a right it’s a privilege, earn it.

I sympathise with the non-WvW players who complain about map completion being dependent on WvW – I truly do! Instead of patronising them with suggestions of switching servers (c’mon Guys .. we shouldn’t be encouraging what amounts to bandwagonning, surely!), I turned my enormous intellect towards finding a solution for them..

Premise: You are not alone .. there must be a large number of players, who, like you are not interested in WvW but must complete the WvW maps in order to get Map Completion. This is the key to your success.

Step 1 Create a new guild. Call it something appropriate for the task at hand .. I Hate WuvWuv [MAPS] sounds good to me.. but you choose..

Step 2 Advertise your new Guild as widely as possible.. the guild is specifically set up to complete the WvW maps.. nothing else. No hardcore “We Want GvG” players allowed. Mission Statement: This guild will have regular forays onto the WvW maps specifically to get to POIs and Vistas and SPs. It will only run if there are at least 50 forming the train.

Step 3: Carry out your mission statement.

The risk here is how to maintain the momentum.. since everytime one of you gets map completion thanks to your efforts, they will leave you to return to the non-WvW aspects of the game. So you’ll need to keep recruiting constantly to keep the numbers high enough to achieve your objectives.

I just jumped in there and followed the dorrito, got the points of interest, but at the same time didn’t even care about the points of interest…because I started to have fun. This may not relate to op’s specific situation per say, but to all the pve players that need map completion, take a risk. Step outside your comfort zone a little. You never know you may find a game mode that you really really really enjoy.

this is what I did and I do play WvW for the fun now. I’ve gotten a lot better at not dying and at contributing now, too. Only issue is a month later I still don’t have the map completion, and I still want it (even if it’s not my only reason for WvW anymore).

I do wish the earlier post about making a guild was more feasible. It’s a great idea but I think a bunch of WvW scrubs will definitely fail to do anything and the idea will fall apart rapidly… at least on my server. No way 50 WvW scrubs can take blackgate’s garrison.

I’m not sure if the OP is just a troll or he’s totally ignorant about the situation with WvW in Underworld. Yes, we had a lot of people transfering out of our server and that’s the biggest reason why we are where we are (don’t ask me any more details, I just started playing 3 months ago so that’s all I know), but we have been trying to do something about it and we have some very dedicated players. If you think that all the terrible players magically joined Underworld and all the best players joined SFR, desolation or whatever, then I don’t know what to tell you…

For the past 3-4 days we have been dominating our oponents almost to the point where we basically painted their BLs and EB red. So, if you did miss that occasion, it’s your fault. Not trying to be offensive or anything, but we did capture pretty much everything on WSR BL at one point.

If you really want that Map completion, just play WvW, and eventually you will get it. Form a group with people who have the same interests as you, that’s what I did in other MMO’s when I wanted to get certain achievements.

And like someone here said, try to have fun while you do it. There are things you can do in WvW that doesn’t involve actual PvP (if that’s what you’re trying to avoid), like trebbing Keeps/towers, capturing mercenary camps and supply camps, or just simply scouting.

If you want your map completion, help us and you will get it, simple as that… But don’t be selfish or arrogant.

The reason folks left Underworld is because players wanted better PvE experience(we wasn’t able to do big grind fests “as intended” or like Desolation) and people didn’t wanted to guest all the time. Over time WvW went horrible and from all that mess they escaped by first chance which was free server transfer last year. This is arenanet’s fault for not informing us about upcoming mega server technology.

Well, I have solution for you: play the game mode. It’s really that simple
There is no server that will have all borderlands captured all the time. If you missed that occasion, then all you have to do is play more and eventually you will get your legendary. Afterall, they’re called legendaries for a reason.

If you need world completion in order to build that 2000+ gold legendary (being the only thing that require world completion, you get two of the gifts) then 220 gold is nothing.

Here is another solution: in game mail to Davey, offer him 5 Omega golem per map (you can buy them from the AH) to take the points on a map. He either is a commander that can tell you yeah we can do it at that and that time, or he probably knows a good commander that can do it.

1) yes, there are people complaining they have to do PvE map completion. There are always people complaining about something.

2) they probably represent a smaller percentage, but that’s because PvE is painfully easy (as you lot like to constantly remind everyone… mash 11111111 is a super common comment here). You can be a complete scrub with any class and still get PvE completion easily. You can be a complete master of your class in WvW and still never get world completion if you’re stuck like I am as always green in tier 1.

Hopefully JQ isn’t green next matchup, or hopefully they capture the garrisons at a time other than my work hours (watching gw2score while I’m at work makes me sad). But our complaints come not from it being hard or whatever you think. It comes from the powerlessness we feel. No matter how much I want to do it I can’t do it. I have to wait until my server changes color (1+ month and counting) or until a good guild does it for me (which I won’t have any warning of anyway).

Hopefully you now understand where the complaints come from. With enough time anyone will get wvw completion on any server, but how long it takes varies WILDLY, and not based on any factor you can control. Seems a lot of elitism is going on here like we’re not trying hard enough or our concerns are invalid. I personally have been trying very hard for a month, spending 2+ hours a day in WvW. Maybe that’s not enough for you, but I spent 1 hour a day in PvE doing world completion in the same month and finished a week ago.

Pve players dont want to do wvw for legendary, wvw players dont want pve things for it.

Underworld ticking +305 right now. Also, all the enemy keeps have been flipped in the past 4 hours. Pretty good for servers where no one plays.

Seriously, in a low tier server you just need to get some friends together to flip stuff, since at best the enemy servers only have numbers for part of the day.

In all seriousness though, I would be 100% behind a decision to remove WvW map completion as long as they gave us a way to earn legendary’s strictly in WvW. Maybe let me trade in some of that dragonite crap that is clogging up my storage.

not sure if I’m being trolled, but I definitely know about it being a month since we changed colors and mentioned it in my “QQing”.

I also mentioned how i’ve spent twice as much time in that month in wvw as I did doing map completion in PvE, and I completed PvE map completion a week ago (though I started at 30% a month ago).

I started my legendary process when I got dawn (you guessed it, a month ago). I immediately started WvW map completion at that point, having read that advice many times.

Spending two times the amount of time in WvW than in PvE and still not be done certainly seem like something QQ-worthy, if that’s how you want to interpret my posts. I would prefer you see them as I intended, however, which was rather that perhaps we should admit it’s worth changing to something more balanced and consistent.

As a commander I still have 0 sympathy for people unwilling to learn, help or even KINDLY ask for me to attempt something.

100% of the time I am whispered and asked kindly to try for something, I will try for it and apologize for not being able to, I will proceed to add you to my friends list and let you know when it flips. 100% of the time I am rudely whispered to asked, or trolled in map/team to get something I will 100% of the time avoid that structure and make it a point for other commanders to not go for that structure.

map completion sucks, both wvw and pve^^. I’m just doing this to get my legendary. Luckily i’m on desolation so it won’t take long until I get my last 2 PoIs and my last vista.(although I have no idea why we were green for the last 2 weeks. seems kinda random to me) I only play sPvP btw…

Jeknar is right. The inly thing holding you back and preventing you from completing your 100% map is you and your inability to adapt and employ the strategies laid out for you here.

It’s a map, you have to complete it for map completion.

I mean you dont see WvW players complaining on the PvE forums, saying “why do we need to all those maps for map completion, I only play WvW?!”

Get over it, just because the devs have been pandering you for over a year with biweekly updates, you better put in the effort for map completion in WvW!

You wont get it in a day, like you do in PvE, it can take you weeks depending on which server you are! If you dont put in the effort, you dont deserve the completion!

That is a week (seven days) of easy farming, maybe two hours a day, while watching cartoons at the same time. It doesn’t mean cutting edge farming or watching the market.

But if you do transfer, don’t be like the guy who went from Ehmry bay to Jade Quarry – I’ve helped people get map completion in WvW on Ehmry Bay in the past month – people just shout it out in map chat or (more rarely) on TS and we can usually make it happen in short order. Going to what is essentially a locked tier (like tier 1) is a mistake, especially if map completion is important to you. If you’re going to move, go somewhere mobile.

I will say, though I don’t really follow the EU servers, that even the bottom tier in NA has some mobility so I’m sure that EU does as well. I see that though you were red when you started posting in this thread, you’re green now. That’s a bunch of stuff you’ll get right there, so congrats.

Make sure you switch to your alts and get what you can as green too – you never know what you’ll do in the future and you may as well make it easy on yourself.

Not sure if some people blind or trolling. You CAN’T win against zerg! There are simply no people to play with in WvW! What do you want more from me to tell you? Can’t you understand what I am writing at all?

Look at the attachment picture, just look at it. When its like that 24/7, how could you complete WvW?

Your screenshot just shows someone else’s borderland, not your own. What does your own look like?

Like I said in my previous post, you were red when you took that, and are now green. Ideally you get the bulk of your home BL done, and the third of EBG that’s closest to you.

As you change colours, you get those then. Where is the problem?

WvW rotates, basically you’ll be red, blue and green at some point making map completion easy.

I’m not a fan of the map completion but WvW shouldn’t be a problem.

When I made it to level 60 early this year with my first character, my server was in last place in NA, and I had wvw map completion within the next month. Yes, it does take some persistence, but it is entirely doable. I don’t really see your complaint as being viable, especially when the only real reward is a cosmetic one.
