I can’t check it at the moment, but does that link contain any information about the vendors leaving? I thought that was just the announcement stuff (it’s been a while since I read it).

This is not the sort of information they should be putting there. Sorry that it’s so important to a handful of people, but it’s not actually news.
Actually, that is exactly the sort of information that should be going on the game launcher.
When content is starting. When content is ending. What bulk items you should cash in.
That is what PLAYERS should see when they start the game up because that is what PLAYERS need to know.

According to the wiki, you can still buy Kite Fortunes from the Gem Store, which also have a chance to drop the scraps, as that was originally how you got one.

It took me until the patch day to get the money (i’m 15.) and yes. i decided to spend my money on gw2 instead of something else.
Money for what? Gems? What does that have to do with your problem of not being able to trade Heirlooms?
He wanted to get the level up item, but didn’t want to if he couldn’t get the money to buy another character slot. He got the money for the character slot and now knows that he wants the level up item that is no longer available.
Thanks. It all makes sense now.

yup, that would explain it, rarely if ever read that part unless something is “down”…I would have thought they would have put it in THIS forum, the one related to the event….that I visited every day. After all- it was here that they posted that everyone should keep their Blade-shards because a vendor will be coming to trade them with. I saw that note…which of course is suspiciously absent from the “news and announcements” forum….
Maybe they need to standardize on their communication? I also know that 90% of my guildmates never visit the forums…and had no idea that found belongings and etc were going away.

it wasn’t just on forums mate.
twitter, facebook reddit every social media was pointing to the official post about the removal of the merchant, failing to read any of those there is also word of mouth, friends guildmates etc etc.
failing that, well I’m sorry but it’s your own fault.
asking for mine and everyone’s effort to be nullified because you failed to heed a warning is also NOT ok with me and it’s a bad idea.

I would really like to know what effort would be “nullified” by bringing back a vendor for a few days for other people to get rid of items that they stacked up in their inventory because they didn’t see that a vendor was leaving?
This would affect you exactly….wait for it…..zero. If you already spent your heirlooms and etc…it affects you zero.

I don’t get what you mean with that. If the merchants were brought back for 2 days it would make no difference to what you are able to do or what you have got. It wouldn’t harm you in any way.

everyone was racing and farming all over to try and get their heirlooms before the merchant was gone, now all of a sudden bringing it back because someone didn’t heed any warnings does nullify that effort.
I would be kittened if they did, and I assure you a lot of other people would be to !

not to mention I can’t think of a single event where they took the merchants away immediately following the event, dragonbash, zepherytes, etc etc…all still have usable currency after the events ended. Heck you can still turn in tickets in southsun which no longer drop to the southsun merchant.
So the precedent was set that you would have time to still use anything gotten during the event long afterward…even after those things dried up.

Again, we are not asking for the Heirlooms to be brought back into the game…you are correct, people missed their chance to get those….which is the effort you are speaking of.
WE are asking for the heirloom MERCHANT to be brought back, to use the heirlooms and found belongings that we already ran around and gathered (mainly found belongings for me since I didn’t bother with heirlooms).
So in essence, we are asking that OUR effort not be wasted….you know…the effort to run around and collect these so that we could spend them at the merchant.
Especially since we were told to keep ONE of those (the blade shards)….although not in “news and announcements”. We were told to keep those here in this forum. I assumed if we should keep one, we should keep them all since I didn’t see the other announcement….since it was not placed HERE, under the event.

it’s the same thing !
asking for the merchant to be brought back is the same as asking for the heirloom to be brought back why ?
it will give you the ability to turn them in so you can get the now rare selfless or thoughtless potion.
the only reason they removed it i to make the item prestige go up now introducing it again nullifies that prestige.

That makes absolutely no sense. It would cost the SAME AMOUNT of currency it had costed before, you couldn’t get any more than you deserved and had farmed for. Besides, i would like to turn my belongings to items, what you get with those isn’t “prestigious”.
Let’s think of the earlier living stories. You could turn fortune scraps to skins. You are still able to, but you aren’t able to get the fortune scraps. Do you think that “nullifies” everyones helmet&backpiece skins?

NOT the same thing at all.
So you would nullify someone elses effort of actually going around over the two weeks and collecting all of those, because they missed an announcement placed on a forum that they don’t go to….
Whats more effort? Going and collecting them to begin with? Or turning them in to a merchant? If they went through the effort of collecting them they should be able to turn them in….it’s silly to think otherwise. Reward the effort. It does not diminish your effort in any way.
And I don’t even have any heirlooms!
And as for the found belongings, there is nothing that was sold by that merchant that you cannot get everywhere else…its just a convenience to once again be able to get something for the effort that was put into the game collecting these.

Oh, and why is sonder the seller trading stuff like candy corn?
Because you can still get candy corn and it is tradeable?
HMM? WHAT ABOUT THE FORTUNE SCRAPS THEN
edit: ACCOUNT BOUND, CANT BE GOTTEN ANYMORE FROM ANYWHERE.
Fortune scraps still drop from kite fortunes, if you have some left. Even though Kite Fortunes arent obtainable anymore, there was an incentive to not consume them all before their LS Event ended because they give you a random Boost.
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: CrashTestAuto.9108
I spent most of my stuff a while back, so it doesn’t really bother me. However, I don’t think it was clearly communicated that they were going away. Even after reading the patch notes I still had to go and check if they’d disappeared because I couldn’t see why they would have in the current context of the story. It certainly isn’t obvious lore wise they were going away as this portion of the living story is very much still happening. Why have the heirloom vendors wandered off?
Moreover, given how random the timings on patch night are, and this one being fairly early, it was entirely possible to miss the opportunity even if you knew they were going away today. You could have traded yesterday, of course, but you would have been justified in think there would still be time today.

Bag of scarlet alliance supplies still drop belongings if you have some left. They also might contain rare minis or perma quaggan tonics so it might be worth it to wait without opening them if you get lucky. If not for anything else, for saving inventory space.

I really can’t see ANet sending an email ingame to say oh, by the way…. The only thing we really have seen them announce in-game is if a patch is coming or that you would be thrown out for inactivity in certain instances.
Possibly they could have had NPCs talking about the vendors going away but even that would not fit in story-wise. How do you know the vendors were going away and why day or so before the ending of this event. THEY don’t know or could possibly know what is going to happen.
I am really sorry for those who did not check or ask and got caught not being able to exchange their hard work. I suspect nearly all of us have had that happen at one time or another as we figured things out in the game. That is life in GW2 and in RL so you can learn from it. If you don’t know or aren’t sure, ask in chat, ask in the forums. (My server talked about this several days ago in map chat several times)
If you don’t have the additional funds to make the purchases you want, start asking for gem cards as birthday and holiday gifts or look at what you do not need to spend to save up for a gem card for yourself. Start farming and selling on TP to get monies to bankroll for events like these and it is something everyone can do.
Another side note, please never, ever state your age if you are a minor on the forums no one but your parents should ever know that info.

Minis stack up to 250 in the collectible tab. If you want to save inventory space, just delete your heirlooms and belongings because they are worthless now.
You could have opened all your supply bags before the patch ended and listed your rare quaggan tonic at a higher price without loosing space to either bags or tonics.

“Advertised and promoted” would imply that they put it out there everywhere so that no one would miss it, rather than a single post in the “news and announcements” section of the forum. Had they placed it in the Login section of the game, I would have seen it. Had they done an in-game email, I would have seen it. Had they made an announcement in ALL of the relevant forums (such as this one and the living story one, and the general game one) I would have seen it. And had they done all of that advertising and promotion…I would be right there with you agreeing with you 100% But I feel that if I missed it….and I visit the forums at least once every other day, I read every announcement on the login screen (even about gem-store items), I read every in-game mail and actually talk to vendors and surrounding people…If I missed it…then there were a TON of people that never saw it at all.
I would not call what they did “Advertised and promoted”…..I would call it “Mentioned”. SO you cannot blame people for missing it and simply say “it was out there”
That reminds me of “hitchhikers guide to the galaxy” when they are destroying the earth to make a new transgalactic highway and the humans are saying “WTF??” and the aliens simply say…“Hey, the form was filed with the galactic central office, it was located, on display in subbasement 57 of the galactic central offices. Its not our fault you did not have the means to travel between the stars to go and see it.”

at your side note, i doubt it’d be dangerous to state my age or anything, but this thread isn’t about that, if you feel like you have something else to say of that then PMI already stated why he still trades in fortune scraps.
Goodbye.
And i already stated why it’d be better to save the bags.

TBH, a lot more people than my parents know how old I am…
It would also be easy enough for this new blades ‘n’ such vendor that’s coming to also accept belongings and heirlooms, allowing peeps to trade them in then.

Look, you were given a window to spend heirlooms. It was advertised and promoted in the last week. Just because you were or were not thinking about what to spend them on does not matter. You didn’t spend them within that window, sorry you lose out.
That’s a wonderful example.

Okay here again is how I found myself not in the problem the OP and others have had.
“Hey a living story event. I’m getting drops unique to that story. I know the living story is every 2 weeks or so. Maybe I should keep an eye out to see what those living story items may or may not do before the event ends.”
It is GW2 living story player 101 to look into such things before the story ends.
Oh, and why is sonder the seller trading stuff like candy corn?
Because you can still get candy corn and it is tradeable?
HMM? WHAT ABOUT THE FORTUNE SCRAPS THEN
edit: ACCOUNT BOUND, CANT BE GOTTEN ANYMORE FROM ANYWHERE.Fortune scraps still drop from kite fortunes, if you have some left. Even though Kite Fortunes arent obtainable anymore, there was an incentive to not consume them all before their LS Event ended because they give you a random Boost.
Bag of scarlet alliance supplies still drop belongings if you have some left. They also might contain rare minis or perma quaggan tonics so it might be worth it to wait without opening them if you get lucky. If not for anything else, for saving inventory space.
Minis stack up to 250 in the collectible tab. If you want to save inventory space, just delete your heirlooms and belongings because they are worthless now.
You could have opened all your supply bags before the patch ended and listed your rare quaggan tonic at a higher price without loosing space to either bags or tonics.I hope you understand now, why fortune scraps are still tradeable with Sonder and heirlooms are not.
Quaggan tonics do not stack and they do not have a bank tab. I also would not have wanted to list it at any price, i have no idea how high they could potentially rise. What if i sold it for 10g if it was 100g the day after?
So you want Anet to make extra NPCs everytime you cant decide on a price to sell your items for or running out of inventory space?

No thank you, extra tab for sonder the seller is enough.
