I have noticed more and more that zergs chase me across half of a map whenever I’m roaming I have raven gotten few offensive whispers from enemy that I’m playing wvw wrong …… what has happened?

Only roamers I don’t like. Are the ones that use food buffs vs people that don’t use them. Start the fight, but run or stealth if they look like they are going to lose, but keep coming back to catch me off guard when I’m hitting a camp. That to me is a dirty roamer… but I don’t know, maybe that’s what a roamer is meant to be nowadays? if so, that is a sad state of affairs indeed.

There was someone on my server earlier that called everyone on tag sheep. There were maybe 10 of us and we’d been outnumbered for 3 hours, we’re were ticking about 90, but we were still fighting. Yesterday, the same person insulted us in some way after we lost a few camps to the 3rd server and said they were going back to eotm. In that case it sounded like a complaint the group wasn’t there to defend? We had also been outnumbered for most of the day yesterday too, but the tick wasn’t as bad then.

In short, not sure what’s going on, probably nothing different than before, bad apples on every server, trying to get a rise out of people and how they chose to play.

I’m just confused, though, if you’re not supposed to roam and you’re not supposed to follow tag, what are you supposed to do.

It would help to know your tier, but even then I’m not sure we can answer this question. It sounds like pretty standard roaming…

A. you are FOOD
B. they suck at pvp so… you are FOOD.

No idea. I love roamers when I’m commanding though. Means I don’t have to deal with camps and sentries as much and can just focus on dealing with enemy zergs.

That’s like saying you choose to run around without armor and it’s unfair if other people wear armor when they fight you.

Your whole post is kind of ridiculous: “I’m without food and capping this camp and if anyone comes and attacks me, he is a dirty roamer”.
Maybe wvw isn’t the mode for you?

Since my job, as a roamer, is to protect soft targets like camps and sentries, I’ll totally ambush people if I get the chance. I don’t have anything to prove—I’m not trying to become the best there ever was or some nonsense.

I can see roamers getting run over if they are actually ganders picking off the tail over and over. If you play the same servers for some time, you get to know the modus operandi of these guild tags…..

This happens to me all the time (T1 server). I take it as respect that they chase me so far and deem me that dangerous to their mighty numbers. Not to mention that while i’m running i’m communicating with the main zerg and usually leading the enemy right into them (or away from my servers zerg’s objective

Fun story, I was running towards green corner on EB, thieves were still the most hated class in wvw, ~20 enemies came towards me, I popped my SR but they ran over me nonetheless. Was downed but stealthed, wrote in chat that they were running towards QL and tried to rez myself. A single enemy came along, saw me downed, did some AA. He must’ve informed his zerg cause they came running back all the way from QL to finish me off. But in the meantime my zerg arrived and killed them.
I called that my special elite: summon a zerg.

Well… If you were roaming on a DBL map, chances are you may be the only player they have seen in hours ^^

I think you’re mixing up ‘roamers’ and ‘duellers’.

Roamers take out enemies trying to flip camps, sentries and small team trying to take a tower (and take enemy camps etc) and occasionally if they bump into an enemy roamer they’ll either duel if they both like that or they’ll go straight for the kill to prioritise keeping points. Roamers will run if they can’t win and they might lose a camp by dying.

Duellers roam the map just to fight people 1v1 and will wait until an opponent is ready (food buffs and all) before attacking. Some times they’ll cap or defend a camp but they’ll generally prioritise duels over points.

This hasn’t really ever changed.

Be sure to whisper those roamers in the large open player versus player game mode and tell them not to kill you because you don’t like it.

Because the majority of players can’t do anything but 1 1 1 . They just want to di PvD, so they don’t like roamers, which usually look for fights, not for doors.

Roamers gank zerglings all the time, often with more mobile builds a zergling doesn’t stand a chance against. Often roamers end up in groups and 3v1ing people who arre built for larger fights.

If 20 people you just trolled for 2 hours find you, you’re getting hunted.

Because wvw isnt really fair or balanced, there is almost always five or more players, who are waiting to gank players running out of spawn, so a zerg chasing is not unusual.
Roamers don’t usually look for fair or challenging fights, even when outnumbered, they run high sustain/mobility, versus zerg builds.

Try roaming as a warrior with Defiant Stance instead Healing signet and run into a roamer with superior mobility and sustain; like a scrapper or Mesmer, or even a Thief, which has a chance against Warrior at least, the warrior with a zerg build will lose easily.

It’s rare to see Roaming groups fighting each other, on the EU side at least.

I dont mind the roamers that do smallscale fights with other roamers or some that fight 1vs1 somewhere.
The most hate goes to the roamers that are kinda annoying and run behind the zerg and try to gank people that stand to far away.
That roamers are mostly first target and getting chased down cuz they are god kitten annoying.

Those roamers are trying to teach you to stay on tag. You should be thanking them.

Actually no I’m on FSP and accept from one of my friend I have not seen eny thief roamers going around for some reason zergs have 2 to 3 thiefs now but cant finde single as roamer I myself play power revenant or power Mesmer when i roam

The reasons a zerg chases roamers or roaming groups span far and wide and are specific to events or feelings known only by the squirrel or group of squirrels.

For instance, when I’m zerging it, I’ll engage in a chasing episode from time to time, but it usually has nothing to do with what that particular roamer has done. It’s usually bitterness held over from an earlier mob episode involving their zerg and me or a small group of us sometimes hours/days/weeks or perhaps years earlier. The roamer in question at the time of course has no knowledge of this earlier episode, and then labels the entire server abunch of 1 spamming zerglings. It’s a vicious cycle really.

The thing is though, if you don’t participate in every facet of the game (roaming, zerging, small havoc, outnumbered server vs overpopulated server etc etc etc.) And if you’re a roamer on the largest server and don’t appreciate the efforts put in by those on the smallest server or are not in the trenches everyday or dont break away from your group/individual playstyle to explore the different facets, you can’t really understand that the others are chasing you because they’ve most likely been chased by you and yours many times previously.

Run over the roamers, gank the backline, run from the zerg if you must and relish the hate whispers when it takes 20 of them to catch you, make fun of trolls on the the opposing server or your own server, run food, don’t run food, play however you want whenever you want! It’s all part of the game and none of us are or have been any better than our competition 100% of the time though out the entirety of this game mode.

There’s a lot of hate towards people who run tryhard builds in groups like parties of five PU condi mesmers/tank tempests who strictly just attack individual players running back to another objective, but do not flip anything themselves.

Yesterday, for example, an enemy server had a guild group of eight PU condi mesmers camping between our home keep and a camp they captured, ganking any player or small group (less than 4) running towards the camp. They laid no siege elsewhere for towers, and had many of their third’s towers captured and not defended.

You’d drop out of the keep, head to the camp, and take 60 stacks of confusion and infinite CC locking. Stunbreaking or even using a condi cleanse would kill you.

Brought five or six people to fight them, and they just ran away and hid in stealth. Friendlies dispersed after taking the camp.

Five minutes later, they’re back to the same thing. This went on for several hours.

They’re not playing for objectives/PPT to justify a gank.
They’re not actually looking for fights or small group skirmishes.
They’re not actually interested in a fair fight or a fun one.

It’s those types of “roamers” who I have absolutely no respect for.

Roamers in T1 are basically there to kill off anyone getting back to the zerg these days. They have 1v1 builds and a lot of them will run with multiple roamers. I rarely see a roamer these days by themselves or with one other person. Its usually a group of 3-5. If you get even numbers though, they generally run away. If you do find and beat them in a 1v1, they will send offensive whispers and more than likely only come back if they have a friend.

Its pretty bad and I generally stay away from them because a majority are just trolls now.

Exactly as DeceiverX said but it’s not just mesmers, seen a 5 man (2 DD, 1 DH, 1 Scrapper, 1 Ele) guild doing this with power builds too. Instant burst from the daredevils and dragon hunter with the others following up to take out any other solo players that come to help.

Soon as a larger or equal size group comes, it’s stealth and hide, wait then resume ganking.

The only other type I don’t particularly like are the ones that dog you in stealth trying to burst you down, when it doesn’t work they run and follow from a distance and keep trying. I say it’s annoying because you can’t engage anyone or take a camp as you’re going to get jumped by that annoyance but I wouldn’t say it warrants a guild coming to kill you or corpse jump you. It’s just annoying for the sake of being annoying….kinda like those 20-30 man groups that build an AC to take a tower against 5 people.

That’s because with all the passive “save your butt” skills in the game now most 1v1 fights for a thief are an uphill battle. Especially since they removed guard stacks and a zerk thief can literally be 1 shot.

I had a poor condi trapper thief trying to kill me for about 10 minutes yesterday while I flipped the frogs, I managed to down him a few times but he always popped his refuge before going down and I had no cleave, after that I completely ignored him and just shrugged at him a few times while I went on about my business.

I don’t believe that there is hate towards anyone that roams (remember that roamers scout as well for larger parties).

Still, I can’t ignore that many people that choose to join a zerg wouldn’t do so that often if the game balance was different. Many people would like to roam solo or in small groups but current balance doesn’t leave much room for every profession or any team composition.

So, I would expect if a bunch of people sees a roamer, especially of some professions/elite specs, that are considered quite powerful, they may chase him down for longer and possibly vent out some “hate” solely because they might see you as the reason that they don’t dare to roam outside of a zerg anymore.

Still, whispering is just silly. While running on my Revenant/Herald I rarely witnessed such behavior. Maybe because I am just “FOOD” for certain professions/builds…

Tbh, most roamers want to fight other roamers, but it’s always fun to make some PvE players run for their lives.

I know why zergs chase my guild around when we are roaming lol.. Between fights, we take towers and camps a lot. Servers are starting to learn that a few people running around can and will actually do things that hurt the enemies PPT game, which is what a lot of those zergs care about.

There are some that feel that everyone should play the game exactly the same way. And when they see a roamer running free and not on tag like god intended, they get mad and zerg the roamer down.

Also OP, if you’re having problems with zergs while roaming, use a “roaming” profession/build. Which have been classically defined by stealth and or escape skills. The more this mode dies, the more ppl will chase you out of lack of action. But, it’s also a open world PvP mode, so you can’t really be upset if the enemy wants to chase and kill you. Plus, it’s tactically sound to kill every enemy. Especially if it get under their skin enough to log and write a forum thread about.

Roaming and dueling are 2 different things. Anything goes in WvW roaming. If its red its dead. Duels are a different matter and even then if you arnt using food its because your a cheapscate.

Other night, same bloody thing. I was on my glass ele, just going about capping stuff. Some kitten mes starting dogging me (with food). I knew I could not bet him with my set up, so tried to avoid him, and he was Condi/stealth crap. but somehow he keep tracking me down. after killing me a 4th time I said F it, and change to my engineer. meat him again at a camp. killed him twice and never saw him again?

was he a Dueller or roamer? to me, he was just a kittening kitten. I never! ever started the fights, even when I was on engineer, he always started them.

As for the food – I never use food as a matter of principle. so if I lose, “well he had food” if i win – " Ha, and he even had food" its win win for me

If you’re not in wvw to fight and are seriously outraged if someone starts to gank you, then why are you even in wvw?
Ah alright, the food thingy – everyone who beats you and uses food plays dirty while you never use food so you have an excuse if you lose – makes perfect sense… looks the other way

Some people feel roamers take valuable spots from zerglings.

Enemy:
Most often it’s just like dogs, if you run they’re going to chase. If you pick off too many stragglers or solo replacements, they may go out of their way to stomp you.
