This zone needs to be permanent.
I totally agree. Or maybe it comes every weekened? Or perhaps a few times a month? And with each coming back, they stock a new item/mini-pet/minigame/ect. I found this new content to be very interesting and exciting! Hate to never see this again.
I would love it if this zone was available every so often. Especially with the racing.
Is it actually stated anywhere that the zone is going away? I know the ship is leaving, but the map itself is part of the world map and appears to be permanent to me.
Maybe if Lion’s Arch can establish trading ties with the ship it’ll come back at regular intervals in the future… I hope that’s what happens.
^ That’s what I imagine will happen. We establish permanent trading ties with the Zephyrites as part of the Living Story, and after that, like the SAB, the Labyrinthine Cliffs will make periodic returns to Tyria to allow players to do Sanctum Sprint, harvest Quartz etc.

That’s what I was thinking, I’d be willing to bet that’s the whole reasoning behind the story portion going on. Let’s hope so! : D
The ship is an integral part of the map, therefore if “the ship leaves”, the map must become inaccessible. I wish this was one of those permanent additions like Southsun too, though this is way more interesting than Southsun.

Yeah, other new stuff that’s left haven’t been shown on the world map, so I would imagine it’s sticking around in some fashion, or at least coming back. They have mentioned the quartz node being the only way to get it, so it might go away at least for a while. I do hope we get more vertical maps like this though, and that somehow we get those zephyrite crystals around the world. Like a slot canyon map leading us to the crystal dessert in a couple of months with jumps and such like in this release would be AWESOME. That or a few new jumping puzzles from time to time that happen to be by spots that the ship dropped some crystals by and you need to use them for it.
agree with OP………..in that i love it. i’m just not sure how you make it worthwhile after you get all the crystals as a permanent zone. i’d rather see them make it a multi-year event (maybe the ship visits 4 times a year) with different puzzles/events.

This content being temporary is an insult to the hard work that went in to creating it, not to mention that the implications of this are; nothing, not even a new zone, will be permanent.
The devs speak of never needing to make expansions if they keep up this living story microupdate nonsense, but if there aren’t new, permanent zones added to the content, expansions will be necessitated.
I REALLY hope that it stays (They get a trading agreement between Lion’s Arch and the ship or something similar) They even placed it on a location on the map (with waypoints) so it would be shame in my opinion to take it away from like 2 weeks or a month. I’ve had more fun on that map today than I have in the entire game for over a month (even if I play every day and I normally hate Jumping Puzzles) I can live with bi-weekly updates to replace an expansion if its fun and adds stuff to the game but PLEASE don’t take it away all the time! Just take off the rewards we got during the event if you want to keep the special feeling players can get by being there during the event.

Current indications point to the Labyrinthine Cliffs disappearing after 4 weeks, but due to story reasons, it will make periodic returns to Tyria, similar to how SAB will return at an unspecified point in the future.
I sure hope it is permanent. I am enjoying it so far.

I agree that the Labyrinthine Cliffs should stay. As I wrote in another (now deleted) thread:
- Some players enjoy looking at beautiful zones even after an event / when they’re empty.(I found myself going back to Southsun every month after Lost Shores because I enjoyed the artwork.)
- Some players need this zone to roleplaying, especially if they play characters of Canthan descent.
- Some players enjoy jumping puzzles and might just get a kick out of this.
- The “deepest dive ever” should stay available for those you love diving jumps. Finally a jump that leaves us enough time to play with the #1 and #2 skills!
I would be perfectly fine with most of the merchants being removed from the map, as well as the quartz nodes. (Story-wise, it makes sense for them to only be there for the duration of the Bazaar event.) And the airship would have to leave, taking Sanctum Sprint with it, that, too, is something I can easily accept.
The Cliffs zone itself is beautiful and useful to many players even outside of this living story chapter, and it would be a shame to lose it.
But it will be empty / abandoned!
So what? The rest of the playerbase can easily ignore the zone. What’s the harm in keepin it?

this should be a monthly event! dont remove this content!
This is the most beautiful zone in the game. Amazing work!
It really should be permanent. The ship can leave and return once a year.
Also, I had a lot of fun jumping around for the crystals. I would love to see some of that places turned into mini jumping puzzles.
I have a theory that the living world team that made this event is the same team that made the Halloween event, Wintersday, and SAB. Basically all the best ones. They deserve a raise.
I could easily see this as being a recurring piece of content, after the initial story arc of procuring the trade agreement between LA and BFW. Since Colin has mentioned that recurring content will be something the living story leaves, I’m tending to lean that way in regards to this. I can see the ‘map’ itself staying, but the Zephyr and the traders would ‘make their rounds’ so to speak, before returning.
I agree. I love this zone. It’s got a lot of potential for future stories. And since the fleet is floating, it can be added onto very easily if necessary because there’s no adjacent zone border to worry about.
The WP fees are quite steep. I was using my main last night and probably dropped 20s easy. I’m just glad the fall deaths don’t break armor.
Tonight I’ll finish getting my 40 crystals but with a low lvl alt to minimize WP fees. Stupid that I didn’t before but I was just too into it to stop and swap. Hopefully my lvl 7 Ele will be cheap to port around.

Arenanet need to make this and Southsun proper full-size zones that are included in map-completion.
Hear hear, Arenanet, let the ship fly away if you absolutely must, but leave Labyrinthine Cliffs and populate with other stuff. Really nice there!

I love this zone too. To be honest, it is my favorite zone in the game. Not because it is new, but because it very much reminds me of GW1. For me, it is like a cross between Embark Beach and Kaineng City. I am really hoping the city can stay even if the ship flies off.
