WvWvW Queues issue [Merged Threads]
By now we all know the problem exists, its happening everywhere.
Please acknowledge there is a problem, explain to us what is causing it and give us a time frame on when it’s gonna be adressed.
You have a big commuity that just WvW, we deserve to know if the part of the game that we paid for is getting adressed.
Thanks in advance!

You did it to yourselves. Maybe you should have stayed on your original servers instead of forming super servers. Just a thought.
And what about the people who did stay on their original servers but had unwanted people pile onto it? :P Not that I agree that this is an issue that needs fixing, but this isn’t a great argument.

Yes because that is surely the case for all players on all servers.
Wait, no its not. Its far worse for the ones that stayed with their original server only to see its WvW community be torn apart by queues, such as Piken Square.

Two things:
1. Whether or not they formed super servers the queue should still work correctly.
2. It’s not like a queue is a new gizmo and no one is sure how it should work.

Ques are a symptom of the second biggest problem with WvW. The actual problem is the ridiculously low participation caps. Personally I think Anet has made critical errors in the programming they will not be able to fix. I think to much has been sacrificed to make it a pretty game and we’ll just have to wait for the next one come on Elder Scrolls learn and conquer.
People should l2read and understand before inserting personal opinions.

Oh? Because the title and topic are very vague, and more than one aspect of queues being an issue have been discussed in the past week.

Despite what Anet says, there were NO WHERE near 100+ people in TCBL when it had a queue. Not. Even. Close.
I do not know what causes this problem, but it seems that it keeps thinking that people are still in WWW when they are not.
.
Also… I wonder why Anet shares alot of information on the game but they never clearly stated exactly how much players there are before the queue comes. Did they ever gave a reason why they don’t tell us how many?

… Its completely random? You dont have to look far to see people reporting just that on the forums. Queue 15m, relog, insta-join. Queue 1h nothing happens. Both peeps start queueing at the same time. Queue for 2h nothing happens. 1h in another guildie had to wait 10m for the queue to pop. Etc and so on.
If we could actually see the queue stats (ie “you are 104/250”) and its frequently updated, we could at least have some sort of feeling for the amount of time we have to wait.
Now, its just… Completely random.

I recall one of the developers said in the wvw question thread that the wvw population cap is dynamic. So if there’s less people playing pve then there is more space for wvw or vice-versa. So say there’s 1,000 players in pve, that could mean only 200 player space for wvw. They basically said the population caps are different day to day, but in all cases the caps are equal for each team per boderlands.
A queue status would be really helpful.

They should still be able to tell us which number we are in line.
It would be nice to know I’m 10th in line even I don’t know if there are 10 people or 150 people behind me.

Funny, I have no queues what so ever on Crystal Desert…, we used to have a tiny queue, but nothing anymore. Seems better this way

I know there’s the issue of the game registering someone as logged in and still in w3 if they crash out or went to desk top or whatever as that other thread mentioned and that makes sense and should be minimal to fix. On voice comms last night I overheard someone explain that the server also sets the queue depending on class, to keep the class numbers balanced. If that’s true, it’s not as easy anymore to jump on an alt that should have a low class population since we all have to grind out Laurels now.

There is definately a problem with the WvW queues, i queued for 1 hr yesterday for EB whereas a guidie got in 5 mins after he logs into the game….
I ended up re-queuing and dint get in for another 30 mins…Soon after which my game crashes and i get another 1 hr long queue. While once again another friend on my server logs in and goes in 2 mins….
How is this working correctly? Its absolutely rubbish…
This is a problem because it leads to a lot of pointless superstition and misinformation (see above ^^).
Now players have gotten themselves stuck in the mind set of needing to have a regular queue to feel like their server is competitive when the only times we don’t have to worry about the queue bug (which ANET has said they get lots of reports on but cannot replicate in house so needs more data) is when there are no queues which is why this topic pretty much dropped out of circulation for the last couple of months and is showing up again now that the free transfers shut off caused a massive last minute bandwagon problem. If the Feb WvW patch does 1/2 of what they’ve promised get ready for more QQ queue threads because there are going to be a lot of frustrated players.
For now, pretty much everyone on JQ knows if you don’t get in after 30 minutes you should re-log and try again. It is also a lot easier and less buggy to jump between WvW maps so avoid the wait when possible and queue up for the map you want to play on from one that does not have one. Whatever the issue is, I find it annoying with my limited playtime but not annoying enough to leave the WvW community we’ve been building on Jade Quarry since beta.

We are not discussing how to mitigate the problem, we are trying to get ANET to fix this stupid problem.
But your input on how to not get trapped in the queue is appreciated.
But still, unless we know what’s causing it, we will just be guessing how to get around that, and my goal when i started the thread was:
1) What is causing it, and how we can circunvent it;
2) What ANET will do to fix it, specially i short term.

Yet another reason why Arenanet should have a PUBLIC TEST SERVER. How else are you meant to test changes that affect large numbers and are unable to do in house. Seriously I thought beta weekends ended ages ago.

Well there is something afoot. And the queue for WvW does not always work the way it should.
The most hilarious part was where we had trouble forming even a 20man zerg, with guildies and had the outmanned buff. And… a queue….
Even got a screenshot from yesterday or two days ago. Queue to our servers Borderland, and all we had was a single supply camp on that map. And its not like we were dealing with some superserver in the middle of the night, it was primetime and we are the roflstomping server.
Weird stuff.

They have addressed this and acknowledged the queue’s are not a line, and someone who queue’d after you can get in before you. I’m looking around for an updated post to see if they made any progress but this is the latest I can find.

Most of that also said don’t stack the servers and that it is best to spread out lol. And that was 4 months ago… I guess some people never learn. What will be really interesting to see is how the queues are for those huge servers if the wvw additions are really good and even more people want to wvw that have been taking a break. Lol
If it is a bug then yeah I hope it gets fixed. If it is just all the sheep enjoying what they caused- I hope it was worth it. Freaking out to server hop because a few large guilds went there and now crying that you have to wait to play- hilarious.

My guess is that they didn’t feel they needed it, because gw2 would not have large significant changes after launch. With GW2 they sell the box, they don’t have a sub so as a business model large changes are just not in the picture.
Not that I agree with that line of thought, but that’s my guess as to why no test server.
I waited next to the portal in Lions Arch and spammed F right when reset happened. There was an INSTANT queue. Been waiting in queue for almost 2 hours now.. some people in my guild logged in and got in in 5 min, others have been waiting just as long as me.
Why isn’t there a queue line?
Don’t know but this is kitten me off I’ve been in queue for almost 2 hours now.

I have a hunch the last patch has reduced the populations for each map and coupled with some servers getting a lot of transfers I think reset is going to keep having multi hour queues for many servers. YB has queues on all 4 maps and I have been waiitng 90 minutes and we are not a top WvW server so goodness knows how excruciating it must be on there.
Can’t get in WvW on Yak’s either and have been on since the reset… something feels weird. Maybe just the whole full point reset thing screwed it up.
Up to 2 hours and still waiting

They should stop calling this a queue. It’s not.
Queues are simple and predictable.
This is a lottery system. You try to enter WvW, you get a lottery ticket. You have no idea what the next number called will be, or how long you will need to wait. You simply stand there with your lottery ticket hoping at some point your number is called.

just posting to +1 this. very frustrated right now.
If your on one of the big transfer servers…I have no sympathy for you! You asked for it when transferring, yaks bend I do feel for you guys though!

Nice timing huh?
Now you can pay money to transfer.
This is why:

they did a ninja change and didnt tell anyone, seems like they lowered the cap limit for players per map or they have a huge bug they havent found a way to fix
i have a solution to you, transfer to a low tier server.
“i have a solution to you, transfer to a low tier server.”
Well either that or give up playing all together until the fix it I guess…..
There seems to be a definite queue bug going on with this reset. That or they nerfed the hell out of concurrent players or we just gained a mass of guilds to clog up the queue for hours.

Yes.
Now all we got to do it get them to agree to this, they do not seem to be aware of anything, the ‘numbers look normal’ according to Anet
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Anet it is pretty clear there is a problem when you have multiple servers telling you its bad. Its not just high tier servers saying it but low tier no coverage servers. Look into it and please get it fixed or you will lose a lot of players if your neglect continues.
In NA alot of the hardcore wvw people moved up to the top servers and none of them can get in to play. I know you love your PVE but please take some time to fix basic problems in WvW.
Ya, i think some transparency and an Anet response would be most appropriate now that Friday night wvw has been ruined for everyone.

Nope, I think it’s this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Any-Tarnished-Coast-citizens-agree/first
People who log out of WvW (or crash to desktop) leave a “ghost” in the WvW map that takes a long time to actually leave .. resulting in artificial queues.
I agree I think they should increase the numbers for WvW I was in Eternal Battlegrounds and I had a random network close I can now not get in any borderland to help my friends
Yep, 3+ hour queue is not going to cut it. WvWvW is what has kept me playing this game. But not for much longer.
There is definitely a bug in this. Keep one of these queue threads up because this is clearly not working as intended.
There are people “in” WvW even if they are offline, on log screen, or somewhere else entirely.
[Eon] – Blackgate
Yeah it is pretty darn bad. Ever since the Monday patch…at least for me and what I seen on Fort Aspen. Today was horrible with reset.
I haven’t had any outrageous queue, then again I’m not in the top tiers. : P Only been about 10 minutes or less for me.

No its not this, there were massive queues within seconds of reset tonight…
and not just on high pop “hardcore” wvw servers, numerous servers are experiencing this.
Its clear they significantly reduced the WvW population allowed in the zones.
