I think they’d be more viable if they worked more like engi kits…. But that is just my opinion. I personally like a lot of the conjures. As with all utilities, they are situational. That’s why I love eles so much. Every encounter, I have a different utility set up.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

I think the only way it could be viable:
You select one wich works almost like engi’s kit (instant cast, high CD recharge), and which is on F5. I’ll NEVER take a conjure for a TRUE utilitie skill (exept elite ^^)

Conjures will never be viable in PvP until they’re changed to function like engi kits.

Conjures will never be viable until they address the innate lack of statistical survivability on the Elementalist. Our HP is abysmal and our armor is abysmal forcing us to either rely entirely on Utilities to crank up survivability (Cantrips) or to gear to make up for the lack of attributes which then allow us to focus more on offensive burst damage (Arcane) and survivability (Cantrips).
The only time they are even remotely useful is PvE where the game play is so easy that you can easily get away with equipping them with no real penalty or loss (or rather the penalty/loss is easily ignored or overcome back the lack of difficulty).
Conjures will never be viable in PvP because ele’s survivability is terrible (low hp, low armor, no mobility), so its better to use cantrips as utilities. Also, the heals (number 6) are balanced around having water attun heals, so you cant keep the conjure for long.
For PvE everything works….
We sacrifice our 20 abilities for a very limited conjure. That conjure needs to last longer, i.e. more stacks. On top of that, it needs to be worthy enough to replace our 20 abilities. Our abilities give us damage, CC, healing, buffs, mobility, and more. Replacing all of our abilities with 5 abilities that are painfully temporary and are less capable and largely worse than our normal abilities is far from worth it.
I think buffing conjures is an interesting idea, but if they want people to start using them, they’re going to need a lot larger of a buff, as well as a bit of a mechanic rework. It’s likely conjures won’t be usable until they’re OP, IMO. Then they can be brought down a tad from there.

Until they function like engi kits and have their own “F” bonus.
Right now switching to a conjured weapon severely limits elementalist’s versatility. If you want people to use the weapons, they have to improve that versatility. The best way to do this is making them more reliable than, as Chaosky so aptly put above:

Conjures might be a little better if they were on a longer timer rather than charges. But I like the changes that’ve been made to them so far. Especially Fire axe and earth shield.
But other than FGS, i’ve seen a few eles use earth shield or fire axe in a match and they did quite well and generally, elementalist has pretty good survivability, but it can be hard to balance with dps/defense
