Lion’s arch is a very important place for wvw players. Every reset hundreds of guilds gather in Lion’s arch at the portals grabbing their gear to run their raids from the nearby guild bank making their changes to the emblems and adding influence while they eagerly await for the match to reset.. they stand in the middle of the WvW portals waiting to know what color they will be going in to, dropping banners, banquets and feasts! When the color changes they hurry into the right color portals they agreed upon prior to the match to not be stuck in massive ques for hours.

Servers have meetings of all of the guild commanders where they decide who will be going to which map prior to reset, they coordinate with other guilds to see who will be tagging up and who will be offering support so that they can be most effective and not have everyone stuck in que all night.

Where is our WvW rally area now Anet? Why is there a giant PVE portal stuck in the middle of our WvW portals shoving our WvW portals to the side and sending our guild banks to the other side of the planet? Where do we rally now, and how do we run into the portals fast enough after the color changes now they have been spread out and cast aside?

I thought the lions arch changes were beautiful, I love how bright and welcoming it is now.. for everyone but WvW players who have had the only place to rally in the world taken from them. I do not think that we were considered when you made these changes, and feel as though wvw players were pushed aside when you decided to stick a giant PVE portal in the middle of our tiny corner in this world and make our area nonfunctional. I hope you will reconsider that the entire time this stays this way, WvW players no longer have a place to rally in the world now that is functional.

In addition, WvW players ALSO need a guild bank near crafting areas to be able to craft food and siege for runs and be able to deposit them quickly for guildies to be able to pull out before runs.

As I stated above, much planning goes into reset , and you are coordinating many guilds on a server prior to reset. AT the meetings, it is decided who is going where, however no one knows what color the team they are fighting is going to be until they actually change color right before reset. When wvw is reset, that is when they make a mad dash to restock since they often are playing all the way up until being kicked out. Think of it more as " the pit" for nascar drivers.. you run in get your stuff done and get back in the game. That is how this should work for wvw players.

EDIT: Need regular bank, guild bank, guild services, Armor Repair, Merchants, Trading Post and Crafting Stations for food, oils and stones near WvW portals to make a good wvw rally area.

I haven’t logged on yet, but have they fixed the wp that’s closest to the wvw portals. Yea, I know Living World and stuff but the fact it was mostly inconveniencing wvw’ers is a bit annoying.

Also, Lion’s Arch should really not be megaservered, but that is only my opinion.

Yes, they fixed the WP.. but it isn’t going to take you to what you think it will.. XD
I also agree with it not being mega server, it was nice to have an actual server area to gather in.

Sorry, but for all of the wvw problems I just don’t see this as high priority with the fixed wps. I can agree to disagree though…

What is the point of a fixed WP when there is no TP, Guild Bank and Bank near it? LOL
You have to WP all over the place just to get what you could with one WP before.

It’s beautiful but certainly not functional at all.

WvW needed more help than any other area and we were ignored, again.

can I just ask, why do you need to gather in LA and walk through the portal for reset? I mean I normally just press ‘B’ then click the button when it pops.

Why not just say such guild is going blue portal and stand infront of it…not this last second scurrying to get to your proper colour…what tier are you in that you’ve got that kinda time in the first place? As for the bank locations it’s no bother..just be ready 5 minutes earlier, you’re autorun button must be tired right.

That isn’t how this works. You do not just go tell guilds what color they get to be. Different guilds have different play styles, some are defensive and go to the home BL, Some are offensive and take specific different teams and have different objectives pre- planned. This is how things work on Tier 1. Guilds have specific guilds and teams they wish to fight and specific roles and objectives. Guilds ultimately decide what they are going to do and where they will go. and this is not dictated to them. This is discussed and coordinated in the meetings but no one tells a guild what they have to do, they decide that for themselves. It would be ignorant to put a bunch of yak runners on offense and have your offense running defense. No one knows what color your Home Bl is going to be until the color changes. Most are either playing wvw 5 min before it starts or are still coming home from work due to it being NA prime.

Why is it okay to just remove the pitstop area for wvw players taking our only tiny corner of the world out of the game? MANY appreciated using this area, simply because you do not does not mean it wasn’t an important area for the rest of us. Things do tend to get hectic right before reset, but that is expected when you are a top server. Guilds do not just nub around saying " uhh what you want to do?" on reset, they have objectives and plans that are being implemented.

After all, Fort Mariner was rather different before, and you had to use a different bank/TP/gbank then to begin with. I am the one who stocks the guild bank of one of the largest wvw guilds on JQ. I have to wp to Guild bank, get ingredients, WP to TP run to all the different crafting stations, run back to TP then WP to guild bank put in all the different Individual food, stones, oils crystals in for guildies and pots and feasts for commanders splitting all the stacks (often we have multiple pins running at same time), take out reg siege then WP to Toilet then WP back to Guild bank mail stuff to anyone who didn’t get to the bank or has limited access then WP to portals, and all this while forming up parties, checking builds, handling recruit applications and making sure our team knows the gameplan. Loading screen loading screen loading screen loading screen loading screen just to do what we could before with one WP. The broken LA should not be more efficient than a repaired one. They have plenty of places to put NPC’s near the portals, they can easily add them if they wished to make their wvw players happier. It is great it works for you, that does not mean it works for the thousands of other players that use the area. There are multiple threads already talking about the inconvenience of the NPC placements as it is in multiple areas of the forums currently due to the many people that this is currently affecting. Sure for someone just grabbing their gear and moving out it is less of an inconvenience, but for those making everything that goes in the bank, it is a huge pain in the Crocodile. It working for you =\= it working for everyone else.

One of the best things about Lion’s arch being a WvW rally area as well though, was all the guilds came together there and united prior to battle as a server rather than guilds being so separated as they are most of the other time. This is one of the few times they unite and come together in the game and share banners, feasts, kegs and boxes of fun.

Sadly though I have moved most of my characters out of LA for now until they make it useful again. I used to keep them parked there.

You are less likely to be qued when you use the portal since the portals take priority and you are able to get more of your guild onto the map. When you have hundreds trying to get on the same map at the same time, you need all the benefit you can get to get your entire guild on. I have never been stuck in que on reset when I use the portals, even when we have a 100+ que.

A better solution is if all guilds on your server got good and then it doesn’t matter what map which guild goes to. Many servers have already adopted this policy.

Saddest part of the patch and expansion is that they didn’t address WvW and this mentality. Maybe guild halls will address the concern. Maybe not. Personally I see it as a lower priority especially after the patch. WvW and sPvP is in a bad state which they know and are working on.

Will be interesting to see which class has the larger alligator tears as the changes start to roll in. In the mean time just continue to plan and prepare for Friday night resets like you always do. It isn’t a huge deal really.

I am not in T4 and I know who Ehmry Bay is. Yes, I do expect wvw players at least to know who the teams are XD.

Guild halls will not be a replacement for a wvw rally area in the open world since it would just be your guild rallying there and not a coming together of all the guilds prior to reset. There are so few areas to recruit for your guild on your server, isolating them further only makes it more difficult to do rather than increasing the " community" of the game itself. Further isolating wvw players is just decreasing the community interaction rather than adds to it. What wvw needs is more server unity, not less.

The issues affecting the GB and NPC placement in LA do not just affect reset though.. I have to craft and restock the Guild bank multiple times daily.. doing that entire routine I listed above, so there is no " go about business usual" when it is that much of a pain in the Flamingo now. They made it a very irritating and tedious process now when it was much easier to do before without adding all the loading screens. It is no longer " LA" it is " LS" for “Loading Screens”. It is a huge deal for the people stocking the banks.

As far as class changes, I am just going to wait and see until they are done nerfing to evaluate them and see what we have to work with after the dust settles.

I don’t agree with a centralized WvW or staging area or any need thereof. However, I do think your post raises other issues with server side communication, players, and guilds. Alliances would go a long way to centralize communications in-game. TS or any other forms of comm help outside the game, but in-game commander, guild, and PUG comms need help, and badly.

At one time, you could recruit for your server anywhere in the world, since no matter where you went, it was your server. In LA, guilds still did so since this was the primary area in game where WvW players hung out outside of WvW. Many of the guilds that exist were formed prior to the mega server, many friendships bonded prior to that. Not having any area where people can gather from the same server in game reduces the chances of those guilds and friendships ever come to exist. Many do not come into wvw when they start playing because they just do not know much about it. Having an area in the open world where WvW players can gather helps resolve the server isolation issues created by the mega server. In game textmanding is just not viable for higher level of play on any team pvp game I have played in the last 10 years.

I must admit to not feeling this anywhere near as hard as you do. But I do agree that a lot of services are spread very thin, and often very far away from WP’s as well. I already miss the south east cave corner with all the services close to each other.

I do hope they look at this and reconsider somewhat, a bank/guild bank npc would not be wrong to have near the portals.

One possible good use of guildhalls, if they allow us to unlock services and crafting stations, and perhaps even a own mystic toilet (btw love the new mystic toilet flush effect....) they HOPEFULLY place them in close to each others and WP’s in the guild hall, so you can craft things easier there.

This… Really isn’t an issue. The borderlands portals still show which colour they are. The only difference is that they’re no longer close to NPC services, which DR or Rata Sum has anyway.

There are multiple differences. they spread the portals out farther to put that giant pit and PVE portal in the middle. They show which color they are when it resets , and are more spread out so when it changes you have farther to run to get in, one of the portals that change color has a staircase in between it and the others. . They are also no longer close to crafting tables as well as services. Crafting stations are not on same level as GB in DR. Why should we have to go to another city to get part of the job done? IF you look at my routine for filling the guild bank listed above, I am filling the guild stash, treasure trove and deep cave daily, and you can see it just becomes a series of loading screens to do what I could from one WP before.

There will be guild halls in the future, although I don’t know if those will facilitate reset-rally sitautions appropriately.

I can’t recall if it’s possible to just spam the button on the WvW menu instead of using the portal, but an alternative change is to adjust the way people enter WvW on reset. If they made it so you didn’t have to be at the actual portal, that might make it a bit more convenient for people.

At least there is a waypoint by the guild bank now. I’m not sure why they’re intent on only having one of those things around. Hell, they don’t even have one in the citadels, which is insane, although you can use that guild registrar trick to access a jumbled up version of it.

They do have them them on all the BL’s. The issue is messing with that on wvw maps takes up time and space from the match. Players need to be fighting not standing around when they are in wvw. The issue with Guild halls though is they still isolate non guild members from you. Instead of it feeling like you are in the open world, you are shut off from all non guildies. It isn’t a meetup spot for all the guilds on the server as well as random players not in guilds, and it doesn’t promote recruitment. Guild halls being used for anything other than arenas tbh is bad for bringing the community together due to isolating the guilds from the rest of the players. How do you recruit random players around you from a guild hall? The ones that are going to be there already know you. For every player that is standing in a guild hall banking or crafting is one less player others run into in the open world.

You can use /B , it is just much less likely to get your whole guild in that way.

Ser plays on Blackgate and we assign reset maps by color. Tarnished Coast also assigns reset maps by color. That is the other two servers in your Tier doing it the way you say isn’t the way it works.

As an aside, Ser is the main chef for our guild and keeps the bank stocked with WvW food.

Guilds choose where they go, they are not assigned, no one tells another guild what they will and will not do. Guilds often have fights lined up with those on other servers and have their BL arranged ahead of time, including making such arrangements with those on BG and TC so not all of BG and TC guilds roll like that either. . We do not roll that way on JQ , as it makes more sense to utilize guilds due to their own strengths and weaknesses allowing them to shine at what they do best. JQ is not at risk for dropping out of T1 unlike some others in T1. <3
In addition, Playing on BG and asking what tier is even worse. LOL

EDIT: I just spoke to 2 BG guilds and no, they both said they do not choose their maps by color, so not sure what you are going on about.

You can use the menu, but the problem is that the reset time seems to vary. Sometimes it’s at :05 and last night it was almost :20

Any form of spam could be pretty tiring.

Why not just say such guild is going blue portal and stand infront of it…not this last second scurrying to get to your proper colour…what tier are you in that you’ve got that kinda time in the first place? As for the bank locations it’s no bother..just be ready 5 minutes earlier, you’re autorun button must be tired right.

That isn’t how this works. You do not just go tell guilds what color they get to be. Different guilds have different play styles, some are defensive and go to the home BL, Some are offensive and take specific different teams and have different objectives pre- planned. This is how things work on Tier 1. Guilds have specific guilds and teams they wish to fight and specific roles and objectives. Guilds ultimately decide what they are going to do and where they will go. and this is not dictated to them. This is discussed and coordinated in the meetings but no one tells a guild what they have to do, they decide that for themselves. It would be ignorant to put a bunch of yak runners on offense and have your offense running defense. No one knows what color your Home Bl is going to be until the color changes. Most are either playing wvw 5 min before it starts or are still coming home from work due to it being NA prime.

Why is it okay to just remove the pitstop area for wvw players taking our only tiny corner of the world out of the game? MANY appreciated using this area, simply because you do not does not mean it wasn’t an important area for the rest of us. Things do tend to get hectic right before reset, but that is expected when you are a top server. Guilds do not just nub around saying " uhh what you want to do?" on reset, they have objectives and plans that are being implemented.

DO you even play WvW? Asking what Tier I am on when it says Jade Quarry in my signature? Everyone who knows anything about WvW knows who that is.

Ser plays on Blackgate and we assign reset maps by color. Tarnished Coast also assigns reset maps by color. That is the other two servers in your Tier doing it the way you say isn’t the way it works.

As an aside, Ser is the main chef for our guild and keeps the bank stocked with WvW food.

Guilds choose where they go, they are not assigned, no one tells another guild what they will and will not do. Guilds often have fights lined up with those on other servers and have their BL arranged ahead of time, including making such arrangements with those on BG and TC so not all of BG and TC guilds roll like that either. . We do not roll that way on JQ , as it makes more sense to utilize guilds due to their own strengths and weaknesses allowing them to shine at what they do best. JQ is not at risk for dropping out of T1 unlike some others in T1. <3
In addition, Playing on BG and asking what tier is even worse. LOL

EDIT: I just spoke to 2 BG guilds and no, they both said they do not choose their maps by color, so not sure what you are going on about.

I do not know what guilds you spoke to, but the well known WvW on BG all select reset map by color 2-3 days before reset.

OnS, Icoa, KnT & KnM, UD, GoF, RISE, SG, kitten, WHOA and the list goes on. I do not know what guilds you spoke to, but the BG guilds that coordinate together all choose by color.

If you knew how Glicko worked, you’d know that no server is currently in danger of falling out of T1. Currently 25 point separate 1st (JQ) and 3rd (TC). There is a 142 point gap between 3rd (TC) and 4th (FA). That gap is too big for FA to even pop into T1 with the randomization formula.

Also, with Ra now helping to dampen the effect of JQs SEA and Rekz about to tranfer down to T2 or T3, JQ might not have the easy ride out of seasons it used to enjoy.

JQ’s seas hasn’t been strong for months so I do not see RA making much difference in that particular zone, since JQ was not doing much during SEA or NA prime for a while now. JQ is strong during OCX, EU and PST primarily. [KILL] Only officially runs EU and PST. Thank you for clarifying the color issue, from my understanding those who do not have previous engagements lined up go color, those who have particular guilds or servers they wish to fight go where their fight is arranged.

BTW.. I was jesting about dropping.. You know how much K training we would have to do make anyone drop? YIKES. In addition FA has no desire to move up and even when those guilds dropped down to move them up they still would not PPT enough to do it because that gets boring. Everyone on JQ and FA would die of PPT boredom before it ever came to that . HAHA

JQ has plenty of room to grow atm, though we really haven’t had new guilds. Even on reset night last night we were able to hop maps without waiting. and we usually have less ques than other top servers, though many on JQ are on break right now, so that could change when they come back. JQ usually runs 25- 35 man groups that coordinate together rather than an “omniblob” though, and this is a strength and weakness for us at times.

I have found it is faster to have a character logged out at each crafting / npc station, one at the DR Bank and have that one run from reg bank, guild bank to TP , and a character logged out at the Mystic Forge. It is sad that logging in and out of that many characters is still faster than using LA on one now to accomplish the same tasks you could before on one character in half the time. It shouldn’t have to be this tedious and time consuming.

WvW players, it’s not that you were forgotten, it’s just the map designers didn’t know you even exist. You don’t matter. Nothing is balanced to take into account wvw, there is no test server, and if the new wvw map isn’t full of holes and pve mechanics I’ll be a cheese.
