After reviewing all the evidence, it’s clear that Kiel’s focus is to do harm to a great hero, rather than protect the city. The nerve of her forcing Evon to be a part of her inept Lionguard, and stealing all of his weapons and armor under “emergency orders”. Is it as expected of a corrupt politician as her.
But there’s a silver lining in the storm clouds of evil that we call Kiel. Evon is going to outfit Hobo-tron, and power him up to be the Mighty Morphing Hero-tron!!!

Plus I was jokingly suggesting Scarlet plan was to dig a big hole and throw Evon and his fans into it to save Tyria from its own version of the Bieber plague.
Suddenly, I am willing to defend Scarlett to the death. All hail the new Goddess of Tyria!

Because he’s the hero Lion’s Arch deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we’ll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.
We neither need, deserve, nor want him. Sadly, he is what we GET.
You’re 100% right. He’s not our hero.

Evon isn’t a hero, that would compromise his mission. Since he is, or was, a member of the Ash Legion that would make him an infiltrator, which also means that heroics are frowned upon as evident by him fleeing instead of fighting. What Ellen has done is provide Evon an opportunity. As quartermaster of the Lionguard he can monitor the ebb and flow of battle much more acutely than if he was posing as a merchant. Wouldn’t a true hero of the Ash Legion accomplish the mission no matter the circumstances? I know Blood and Iron Legion would, but they make poor infiltrators to begin with.

Evon is a crafty charr. Sure Ellen Kiel is trying to harm him by stealing his wares, and forcing him to submit to the Lionguard, but it does give him the ability to gather valuable intel. Keep in mind what he states to Hobo-tron – the Lionguard is now keeping a close eye on his activities. Never underestimate Evon Gnashblade resolve.
Now as for him being a hero. A true hero doesn’t ask to be one. He just is. Batman never asked to be loved by his city. No. In fact, for the good of the city, he asked that he be branded a villain. Self sacrifice is a key attribute of all heroes. This is something that Evon Gnashblade embodies.
Evon Gnashblade has proven to everyone that he’s the true hero of LA,
How exactly has he done this?

A true hero that takes a cut off of all your TP sales, locks goodies behind Black Lion keys, and re-invested all that money into, well, it sure as heck wasn’t the defense of Lion’s Arch, was it. Maybe he can spring for a nice memorial for all the new mass graves.
Evon Gnashblade: Just Another Self-Serving Politician
Paid for by the Aw Jeez Not This #### Again Coalition.
Evon is a selfish coward, and in this patch he has proved it. When the Lionguard conscript him to act as a quartermaster in this emergency, he threatens to “pull up stakes” and leave. He’d rather abandon everyone than help. The only reason he stays is the threat of execution. It takes a -death threat- to get that son of a grawl to do his civic duty.

If he concern with the Lionguard monitoring his actions then he is a poor infiltrator, however it should be noted his former Warband leader did have the temperament of a typical Blood Legion warrior so perhaps the warband was the shame of the legion. As for underestimating his resolve, unlikely as he has proven my estimates to be correct. He has done nothing and continues to do nothing without being intimidated to do so.
Evon has yet to demonstrate self sacrifice. Everything he has done was for his own benefit. Killing his previous Warband Leader was to enact his own plan, running for Captain’s Council was to take advantage of a presented opportunity, and lastly if not conscripted into the Lionguard he would of been depicted as the Jastor Gallywix of Tyria.
It seems you Evon fans have ran out of arguments and now just sprouting the same material in hopes of boring the opposition into surrender.

Now now, I’m sure you Kiel supporters are having a grand ole time seeing Evon suffer. Keep this is mind – Evil never wins. Kiel appears to have the upper hand at the moment, using the rules to draft Evon into the Lionguard so she can steal his agents and equipment.
When you have an over-reaching government, pushing rules upon citizens that force cooperation and the unjust confiscation of private property, you have an uprising.
Do you hear the people sing? Singing the song of angry men. It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again!

That is incorrect, Evil always finds a way. Also Ellen isn’t evil for drafting Evon, it is a completely understandable action given the circumstances. At least he’s Quartermaster and not part of the first wave that will be sent to begin retaking the city.
When you have an over-reaching government, pushing rules upon citizens that force cooperation and the unjust confiscation of private property, you have an uprising.
Apparently a crisis is the perfect time to start killing each other. Marvelous, really. Let’s ignore the talking Weed that assaulted the city and routed the Lionguard to instead kill one another over the results of an election. It’s truly a wonder how the Elder Dragons have yet to conquer the entirely of Tyria, but then again this is probably why only Zhaitan was active the others were too busy laughing.
Disclaimer: I am being sarcastic.

Actually, Evon warned everyone about the imminent attack. As did our PCs, Marjory, and Vorrp.
You can’t “force” people to be prepared and largely, everyone didn’t take the warning to heart. Disaster happened.
Evon was right.
Gnashblade’s stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of running his business and being a conscripted hero he never especially signed up for (kitten that Kiel!)
If they had listened to him (and us), perhaps LA would have been in a marginally better position to defend itself.
Or at least more lives could have been saved via a pro-active evacuation rather than a reactive one.
But ironically enough by that action on Ellen’s part, she’s making Evon something of a hero… whether he likes it or not.
I don’t think Ellen Kiel knows how much Gnashblade resents her efforts with him so far.
But I think once he realizes he’s doing a lot of good and this situation actually makes him something of a hero (Evon outfits our heroes and doesn’t afraid of anything), he’ll warm up a bit.
He’s a big grumpy cat.
You’d be grumpy too if you were chased out of your home, suffered heavy losses, and suddenly made to play hero with a person a former rival you don’t exactly see eye to eye with.
Can’t criticize the guy for being mad. He has some pretty good reasons to be.

Whilst I can understand Gnashblade’s frustration, you’re all incredibly foolish if you honestly think “Kiel” is to blame. She’s simply a scapegoat, a plot device that could be called under any other name with any other personality.
Had Gnashblade been voted in Kiel would be where standing where he is right now making the same complaints as he is, making our decision pretty pointless in the long-term.
Lion’s Arch was always going to be destroyed. ArenaNet has already stated that it was in the works far before much of what we’ve been parley to has happened. The person you voted for? It was nothing more than a cheap ruse to create tension, the actual person could be have anyone, the votes could have been rigged and none of it would have made a lick of difference.
Lion’s Arch would still be burning.
Cutthroat Politics was supposed to be fun. The story behind it really doesn’t mean much in the long-term.

I don’t blame Kiel. She tried to warn the council like Gnashblade did. They pooh-pooh’d her. Few people listen to “the end is upon us” types of warnings, even if it might well be.
Don’t know if Gnashblade is privy to that info, but yes, she tried to warn them like he did. From the sound of it, I don’t think that Gnashblade knows that.
In general, you can warn people that something bad is coming but unless they take you up on that warning and act, there’s nothing anyone can do for them except to pick up the pieces or to bury them after the fact.
The sky really was falling. It fell. On LA.

Evon should look upon this conscription with more open-leveled eyes. Because he’s in the Vigil, that means he’s technically part of the Pact, so he can easily set up an agreement with the Order of Whispers to secure goods, the Priory to give him first dibs at selling new inventions and books of new knowledge, and the Vigil higher-ups to help procure equipment for him to sell to help make them war funds to continue their operations.
I can only picture this helping out Evon’s business in the long run, and he has Kiel to thank for this. Odds are if he’ll get over his grudge dealing with her, he’ll realize that he could easily secure more advantageous assets from everybody involved. Because again, he can make business with all of the Pact, AND he’ll have an “ally” up in the head of the council. There’s nothing for him to lose here, absolutely nothing.

Sorry, but a hero never partners with evil. Why should an honorable charr, like him, want to be associated with someone responsible for the deaths of so many innocent Lion’s Arch citizens?

Black Lion Trading Post. So it’s obvious the only way to stop the villains from succeeding is to close it down.
Didn’t Evon reject Heal-o-Tron’s request for an improved chassis? He was at least open to the idea until Heal-o-Tron admitted he had no money, after which Evon told him to shove off.

I hope Evon dies, just to see the reaction of all his fanboys
You are an evil, evil person! How can you even suggest such a thing!
Evon has done nothing but good works and right now is helping the people of Lions arch by stepping up as the quartermaster supplying the troops. Such without bigotry he is that he will even help a poor misunderstood golem.
I am not one to badmouth others, but what has Ellen Kiel done? She is sitting safely in her airship drinking Vabbian wine while us common folk are on the ground looking after the injured and fighting for our lives.
So after we graciously escort a fleeing Evon from LA (Kiel is in there fighting mind you) he has the gall to shut down an Asura gate leading out of LA, effectively dooming several civilians. Some hero.
Nah, that was Captain Shudd, not Evon. She’s the one in charge of the Asura gates.
As much as I enjoy watching Evon squirm during all of this (seriously, Evon, you’re the RICHEST merchant in all of Tyria, and you’re selling me almost the exact same stuff that I can get at any other merchant in Tyria?), I won’t apportion blame to him that he isn’t responsible for.
That said… Come on, Evon. You KNEW that LA was going to be attacked. Yet you didn’t seem to have taken any other additional precautions about it. You didn’t hire any additional guards for your caravans (I had to save your dolyaks for you), didn’t have an evacuation plan for your employees (you abandoned them to die in the burning ruins of the BLTC building), and you didn’t bother stockpiling medical supplies and other goods that would be in high demand during an emergency (and you call yourself a merchant…)

Nah, that was Captain Shudd, not Evon. She’s the one in charge of the Asura gates.
She did what she had to do. Can’t have Scarlet’s army invading Tyria’s major cities from what was once a central hub into all of them.
If Captain Shudd didn’t do that, the attack on LA wouldn’t be localized; it’d be international.
You didn’t hire any additional guards for your caravans (I had to save your dolyaks for you)
You don’t know that they’re his dolyaks. They’re just dolyaks with supplies. Some might well be his. It’s a safe bet.
But the BLTP isn’t the only merchant in town. Just the most prominent.
didn’t have an evacuation plan for your employees (you abandoned them to die in the burning ruins of the BLTC building)
No one had an evacuation plan. Including Evon. Evon’s plan was to organize a large scale one for everyone. It didn’t happen.
He fled with the rest of his workers when the place lit up. It can be safely assumed some died or are among the folks we’re saving from LA.
Evon himself could have died or been trapped just the same.
Evon assumed and was probably vigorously assured the Lionguard would be up to the challenge. Wasn’t so. Gnashblade is understandably sore about this ATM.
didn’t bother stockpiling medical supplies and other goods that would be in high demand during an emergency (and you call yourself a merchant…)
Umm… as you said earlier and as we know, Evon’s still the richest guy there even after the fact. He’s been conscripted by the Lionguard to outfit and supply all of the mentioned.
He’s still giving away free boosters, armor repair kits, and revive orbs during all of this. He’s loaded with cash and goods. Evon didn’t get rich by being stupid.
As less than thrilled about the situation he finds himself in, it’s a safe bet he’s gonna make this work to his benefit.
Again, bitter about it as he might be, Kiel did him a favor that he can capitalize on and Heal-O-Tron has offered another venture that looks promising.
(Though Heal-O-Tron better not be sacrificing himself! And where’s Marcello??)

A businessman to the end, Evon.
Then Evon found a profitable end to giving Heal-o-Tron some free upgrades, which is as of yet unknown. Still, helping both himself and others, the way of the trade.
Did he actually end up giving Heal-o-Tron anything? The impression I got from the last bit of conversation was something like:
Evon: “So… You want a chassis that can take it, but not dish it out?”
HoT: “Affirmative.”
Evon: “Heh, good luck.”
I didn’t hear anything in that conversation that implied Evon actually DID give HoT anything. His last comment read more to me like, “Shyeah right, good luck getting that from me.”

It’s ironic that while Kiel is ordering the Lionguard to plunder Evon’s supplies, she is far outside the city delegating other people to risk their lives. Why isn’t she in the city, protecting it like we are? Evon ironically seems closer to the action than she is, and he’s but a humble merchant. I guess she doesn’t want to get her hands more dirty than they already are.

Evon Gnashblade has proven to everyone that he’s the true hero of LA, and I predict he’ll be saving the city for a second time. Councilwoman Kiel on the other hand will probably just ask our hero characters to do all her work, allowing her to plot her next evil moves. That said, it’s time for #Team Gnashblade to take up arms.

Evon is a selfish rat. Being forced to give away stuff you can easily afford is far from being a hero.
He has a machine that can replicate any item with just a bit of glittering dust, so once he has the blueprint, he can make countless copies for practically nothing. Yet he sells them by the unit, charging full price each time. Only a few consumables like boosters and kits cost him more for extra materials for their effects.
So far he only sells finishers and bank tabs as unlocks. That’s not enough.
He’s wringing his customers, and the worst part is that they are blind to this shameless scam.
Unlocks are always better.
No exceptions.
Don’t look at me I voted for him…

Because we players don’t require a singular leader to maintain order. Morale is at an all time low, Lion’s Arch burns, their commander may very well be dying or even dead. From how it is presented to me Ellen appears to have been promoted to second in command following her ascension to the Captain’s Council. If this is true then it falls to her to maintain discipline amongst the Lionguard.

She’s in there fighting and trying to save Lions Arch all the while Evon is fleeing and you have to escort him out. Kiel finally realizes that the city is lost so she then leaves with Magnus and then begins planning to retake the city.

Charr were just reclaiming their ancestral homelands, humanity the invaders of Tyria. So I think it justifiable the Charr call down a meteor shower on Ascalon to finally break through the wall.
Remember that humans appeared on Tyria and HAD TO find their place to live. Charrs already had so much fields and didn’t want to share, so they pushed them back. And Ascalon kept their land for OVER 1000 years. Remember in these times, charrs were just mindless beasts who couldn’t even talk, only growl. It’s kinda dumb to “reclaim” something after so many years. That’s why it wasn’t charrs who succeeded at The Searing, they were just pawns in a bigger game, game made by Abaddon. He wanted to destroy Orr, so he ordered HIS MINIONS to give some magic to charrs (minions of his minions) and lead them, these mindless cats, to attack everything.
~if you ever think charrs were smart and individual
So, no, without help of HUMAN god, they would never breach The Great Northern Wall. And still they didn’t reclaim “their” lands, as our King Adelbern, and Ascalon, lives forever <3

Is this supposed to make feel sorry for the Tyrian humans? Also Adelbern is not my king, nor will he ever be. He stubbornly refused the aid of the other humans simply because of old grievances, his stubbornness led to the death of his only son, and finally the complete destruction of Ascalon as a nation.
What makes him better then his predecessor?
Also existing as a spirit unable to pass through the mists to stand before the gods seem a fate worse than anything Abaddon could ever inflict upon the Ascalonians. That was the greatest achievement they could obtain, to stand before the Gods in the Halls of Heroes.
