Sanctum Sprint - Teleportation Galore!
Don’t give up hope. An Aussie guildie of mine got first, albeit with the help of two of the “warp” powerups.
Also you may find some random groups that will help you get the achievement.
Main: Caeimhe – Sylvari Ranger
Alts: Charr Guardian, Asura Elementalist, Human Thief, Norn Necromancer
The lack of Oceanic servers is really a shame. :/
Cannot agree more!
I can’t get pass any area which requires skill #3 Lightning Pull when there was just a slight lag in my connection. The lag shortens my leap and hence I keep fallen into the gap and respawn at check point every time.
This is very very very very very very very very very very very very frustrating!
Stop playing Sanctum Sprint then, it obviously wasn’t designed for people with 50+ pings.
Sanctum Sprint was the only place my lightning pull worked.
I placed 3rd once, and I was absolutely delighted
I really like Sanctum Sprint, but I hate that it sometimes lags badly, and I suddenly find myself somewhere completely different, and falling off a cliff. There goes that pole position.

Even with my good connection I occasionally get rubberbanded back. I shudder to think of how it plays with 300+ ms lag…

There is the lag and then there is that guy who uses one of those powerups that slow/push you back that ruins ur jumps.

I have ~300-500 ping
Lightning jump is the worst offender, sometimes it flings you way past where you’re supposed to land, sometimes it comes up short. Both end up with you (me) going from 1st place to 6th place repeatedly.
Worst thing that happens is when you fall and rubberband between where you landed and where you respawned, then you loop between the two locations for quite a bit.

Exactly this. The lightning pull results in falling short most of the time, then rubber banding between landing and respawning for as much as 20 seconds at a time.
The air jump skill has a bad case of rubber banding as well. The only one out of the three that works just fine is the sun sprint.
It’s truly a shame that this isn’t taken into consideration when programming content like this. It’s even been stated by ArenaNet on several occasions that the lag between Oceania and their servers is purely on their end and they’ve been ‘looking into it’ for over 8 months now.
I get so confused by all the Australians complaining of rubber banding. I live in New Zealand in a rural area and I’m able to consistently place in the top 3 for Sanctum Sprint >.>, I’m not saying the performance is flawless, but as long as you’re aware of where your character should end up and respond to that accordingly rather than just what you see on screen you should be fine.
The thing is though: Most players are really nice and generally if you ask the people you’re playing with if they would mind letting you come first next time so you can get the achievement they will be happy to oblige. I’ve been in multiple groups where we’ve done this for players and just waited at the end and let them be first to cross the line. People play the game for the achievements and once you’ve come first it doesn’t matter what you place for the rest of the 25 races for the achievement, so people dont mind.

Very sad.

Good for you. Your latency is twice as fast as someone in WA. I get so confused about people not understanding basic geography.
He lives in rural NZ, so his lines will be rubbish. 600-800 ping, probably.
Anyway, I get the rubberbanding from 3, from Auckland, New Zealand. It is not too common, but it does get me killed occassionally.
Now number 2 propelling me half a metre, making me do a complete stop, or just failing to activate in time, THAT loses me first.
