I am in TTS and I was looking forward to the wurm fight somewhat. A new fight, seemed interesting. So I gave the wurm a couple of real shots with TTS, and I’ve watched streams of dozens of other attempts from TTS and BG. There is still a 0% success rate.
Let’s compare with Teq.
When Teq came out, there wasn’t really a dedicated community to killing him yet. Servers just attempted it, and most were caught by surprise at the scale in difficulty compared to the rest of the game.
When dedicated communities (the bigger servers who make good use of TS, TTS, etc) started appearing, success rates for killing Teq skyrocketed when the appropriate strategies where used.
With the Wurm, it’s been figured out essentially. From the start the bigger communities where anticipating it, and were ready to learn the fight and beat it as quickly as possible. A little tweaking here or there in their strategies may still be left, but in general people have attempted it around 30 times and know how to fight it. The communication is there, people talk about what they can do differently each fail but it always boils down to the same things, there’s nothing else to figure out.
But the success rate is still 0%.
Don’t you think it’s going overboard? There are maybe a couple thousand players still even trying to beat the wurm right now because they want world first. If I go there on DH, there’s barely anyone there except the optimistic newbie that has never tried the fight, not knowing what he’s getting into. What will happen after world is downed for the first time? A lot of people will stop doing it. Do you think success rates will suddenly climb up like with Teq without any changes to the fight? No, because the organization level of the people fighting wurm is already at the Teq level.
If no changes are made, success rates for wurm fight will never above 5-10% even with a dedicated group. It requires everything to go perfectly for 3 huge zergs, to time it perfectly and it comes down to the wire.
The 15 minutes is just cutting it too close, even for the 2-3 places that are actually organized enough to have a real shot at wurm. It needs to be maybe 18 minutes or 20 minutes. And the amount of HP the heads have, you barely have anytime to kill them… again ANet went way overboard.
What is the goal of this content, to make content for the 0.0001% people who will keep trying it even after world first? Because even Blackgate or TTS are running into walls, and that’s not normal. No one outside of these communities will ever beat the wurm.
You made content for maybe 3000 people to enjoy out of your entire game, and you made it borderline impossible even for those dedicated communities. This is nowhere near comparable to Teq.
The wurm content brings out so many issues :
-Overflows (and being bumped to different overflows when the queue “ends” instead of being sent to the main server). Having raid content as open world content leads to too many issues. It’s a pain in the kitten to ever get organized for this content. Why make content then make it extremely painful to even try to attempt it?
-The design philosophy is flawed. Already the content was made only to please the 0.0001%… but even there I can guarantee even the most dedicated people are going to take a long break from Wurm after world first is done.
-Not having instanced raids is something big communities are in dire lack of. Communities like TTS are attempting this fight because they WANT to experienced great content that requires organization. But at the same time, most people would rather be able to simply set up for an instanced raid than jump through hoops and hurdles to set up an OF.
Please do something about this fight. It’s not balanced correctly.
