Yes,

The spvp jungle-jim is a lot of fun and it will end the mega blobs soon.

The bloodlust buff doesn’t bother me much (besides it being bugged and laggy)

Large zergs will have to learn how to micro manage there groups rather than blobing to victory

Yay for points when you stomp opponents

An end to the GvG deathmatching in WvW which needed to be addressed. (yet I do want there to be a place for that in the near future when all professions are balanced around large group engagements)

Love the new map design but hate the stat buff, just as i dislike wxp, and the party offline bug.

Because it’s destabilizing my wvw community and causing unnecessary stress to my fellow players who are now venturing to play other games.

The idea itself is good, and I welcome it, but it’s not fun if I’m the only person enjoying it and no one to play with.

Wait, ANet gave us new maps? Non of the changes to the BLs are something new that took them months to come up. All of them were simply copy and paste. The new area a few of you love so much is exactly the game mode of SPvP, which isn’t what WvW players wanted. What about the roamers? Well didn’t they roam in WvW because the SPvP meta got boring and the lack of equipment/build became unbearable? (even though SPvP was meant to be the bear mininum)

This “orb” buff is something new? If it was something totally new wouldn’t it at least have a different icon? It’s the same freaking icon as the original orb buff when the game launched. No, the orbs wasn’t removed only because of the constant fly hacking, which people can still do and w/o a fix in sight. The original orb provided a huge increase in power. Such increase wouldn’t be an issue when you have fair matches where each sides had equal man power but that simply isn’t the case in WvW since day one. We had a lot of bandwagon guilds and self centered players who refuse to put in work for server pride.

If some of you are new then let a beta tester like myself direct you to pages 300-400 of this entire forum and read up on history before you defend such a ridiculous addition to what was once an attraction to players across all game genres.

This is not a WvW Patch

It looks like 5 sPvP zones were dropped in the middle of the WvW map. There are no new keeps, no new siege opportunities, but lots of sPvP like maps and action. Already several Raid Leaders in my guild have announced that they will not be playing in the middle but continuing raid as usual on the outside. They are leaving the middle to small pick-up groups or havoc teams. With the new “Bloodlust” and “Stomp” bonuses this may be a mistake.

Players are not stupid, nor do they like being manipulated. It looks like the whole update is designed to pull more WvW players into a kind of intermediate sPvP. As a result many WvW players will move that way, many others as they see the results of Bloodlust and Stomp will start looking for the next game.

The new ruins are gorgeous, I really love design of it. I’m however having some FPS issues on some of the points, especially the southeastern “tower”. Game just feels really heavy when I climb up there.

But Bloodlust in it’s current state is horrible, absolutely disgusting.

Overall I have to say no. The ruins are awesome, but I can’t fully enjoy it because of the wierd performance issues.

I quite like the extra fighting areas in the Map.

I am not big on the buff.

I am a bit sick of Conquest… basically, looks like with no one having good ideas they approached the same people who did SPVP to help them “Uhh… more conquest. No one gets sick of that.”

I like the terrain additions; adds a lot of valuable cover and concealment that small groups can use to avoid engagements where before the only real defense against a zerg was speed and stealth thanks to the open fields/water.

Not so crazy about the Bloodlust stat buff; has the same intrinsic flaw as the orbs, it makes the server with superior numbers even more powerful after they were already winning.

Granted, we should not expect perfect balance out of WvW, but there are better ways to encourage playing to win without being downright mean spirited about it.

Utterly hate the buff. Remove it, make it a decent MF and WXP bonus for people in WVW only. This further unbalances fights – which is something Anet said they wanted to avoid.

You misunderstand. I’ve fought bg, jq, and sor. And I’ve fought against worse odds, coming from vabbi, where every day is outnumbered day – back in the old days.

It’s just that, I’m often amused why players don’t try to adapt to the change and have to have it their own way.

Also, I’m not trying to be positive, just being a realist. Which is to see both sides of the coin, or if there are more sides in the mix.

I take it back:
Now that I’ve had more time to play in the new WvW environment my view is that I don’t like either the new locations or the buff.

  • The new map areas are way too PvP (all there is to do there is PvP fight or squat in the middle of a giant toilet). If I wanted to PvP I’d go there and do that.
  • Doing the rest of WvW with the buff was just weird. Having the outcomes of fights determined by flutters of activity on the other side of the world takes the fun out of it.
    (The group I was with kept running into the same two enemy groups. Sometimes we’d wipe the floor with them, sometimes they’d wipe us – it all came down to which of us had more of buff at the time. A couple of times the buff changed in the middle of a fight, and it was noticeable because suddenly we’d go from winning to losing or vica-versa.)

There’s a further problem:
The new WvW mechanism (maps/buff) is designed around a level of organisation that really only exists in the top 8 or so servers. (I’m on TC, which is (usually) the #4 NA server, and even here the level of organisation the updated WvW is designed for is patchy. )

I suppose the idea was that if ANet made the rewards good enough, then somehow the organisation required to properly utilise the new mechanism will somehow magically appear. The reality is that only the top tier of WvW is that way inclined. The rest of us seem to enjoy a more casual WvW than that.

But wvw has always been spvp like. Camps/towers/keeps/smc are big capture points that give ppt, and the server with the most ppt wins.

WVW is pvp in a massive scale. If you guys only realized this now… well, what can I say.

But it is true we at TC need training. Prior to and after this patch since we had lots of transfers. We didn’t really organize ourselves to prepare for serious wvw yet. (i’ve been whining about this for more than 4 months now)

I doubt any server will master the new patch just after a day.

It’s the nature of combat that’s different in WvW. Small scale PvP combats are a part of WvW, but people who get caught up doing that all the time aren’t necessarily doing their server a lot of good. (E.g. a classic role for roamers is baiting groups away from more important objectives.)

If the PvP’ers want to come out to the BLs and do their thing in the new WvW PvP arena, then good on them. But if that means my combat effectiveness (and of those I run with) is going to be going up and down like a yo-yo, then that’s a bad idea.

I would have preferred it if each home borderland only gave the bloodlust boon to the home server. If there were four buffs, one for each borderland and a fourth for holding Stonemist castle, but you could only ever get two stacks at once, your home borderland and that of Stonemist.

So I finally got a chance to play it and after 5 minutes I already hate it dreadfully. My issues with it.

1) It resets so rapidly that people just run around circle capping.
2) It pulls people away from doing the more important objectives like capturing keeps, camps, and towers.
3) It is incredibly cramped, and the quick changing environments make this feel worse.
4) We don’t need a steamroll buff in WvW. Why do you guys insist on placing a stat bonus buff where most people don’t want it.

I suggest leaving the finisher points, but rip the stat bonuses off of the buff. I would drop the amount of ruins down to 3 and have them at the corners so that if feels less cramped. Then your server need to hold 2 for the buff. I’m actually so disappointed by it I think I’ll be taking a break until the Oct 15th patch.

That may be true, but points for stomps is moving WvW in a more hardcore direction.

I’m sure way back before launch when WvW was being planned, they discussed points for stomps and nixed it because it really starts to reward individual or group skill (stat buff aside). And as you say, penalizes poor play.

It’s probably something that should be supported.

no it didn’t. unless you believe roaming = dueling. there’s plenty of those.
as a decent roamer you always go against the odds 1v1ing people with support builds is not a challenge. some extra stat points is nothing compared to a whole extra player or two opposing you.
just adapt and dont risk 1v3 when they have all orbs. but do try that 1v4 when you have them.

I vote no. It doesn’t make sense to buff those who already have the advantage. It completely destroys the challenge and competitivity for both ends.

Also, GvG is impossible to do and the lag it brings is a pain.

Anet better swallow their pride and reverse what they did, and come with something decent anytime soon. And hopefully they ask the WvW community next time before they implement something, because it seems they don’t listen or ask for the communities input.

I like the new content in form of the landscaping, but sadly the bloodlust is to strong. A lot of players thought like me that it would be tied to “1” borderland only, but not as it is now when a server can have 150 points more in every stat, just to give an example that is 1500 more in health etc. It is hard to find motivation to fight guilds that you know you would have a chance against “IF” it wasnt for that bloodlust.

I wish they would remove the bloodlust and change it to give a bit more wxp and/or magic find because that isnt game breaking as this is.

I like spvp as is, but I am not sure if the same mechanic works in wvw. It makes those parts very disjointed from the rest of the map. Was capping the buffs, but not taking camps or scouting, so it felt separated from the rest of the wvw feel. I think to me it feels very much like hotjoin and not like tpvp at all. Or roaming.

I don’t think that the buff is the big problem atm. Its terrible but not as big of a deal as simply the imbalance in server pop and coverage. No mechanic will work until they either fix the pop/coverage imbalance or adjust their matchmaking.
Considering the attitude of the wvw dev I doubt it will happen, so rather than staying very negative about it I think I will just take a break from wvw.

very much agree with u . i love the design and the ruins look great. finally some interesting terrain. i wish the terrain was more like that around keeps and castles , so zergs would be slowed down a little and some choke points would give us advantage as defenders.
but this middle part feels a little disconnected from the rest of wvw. it feel s like im entering a new spvp map when i see the cap points. i even swap builds before going down there and then im stuck with it when i have to go defend a keep.
people also seem to pay less attention to swords on the map.
i wish they would have started with reworking the actual map and the keeps. also instead of the bloodlust cap points a nice gvg area would have made a lot of guilds out there happy.

Well at a raw, level. These stats still get calculated, often including multipliers. Also when you’re talking zerg ( or a 2 to 1/3 to 1 ratio) encounter, then their effectiveness is also multiplicable.
