I have found myself disappointed with the lack of any sort of title with this update. Maybe the next patch?

At the moment there’s not much of an incentive to move away from the events and zergs and rescue citizens, and there’s something of a penalty in that you’re getting less loot and achievements.

Good idea, gets more people saving citizens and out of the zerg. Also quite an appropriate and well earned title considering the activities we have to do to accomplish it.

Not likely to happen though, once content is released they only ever fix glaring issues and bugs.

It would diversify gameplay a bit more and besides – there still are too few titles in gw, so that would be nice as well.

At least a ‘Revive 2 citizens in Lion’s Arch’ on the daily quests every day would be nice.

Well I don’t get it…? Do you get ONE rescued citicen for speaking with one with a fist? And do you get some for escorting children? The information is so vague…

I am not one of those who farms or whatever, I run around doing events for fun and I save those I see. If there where an achievement for it, I would like to know more.

Or just have a tier’d achievement for overall citizens saved in a single cycle that counts for a cycle you’re at the end for that ends at 1500, with the title being at the end.

You do get some saved for completed escort events though, so both are necessary.

maybe we also need a title for getting instadowned from full health 100 times by a aetherblade thumpers with it’s 20k+ hits?

fun aside, good idea, right now civilians are mostly ignored – I assume mainly because there’s no apparent reason to encourage them. the counter doesn’t go up until they reach their destination (I assume), which means they have to be escorted. the game doesn’t explain any of this and those who don’t frequent the forums probably have no idea why they should care about those civilians, as they can’t see any immediate reaction on the civilians saved counter.

I’d wear it.

This is an AWESOME idea. There have been many rounds where no one tries to save civilians and the majority just farms. Only once have I been in an event where just over 1.5k have been rescued. I was sure that that was the main point to the event (other then trying to slow down the miasma) but I suppose saving civilians doesn’t give you as many rewards as fighting enemies which is a shame. So +1 to this idea

replace this here please instantly with the silly achievement that requires of you to successfully do every single defend event….

Definitely need some more incentive to encourage players to actually look everywhere for survivors.

Well it’s not like Evon walks back into LA every hour. One Cycle is the entire event, after that LA becomes too toxic to enter until we find a way to counteract the aetherblade miasma.

The reason you can repeat the event is because anet has experimented with one time only events before. A lot of people, including me, couldn’t even make it to the event and a lot of people got angry.

It’d be ‘Lifesaver’ for rescuing, hero would be for evicting/killing scarlet and LA is not a warzone (or less of one)

I like the idea, but “Hero of Lion’s Arch” wouldn’t be a good title, what with the massive death and loss that was suffered.

How about “Savior of the Lost”?

This would be great. Also add an infinite achievement that is unlocked after you complete this one and awards loot bags for every 100 citizens saved. This way you can keep people going.

Yes, BUT, LA is still deeply in trouble (I highlighted this in your reply) So we may have rescued some NPCs (particularly happy that some of them were known characters such as Urmaug and his buddies) but have we saved LA itself? Nope. So a title could potentially come up in the future.

I’d still go for “Legendary Defender of Lion’s Arch” but yes, the idea is nice and it could possibly help the event.

I agree it’s a good idea. Might I also ad, that it would be great if things didn’t stay the same during the entire 2 week content? Maybe they could patch few tiny updates with changes as it goes so it feels more alive and less stale? For example your idea could be implemented but I highly doubt they will do that.

Well I assume the people who arnt saved die. We need to get back in to confront Scarlet but as far as the people, there would be none left to save. We saved Evon, his supplies, a lot of soldiers and civilians, and I even revived Marjory once.

When I first saw the title of this post I thought “no” because arena net gives titles for everything and there are too many in game imo atm but this one would make sense because it marks a historical time in history

Just to answer this, since no one else did…

Speaking to a citizen with a fist is the start of the rescue. It starts them moving. When they start moving, they’ll head towards an escape point, which might be one of the three exits from the city but will more likely be a Whispers Agent NPC standing stealthed somewhere. When the citizen reaches the Whispers Agent, they’ll escape the city and add to the counter.

So just interacting with the fist NPC isn’t enough, usually, you need to lead them to the exit. All the defeated NPCs you’ll see scattered around waiting to be revived were once fist NPCs who someone interacted with to make them run, and then got taken down by enemies before they made it away safely. Once an NPC actually escapes, new ones will spawn in the same area to be rescued once more, so leaving a bunch of them defeated will really slow down the rescue counter.

I’ll take it… along the “Savior of Tyria” title that somehow wasn’t given for completing the personal story after slaying Zhaitan, an elder dragon.

Although, to be fair, i am vary, vary, vary, vary, vary glad to see Lion’s Arch finally and completly obliterated. I would prefer it to stay that way… hint, hint, nudge, nudge.

Many more titles in general would be great, but Anet is really slacking here.

This is why I couldn’t feel anything at the end of the PS, together with the reward disaster, it was really dissapointing and they didn’t really improve since then, well they trying. Rewards are a running gag for me now. :/

Although it should be the title for a few LS combined, not just for one LS. That is a big title and should be treated as such. I liked this LS but I don’t think the struggle was enough so that we would have such a title. Maybe after we defeat whatever Scarlet digs up and once we do it would be great to have such a title.

Evon’s the kittenbag of Lion’s Arch, closing portals to prevent people from escaping isn’t exactly a heroic thing.

My character still runs through Lions Arch with the “Avenger of the Dispossessed” title.. It’s quite apt I think

I’m all for it! At least give us something for all those civilians and the subsequent headaches dealing with farmers. Because those RNG boxes probably aren’t going to give us much in the end.
