My suggestion to everyone. Inform everyone to quit WvW by exiting to LA instead of directly logging off GW2 in WvW. Not sure if it works but worth a try.

I believe if you encountered a disconnection by the server, ur player remains in wvw for a good 30 mins. If this disconnetion is often, im sure many spots will be taken up by disconnected users

Could someone please present a reason why this couldn’t be true? Because it just makes sense to me.

Just a quick note to those accusing people complaining about playing on bandwagon server, take your kitten some place else. There are MANY loyal people who have been on a server since beta who are now subject the atrociously bugged queues. Why must we leave a community we’ve built up from the ground because other people joined the server?

Fix your game ArenaNet, it’s in a bad place right now.

I understand you had nothing to do with the state your server is currently in, but that’s not A-Net’s fault either. It’s the fault of all the bandwagoneers who jumped on your server and screwed it up. Unfortunately the only way to fix this is for either them to leave or you to leave. Good luck convincing all the idiots to leave the server, especially with payed transfers as they are now.

There’s nothing wrong with the game. A-Net can’t fix it if there’s nothing wrong. There IS something wrong with the community though…

Just as an FYI to the self righteous people like yourself who don’t really seem to understand the problem…

It’s not the fact that there is a queue. People are fine with queues.

There are two major issues that are annoying people.

1. The queue does not work correctly. People are not being pulled from the queue in the same order they are put in. Two people can join at the same time. One will get in 30 seconds later, one will still be waiting 1 hour later. The current system is not a queue, it’s a lottery.

2. People have no idea how long they will be waiting. We’re not looking for an exact time. We want to know our position in line. Are we 10th in line? 20th? 800? Is the queue stagnant? Have I been 25th in line for 30 minutes? Is it moving? 10 minutes ago I was 25th, now I’m 15th. In about 15 minutes, I can hopefully be in.

Even if the queue was 2 hours, most people would be much happier if they knew the queue was working correctly, had some idea how long the wait, and had some sort of indication that the queue was actually moving.

You are in long ques because you are in zerg servers.

My guild started in SoR.. then once it started going to high up in the ranks, the que times were about 6 hours long. It killed our guilds morale. So we jump ship down to a lower tier server, and love have no ques!

Thats just plain stupid. Did you even for one second put ANY analytical thought into this idea?

1 – They have already said it is first in first out.
2 – Many players have suggested this.
3 – This is NOT a technical issue. It’s an issue where all the transfer babies all transferred to a small subset of servers and now wonder why all 20,000 (exaggeration) of them can’t join the same battleground at the same time.
4 – They aren’t going to do anything to “reduce the wait” that’s up to the transfer system to take care of. Don’t like the long queues? Find a new server.

1. It is in no way a FIFO queue. They may have said it, but unless I see the code I don’t believe them.
3. It is a 100% technical issue. Last night during reset our entire guild was standing around and tried for ‘EBG’ and 1 of us got in. All servers were reporting low numbers. It took upwards of 3 hours for the rest of us to trickle in and interestingly when one of our guild members logged out someone else got in. This is most likely a coincidence, but if I remember there were issues when people in parties tried to queue as it took the party as a unit and only allowed everyone or no one. They might have done a cut/paste with the code.
4. If the purpose of the transfer system is to help balance out WvW, then it’s wrong and broken. IF you can have (166*4)=664 people total/server in WvW (166 people/4 borderlands) then they need more servers. I think the point of server transfer was to allow you to find a server that had people on during ‘your’ time of play to group up for PvE/Dungeons/Fractals AND WvW.

We have no queue, nor does HoD or IoJ. We have outmanned aswell. I am going to assume all the transfers have flooded WvWvW, and there has been sizeable losses/gains to each server. If all the recipients of said transfers now have queue’s, and all the servers that suffered from fleeing players, what does that tell you?

What did you honestly expect? Also, as the matches are going to be real chaotic and everyone moving tiers, your going to have more people wanting to play. Some servers already had some queues, add 500-1000 more players hopping on and what do you expect to happen? Remind anyone of first week or beta match ups?

Technical issue is most servers have gained a couple hundred people, top tier probably upwards of a thousand if not more, new match ups, more people playing in anticipation of PvP patch. Did you expect to gain all these people and not have an issue? Have you forgotten the multi hour queues at release and in beta? Those servers everyone fled? No queue, no issue.

Ok ok still trying to wrap my head around the concept. There is one group in the lower tier community that wants or wishes more people would join them to balance wvw in some way, but we all know how that worked out, kaineng is the prime example of what you guys do not want to happen which leads me to the other lower tier group, that does not want another episode like that to happen just because the queue times appear low at first, cause that is the nature of true bandwagoners, they move to wherever is best for them at any given time. So my question is, why bring up lower tiers having no queue, if you knowingly do not want to recruit those people to come on down, to give you the same bugged queues the rest of us are having?

In a perfect world we would have the same amount of coverage/presence all the time. Then the better players would effect the outcome. I am just shocked at the blatant stupidity of people saying stuff like “QQ I cant get my 80 man guild in at same time for eventz” or those who complain “Ive been on JQ since day one and now I have 4 hour queue”, when all those servers did was either mass recruit guilds of 100+ hardcore WvWvW guilds, or become a victim of said transfers. Its preposterous to act like you didnt see this comming. There are caps in place, and even if there was a problem with the queue, which might be the case, you’re still going to have a huge amount of people trying to get in.

Want to fix WvWvW? Limit the same amount of people on per map, per world. On a side note, if it is bugged, I hope they fix it. I have a feeling it really is just overload due to new match ups, bandwagons and hope that the comming PvP patch helps the PvP community.

Not to restate this but some of you are missing the point, what we’re really concerned with is the actual number of WvW is not balanced per server. Yes a lot of people are trying to get in, but why is there a queue if within the map the max population doesnt exist. For instance people who only own a supply camp or being spawn camped, they see max 10-20 ppl around them, do you really think 90+ ppl are off hiding and avoiding being killed by the bloodthirsty server thats fielding 80ish ppl? All we are asking for is that the refresh rate, or whatever issue thats causing the max pop from being able to get into the map to contribute to be fixed, its clearly a technical issue, stop whining about max pop servers, even max pop should have the right to have their total allowed players inside a map. When a tier 1 server tells you they have about 20 on a map, honestly you should believe them, because they got there knowing who’s on a map and where, you dont get to hold your own on numbers alone at that level its tactics involving knowing your own server and the enemies.

What is the deal with these super long Ques for WvW on Kaineng? I can see maybe a 15-20 minutes but over an hour? The forces that can actually get in are outnumbered because over half of our forces are tied up in the Ques waiting. I have been one of those. Now that we have a good matchup I WANT to WvW again but can not get in.

Its weird, i don’t get any queues on SBI..

I really don’t think Kaineng got that many more people this week over last week. We queued all the maps last week at reset but it was nothing like last night. When I finally got in last night after a long wait I found there really wasn’t that many of us on the map…maybe 50, although I didn’t even see that many while I was on. So, comparing last week to this week, I’d say there is definitely some sort of problem.

Again ill say, avoiding the problem by creating the same one on a lower tier server wont fix anything. People will not spread out evenly, let the numbers lie where they may and pray ppl stay put where they are, the more ppl transfer the more superservers it creates. We are not complaining about how big the server is or how long the queue is so much as we’re seeing long queues with Empty Maps. This simply should not happen.

More ignorance from someone who apparently can’t read. The problem is not simply long queues … the problem is that people are experiencing long queues even when the map is obviously far from being full (the supposed 166 player cap per server per map). There are hundreds of posts here in this forum that describe that problem.

So basically, the purpose for this thread is to ask Anet why it seems there are only, say, 500 slots on the entire map. With 250 being from one server, 200 from another and 50 from the last. So what people are asking…is that happening? I think that is what the question is, am I getting the drift?

Oh good idea. Lets all transfer to a lower tier, presumably low WvW population, server to avoid queues. Hmmm…see any potential problem with that idea?

And of course we didn’t have a problem with the guilds that chose (not recruited) to come to our server. We had a low server population, still only medium actually, and a higher than average amount of people into WvW. So we were happy to increase our WvW population so we could move up. But to say that last night’s severe queue issue is solely due to transfers that happened weeks ago isn’t accurate IMO. Like I say, we had queues last week in all maps, but nothing like last night. When I finally got into a BL I didn’t see all that many of us actually on the map. So the argument that there’s just too many of us doesn’t seem to be accurate IMO. Something was/is bugged.

Not in those extreme numbers ofc but technically thats what people are asking, It is said each map and each server in those maps can have 133-166 ppl dunno about that number ppl have said either. What we have seen on reset night, just from a kaineng perspective, we lost our map to an 80 man rougly guessing zerg of maguuma and maybe a 65+ish DB group, When we ourseleves could only find 40-50 on, with a queue, meaning we could not even come close to spreading out to take stuff alone, each camp was guarded by 5-10 of either mags or DB, with 20ish group waiting for us(kain) to attempt to take even a supply camp, we had to roll 30 people to not only crush the ones defending but to prepare for the oncoming 20 man group while rezzing our dead. Not exactly the best situation to be in when you have the other group attacking your only tower(s). That left us with 5 ish ppl in either tower and no1 anywhere else on the map. Anet should add a counter, showing the max players and how many of that max are on in each map, so not only commanders can know if their map is truly full or not, but anet can keep track of future queue bugs.

The game simply is not releasing players who log out or D/C without first leaving WvW.

Also, the log off in party thing has been around since launch but, reset night was the first time it showed someone that was in my party, that I know for a fact was offline, As Online while still in my group. Seems a bit odd to me its always shown me where the person logged off at just never that the persons char was still online when he wasnt.

Let us think about this. One server got ALOT of transfers the past 2 weeks. They basically stacked themselves. Anet devs say, “HEY look what these people did? That doesn’t seem all that good for our game W3 wise…what should we do?” “Let us lower W3 cap for each map, that will teach them a lesson, then we will get real money from gems when they decide to keep W3 competitive and transfer to a lower pop server to actually play again” Problem solved. W3 stays fun and Anet gets more money to pay programmers and devs the OT they need to actually fix real issues like culling and what not.

Well, I could imagine that it is possible for an original bug (the one showing logged out party members still on the mini-map) to have combined with a more recent bug in strange and mysterious ways. Maybe a logged out player that didn’t leave WvW first has always tied up a spot in the queue for some period of time (such as the thirty minute period somebody else mentioned), but now he also ties up spots equal to the number of other players that had been in his party … even though they are still in the game and being separately counted on their own. Maybe players who queue for one map while joining another map tie up spots in both maps … i.e., maybe the game doesn’t properly release a player from the queue even if he decides to just stay in the map he was able to get in.

Who knows what squirrely kitten is going on … but something clearly is amiss.

It’s not a coincidence, queues will happen when 80% of the WvW population are on 20% of the servers. I’m on CD and have no queues anywhere… ever.

Wish all the people saying stacked servers would leave the thread because its clear you have no clue what you are talking about. Instant que after 3 secs? When the people inside are only counting 20 peeps? Yes thats how it is supposed to work.

Anet has a bug and needs to fix it. In response to the mod post in the other forums, he was obviously not looking at the right thing and gave the public an answer so you would shut up so they could attempt to squelch your anger. Unfortunately for them more servers are affected by it now so its getting more publicity.

Again. What people are saying here is that there were very long queues when the map was not full, or even close to full. I waited almost 2 hours to get into a BL only to find there weren’t many of us there at all. I tried other BLs and never did get in, while others were reporting that the map in those BLS were not full.

Put it this way. It was like lining up at a popular club watching the bouncer let 2 people in every half hour and then once finally in myself finding the club half empty. That’s what was happening. Definitely seems like a problem to me.

Last night, we were on FA BL (FA, BG, TC). We had about 50 people on the map total, but there were still ques. Some guys were in que for an hour + before they got in. Yeah, there’s a problem.

Even tho it makes sense, if queues related issues are not in relation with server population, answer me to this question:

Why FoW (low population server) has NO queue, ever?

Most probably “truth” stands in the middle, as usual…

PS Do not blame ANET for having to counter a mass migration as we have seen, migration mostly due to the “I ll be the first in rank, or well at least I ll be there where leeching is guaranteed” attitude. You pick first bus to Tier 1, you ll get there or at least some will, other will have to keep running behind that Bus it seems ^^

Every person I see complaining about long queues are in tiers 1-3. Where is your evidence that the map is not full? Here is a link from a post (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Any-Tarnished-Coast-citizens-agree/first#post1334270) Habib made a few days ago when TC complained about the same problem, they see nothing on their end and I tend to trust their queries more than players’ anecdotal evidence.

Hmm, everyone transfers to the top servers creating a few jam-packed servers and a whole lot of empty ones, and now you guys decide that Anet’s queue system is broken because it takes you forever to get into WvW. It’s not a coincidence, queues will happen when 80% of the WvW population are on 20% of the servers. I’m on CD and have no queues anywhere… ever.

Again. What people are saying here is that there were very long queues when the map was not full, or even close to full. I waited almost 2 hours to get into a BL only to find there weren’t many of us there at all. I tried other BLs and never did get in, while others were reporting that the map in those BLS were not full.

Put it this way. It was like lining up at a popular club watching the bouncer let 2 people in every half hour and then once finally in myself finding the club half empty. That’s what was happening. Definitely seems like a problem to me.

Every person I see complaining about long queues are in tiers 1-3. Where is your evidence that the map is not full? Yep, read that. I also read the responses to it. I didn’t sweep the map counting people or anything. I’m not a new player, and have hit queues on reset on all 4 maps pretty much since Kaineng left T8. I have waited up to 2 hours in the past, but every time I have, I’ve seen a lot of us on the map. I didn’t see that last night, or close to it. In fact when I eventually made it to a Kaineng force of any size, after getting killed a couple times by fair sized DB or MG groups on the way, I found 3 commanders leading about 20 people. I thought it was weird and then realized that that group was probably most of the people on the map at that time. Apparently a lot of other people noticed the same thing. It was totally kittened.

Also, it’s not only the large WvW populations reporting this either. YB was reporting the same thing, this week.

Definitely not FIFO. They can say it’s FIFO all they want, but I’ve had guild mates enter the bg before me even though I started queuing 15 minutes before them.

There is a serious issue here, we have almost no one on EBG and we have a queue. This is wrong on far too many levels.

Technical issue is most servers have gained a couple hundred people, top tier probably upwards of a thousand if not more, new match ups, more people playing in anticipation of PvP patch. Did you expect to gain all these people and not have an issue? Have you forgotten the multi hour queues at release and in beta? Those servers everyone fled? No queue, no issue.

Have you forgotten this is the second week since free transfers stopped. The queues last week were not nearly as bad.

Every person I see complaining about long queues are in tiers 1-3.

No they aren’t have a read of some of these threads.

This bug definitely came in with the recent patch, there were never queues like this before, and there certainly weren’t low tier servers and just about every euro server reporting an inability to pass through the queues.

The only time they did respond was when we were the only server reporting an issue, and it really didn’t help that so many other servers tried to interject and say we were idiots. To be fair, I myself had to witness it to believe it, but once I did, its so obvious as to be ridiculous. Having a queue on all maps when you don’t even have enough people to take a camp is stupid.

Hopefully Anets silence is them trying to find the actual cause, we’ll see. I do know that they need to at least respond with some type of awareness of the issue, or they are going to lose many people who are aware of nothing more than fighting uphill battles and spending 10 hrs in queues.

Since the update, the WvW queue behavior definitely seems to have changed.

95% of the time I’m queuing with my girlfriend and now we’re frequently separated by 10-30mins getting into EB. That had never happened prior to the update once in weeks, regardless of server population.

I’m happy to report that, when I logged in on reset night, there were no waiting times for any maps on Stormbluff Isle.

I had a blast playing WvW while people on bandwagon servers sat in hour-long queues.

What is the deal with these super long Ques for WvW on Kaineng? I can see maybe a 15-20 minutes but over an hour? The forces that can actually get in are outnumbered because over half of our forces are tied up in the Ques waiting. I have been one of those. Now that we have a good matchup I WANT to WvW again but can not get in.

Its weird, i don’t get any queues on SBI..

How do you explain us camping TC at their portal because we couldn’t find any one to fight before reset. How do you explain that they few people we did see from TC had an outmanned buff, yet players in TC were reporting they had a queue for that borderland?

Yet another issue in WvW. I’m having a hard time understanding why it seems Anet has such a difficult time managing this. Other games do large scale combat, so it isn’t beyond comprehension that we could have WvW without culling, ridiculous queues, etc.

There is definitely a huge problem with queues right now. We don’t have more players playing than we did last weekend, but the wait times are horrendous. They really haven’t been this bad since launch. ANet says that the same amount of players are on each map, but that doesn’t mean that that equal number has been reduced since the patch without them saying anything. They never really gave us a number of players per team in the map, so they could change it without having to announce anything. Part of this “culling fix”, I have a feeling, is a reduction of allowable players on the map so that normal population you’d have and the map is insta-queue, now becomes stuck in a queue. So instead of 166 players on a map, you now have a max of 80 and 50+ people in queue on a normal night. The other possibility is that when people log out from within WvW, it leaves a ghost of them on the server and takes up a slot. This take the greatest effect when there is a queue over a span of several hours and it appears as though less and less players are in the map. Could just be a conspiracy, but it seems very likely we can’t put as many players in a map any more.
