So I want to get some clarification on whether or not the new quartz is not going to be available after the Bazaar of the Four Winds ends, or is it still going to be available aside from getting it from your home instance?

The answer to your question will probably greatly affect the market value of the crystals I suspect…so I am also interested in finding out (to know if I need to stock up now or not..)

From what we know the only available quartz after this event will be in home instance if you get the achievements for it

With charged quartz on up being account bound i am unsure i see the need to stock, as the market is inherently limited once everyone that care have a full celestial set for their alts.

Quartz will be part of future living stories.

The last two content updates tell the story of the Zephyrite vs the Sky Pirates. And I am 100% sure we see much more of these two factions and some permanent zones related to these factions.

We’ll have a consistent supply of crystals. The question is whether or not they’ll be any demand for them?

• You can only mine 3 per day(after Zephyr event)
• You need 25 per day to get a charged crystal
• 5 charged to make an armor piece

And everyone will want a full set because they are the best gear to build your MF set on.

While i generally agree, the situation is a little bit better than you think. This is a rich node – mening that while you can get only 3 harvesting strikes on it, you can get more than one crystal per strike (i got a total of 8 crystals from one full harvesting for example). Also, it seems to have a chance (how high it’s yet unknown) to drop a charged crystal directly.

It would be sad if this new resource ended up limited to only one stat set. I hope we will see other uses later on (and that at the same time other ways to get it will be introduced).

I’ve gotten 1-5-1 quartz from the home node (at least sometimes one ‘tick’ gets you 5 instead of 1) and the wiki is reporting it can on rare occasion give you a charged quartz (equivalent to 25 and saves a day on the second time gate).

Its gonna be bad after the event, but not quite as bad as it looks at first glance.

Could someone explain how these nodes work ? Can you get only yours or can others get yours too? Does it always appear where you put it or does it move around?

Certainly Myst, the nodes appear in your home instance after you get the Gift of Quartz from doing 16 of the Bazaar of the Four Winds. Each race has there own home instance which you can look up here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Home_instance
It’s no different than any other ore node. You just walk up and use a pick axe on it. It’s account bound and reset’s once per day.

I haven’t bought any crystal’s yet. I already have a few stacks from game play. I almost received a full stack just from WvW last night.

Can you mine multiple friends’ nodes or is it one home node mined per day? So if I mine my friend’s, can I still mine mine?

Even if the home instance nodes are the only source of quartz after this event – by the ned of the month, the market will be so swamped with quartz that it will be a long, long, long time until supply runs dry (if ever).
They are currently at 42 copper a piece.

Not many people want to craft celestial armour and weapons in the first place – and those who do, need to be level 400 in the respective craft(s), and they need the recipes. The recipes will be the bottleneck! They will probably go up in price after the event.

And most people who want celestial items are already crafting them right now. quartz

I wouldn’t worry about the quartz supply as it will always outshine the demand.

Unless new recipes are added to the game that require quartz, but if ANet adds new recipes, I am very certain that they will also add new ways to obtain quartz.

I mined my home instance one the other day, I got 1 charged, 5 normal, then 1 normal. Total of 31 normal quartz from that node…

Quartz isn’t hard to get, being able to only make 1 charged a day is a frackin pain though!

Not necessarily. You can still mine at best one node daily. All this does is give access to several more people – which will not affect crystal availability that much.

Quartz Crystals also drop from heavy bags. Assuming that loot table stays in place, we won’t be restricted to just the home instance.

I’m hoping that because they put it in a loot table that is not specific to the Living Story, we’ll see more uses for it after the Bazaar is over.

…yes, noticed that as well. Seems they have stealth-patched it to a normal node. Apparently it was just too good for us.

There’s a chance Labyrinthine Cliffs might be permanent. So it’s possible that the merchant will still be there. Just the Zephyre are gone.

No one knows except for Anet.

And the two candidate for the election is trying to sign a trade agreement. So it’s “possible” those merchant will be permanent.

So am I just blind or something, because I’ve walked all over my home instance in Salma District and I can’t find the quartz node. I did get the 16 achievements, and it shows it my panel, but I can’t find the node now.

If you have done this – then when you enter, turn right to the orphanage – behind the cart to the left where you can walk along the side is where the node is.

Yeah, I used the gift. I’m wondering now if I messed up using it out in the world instead of actually being in the Home Instance.

By the orphanage, back towards the area where the slide is? I checked all around there, still nothing.

Just as you enter, turn your camera a bit right. There should be a red cart there. Node is behind the cart.

Went back to double-check around the cart, still nothing. Checked all around the yard of the orphanage and back towards the slide, not there. I’ll shoot a note to Support.

Try another home instance Darkshine. The Grove is nice & small and quick to access. From what I understand, it appears in all home locations but can only be mined once a day.
