I just came back after a break and this event has already started so it will probably have a week or two left. Is there anything recommended to do, before this goes away forever? And what do you do in this event as well?

Well your probably too late now to get halo or horns skin by collecting heirlooms.
Also this entire Battle for Lions Arch is a bad patch, really annoying.
So to be honest, if I were you I would go to sPvP and play as much solo/team queue over the weekend.
Why you ask?
Because they have improved the rewards over this weekend, you get:-
Solo queue 20 supply bags, 1200 rank points and 300 glory .
Team queue is 40 supply bags, 1700 rank points and more glory.
The supply bags can contain mini magnus, 4+ different endless quaggen tonic + other nice loot.
You can also spend the glory on skins/20 slot bags other stuff.
Probably the most rewarding activity you can do in Gw2 this weekend by far, play solo or team queue. Don’t worry about losing too much, chances are in solo queue you will end up with a 50% win rate…

So just to clarify, those are the same supply bags that drop in LA which means I can get the spinal blades?

If you want spinal blades, make sure you hit the market and buy the four parts of the blueprints for them. I’m not sure they’ll drop after this event.
Sprockets can be upgraded to blade fragments in the mystic forge, and blade fragments sometimes pop from the sprocket node in the home instance (if you have one). So, there will be a slow but steady way to get blades even after the event ends.
The power cores for the final upgrade to the backpack are from the current event, but very hard to get. I’ve not even tried for them, so I’m not sure what you need or how you get the one you want. Good luck if you go for them, otherwise all I think you really need is the blueprints.

Seeing as the newest update isn’t annoying, you can do the event and farm up those spinal blades in LA. The music is great, the atmosphere is great, events are normal but the main event with the knights and hologram are awesome

my tipp : just enjoy the game – the rewards for mindless farming require perhaps a bit more time, than you have currently.

Hell of alot more than a bit of time is needed. The materials needed for the Ascended one is crazy. Most are not too bad except for the Vision Crystal , saw what’s needed and said whatever i’ll stick with the advanced one.

- level an alt with this event.
- do other things.
entirely up to you
I have levelled 3 alts to 80 from level 20
Even tho I’ve only gotten greens from the holo chest every time it’s been (mostly) fun

For the fun side of things, I recommend the vistas. The way to get to some of them has changed from the previous, peaceful Lion’s Arch. They may change again when the invasion ends and the clean up starts, so check it out even if you’ve already unlocked them.
Also, go hang out by your favorite NPCs and see if they have anything interesting to say.
