I don’t understand why people are so upset with the changes to elementalists.
Double cd on RTL, okey. But it wasn’t you only gap closener, and it was from weapon and not utility. And the cd is decreased by 50% if you hit an enemy, I.E if you use it as gap closener.Mist form was a very strong spell and still is. Engineer got the same change, maybe warriors also should get it.
Passive cleanse got 5sec cd, I don’t know if that’s a big deal. (Edit: I noticed this was for spvp only, so I guess it didn’t change in wvw.)But that’s basically it, or did I miss something?
Please enlighten me, because I really don’t understand.
try rtl to kill one of the bad thieves that missed his opening “i win” mechanic from stealth….
No chance considering stealth is the natural rtl counter and they stealth every 4 seconds. *
for mistform, compare it to elixir S as CD and everything.
Not even comparing to mesmer and warriors spells ..those lets you attack actually.

Learning ranger. Always been the hardest to beat since release while they keep getting stronger and my ele keeps getting weaker.
“Learning”? Seriously? Watched a 15min youtube bunker ranger guide for traits/equip/pets and weapons.
played 2x times hotjoin to learn the skills, then tried my first tourney game. 20 games later i didnt loose a single 1vs1 till now. Incredible point holder and really easy to play

Its simple:
Eles die to conditions in no time, that means that Eles have to remove conditions on every move they do.
“But hey!”, everyone said: “You have condition removal on your normal heal!”
Well, guess what, it is a channeling spell. Means that a lot of stuff will just disrupt you and you wont heal/remove conditions at all. We had mistform to compensate for that, now its gone.
BUT: d/d eles could live with that: auras, evasive arcana and a lot of vigor can keep you alive. Staff Eles cant. Staff Eles rely on Mistform in almost every battle they can take, because they dont have the bunkery of the d/d ones. Same goes for other builds (but nobody uses them in WvW).
So, d/d eles got a small nerf from that, most other builds got a big nerf.
BUT: It wasnt enough that RTL should get the “Mosty buggy skill ingame”-Award. I really dont know how long it took to fix the bug that made you stuck for seconds after every RTL. But now Anet even took about 30% of mobility of d/d builds too, by doubeling the cd. Now you have to kill a lot of cats, rats, owls and whatever is in your way when trying to get across the map fast.
Now there are players who dont like the thief class. They cant play it and feel guilty because they started a thief once and stopped playing it early lvls because it is just stupid. These are the people who created a Elementalist instead to play d/d. Mobility, some dmg, some tankyness. But mostly the fun playing a light-armor wizard class directly in your opponents face, made Ele interesting. Now the fun is gone, because d/d is not mobile, staff cant survive 2 heartseekers and the other builds dont bring anything usefull for the group.
Basicly all the balance changes in this patch made all classes more equal. Just to make it harder to stick out.
Only from a WvW players standpoint.
run around Wv3 find a squad proceed to harass and kill them loot and repeat process untill my ribs hurt from laughing from the party invites to tell me i need more nerfs and im a scrub for playing an ele…60% off these come from thieves lol
Every class dies to conditions very fast if they don’t remove it. Possibly not necros and warriors with their huge hp pools.
Other classes didn’t have nearly as good condi removal as elementalists had.
“Learning”? Seriously? Watched a 15min youtube bunker ranger guide for traits/equip/pets and weapons.

Yeah, played around 140 games on ranger but still not quite grasping it. Still feel stronger on my ele but then again I have played 1800 games on my ele.
I just realised the title was d/d ele’s, I play s/d, though I have played probably around 400 d/d games.
Making a new character on Skyrim, hoping it will hold me untill the next class ner…I mean, next class balance…
Tomb Raider is on sale on Steam right now. They got my money this time. No more for Anet. Tonight was the first time in a long time I did not play, and I am ok with that.
I started a guardian
Crying non-stop about the RTL nerf and annoying the heck out of everyone I play with.
Still playing sPvP with D/D Ele and having people telling me “What?! People still play D/D Ele? LOL”.
leveling a necro, not sure why, might have been a little bit to much farming and yeah…i dont get it why i have a 40s cd in pve. i heard a lot of mobs complaining and reporting. :P
bet it was one of those snow bunnies i had to flee from!
Next patch: Due to all Elementalists killing bunnies just to cross a map at the same speed as every other class, all skills will be turned permanently into town clothes skills for 60 seconds when you enter combat & you will be in the disguise of a carrot.
Made a 75% bunker build… I like it.
I stuck with my hybrid build and do just as well in combat. I can still keep up permaswiftness, so I’m not worse off than the other slow classes. I just have to spend longer running around out of combat because of the RtL nerf. So my suggestion to you is to get a good book for when you need to run from Lowlands to Golanta’s.
I don’t play around MF (it’s just a panic button anyway) so the change doesn’t bother me. RtL means less go real fast in 20 second bursts, plenty of speed ups for a d/d, again not a deal breaker for me. No QQ here.
Sorry not sure how to quote:
No I got the Jist of the thread. People whining about a couple nerfs like its the first MMO they played. Crying that the class is broken. Good players understand the basics of the game correct. They also understand the class is not broken, the class is fine. Good players adapt and move on. It’s been nurfed. The fact that Rtl and Mist are only two spells in a ton of other spells. If two spells broke the class for you. You are bad. If you think the class is now broken because of two spell changes you are bad.

I think the point you are missing is that with the RtL nerf most decent players will either outrun you in wvw or out “chase” you. The limitations of ele in the role of roaming solo become blatant once you face a decent thief or warrior. While it is true that you could win 1v1 one of the key aspects to roaming is the capability to escape and sustain a flee ie the capability to keep just out of range. The issue is that ele loses that ability.
I will give you an example on my warrior a thief and I engaged. As we “dueled” a small group from his server showed up they chased me. From Bluelake past Godsword and back to Bay. There is no way my ele could have kept up that type of chase. That was at least 7 cycles of rush CD and other mobility skills. Never got out of combat long enough to port. That’s the reality for roaming. A DD ele would never be able to keep up with the pace and would not be able to out run the pack.If you don’t have stealth you need mobility it is as simple as that.
You said something before about smart players adapting. If you intend to truly roam a smart player would switch classes. The is no adapting on DD ele simply put it would be smarter to switch classes for roaming purposes.
Please don’t mistake QQ for intelligent analysis. DD ele is the inferior class and has limited roles in the rest of WvW. It is by no means broken in terms of DPS to sustainability but it lacks the greatest necessity for the set which is mobility.

You in the wrong thread btw… I don’t see any complains here, about RtL or MF, only what people are using post-launch, perhaps since you are a good player you could actually offer advice and what YOU changed since patch, what’s the point of this thread. Reading comprehension is needed.
Disregarding those who post that they start another game or other silly things like that of course… No reason to mess with those, clear trolls.
And to add a bit to the thread:
I’m using the exact same build I always used in sPVP, nothing changed, as I’ve always said, the nerfs didn’t affect the “problematic” builds at all, I still play my bunker build and see little to no change.
In PVE now I usually run a more damage oriented build, pure bunker is boring, I’m thinking of getting some Cleric gear, since Full Berserker might not be optimal for a dungeon run anymore, or go back to PTV, I already got some of that. It will be a pain getting all that Ascended equipment again but who knows, might be better in the long run.
I personally love the RTL change, well timed dodge / evade when you RTL to me, then I have a whole 40 seconds to pound your face in. And that’s for all the times you’ve used RTL to disengage from every single fight when it looks like you might lose. Class needed adjustments, I should not have been able to 1vs many the way I was on my ele, then RTL out when things looked dodgy, I might start playing my ele again now it’s been balanced down a bit, might be more of a challenge.
I might start playing my ele again now it’s been balanced down a bit, might be more of a challenge.
Maybe it would been more of a challenge if you didn’t use the most overpowered build in the first place.
How about your guys?
Playing other games.
I might start playing my ele again now it’s been balanced down a bit, might be more of a challenge.
Offensive 0/20/0/20/30 staff seemed pretty tough to me before the patch, but I guess I’m just bad.

Was about to ask why anyone`d put fire traits on, then saw the top.
LOL
doing jumping puzzles… did 12 yesterday…. and I swapped to S/D healing build for dungeons. Seems to give me survivability, decent damage output and better controlled support compared to D/D Also swapped to glyphs instead of cantrips except for when there are scary boss-fights.
running dun as a farmer ,try to leveling a mesmer (too lazy),and looking 4 some other useful build …
Been wondering why they felt the need to nerf other builds as well as D/D bunker. Staff feels pointless unless you are behind an army and don’t get me started on scepter…
Also gone back to playing Monster Hunter on my PS2 less mmo garbage to deal with.
I swapped one trait and was good to go.
I dunno what everyone is filling their diapers about. Arrow Carts are the real killer these days anyway.
to be honest my main is engi, but i did played ele as well together with all other professions except warr and ranger
what simply blows my mind is how hard Anet nerfs and in some cases destroys various builds with fixes and their view of improvements
so instead of hoping and waiting for various improvements, bug fixes, adapting etc,
downloaded beta Neverwinter, and playing now that game, checking forums, and deciding what to do next
and i can state its not only withing eles, veterans from my server started to shift focus from GW2 aswell
sry for broken english
Still playing the same 0 20 0 20 30 balanced burst build. It’s painful at times, and I feel like I’m running in mud between the triple RTL nerfs, and zephyr’s boon nerf.
Going from perma swiftness and 12 second RTL to ~60% uptime swiftness and 32 second RTL is terrible.
1) Played around with a 0/0/30/10/30 scepter/dagger signet build. That was alright.
2) Created a guardian, which is so awesome. The more I play it, the more it seems superior to the ele in pretty much every way.
I have know idea why you guys are all crying. You guys had a nerf, please join the thief class where they have had a nerf every update. Ele is still a great class, you guys just cant solo 5 players anymore and run away if things look bad
Else is always mortal, always in the past, trash at the moment, maybe mortal in the future…
Mortal: Adjective – Subjective to death
Immortal: Adjective – Living forever; never dying or decaying
Sorry that was annoying me

If you and 4 friends of yours were soloed by an ele its a serious L2P. issue and not the eles fault.
I’ve been playing a Thief in WvW (don’t like sPvP). The only problem is that it’s kind of boring, and the skill lag affects me more.
I see no reason to play a D/D elementalist in WvW. Mobility, sustain, and burst is all available on a Thief, and with decent toughness (2700 armor!) it’s not like she is particularly squishy either. And I’m not even locked into melee like D/D.
The best thing is that there are so many fail thieves that the class will probably keep getting buffs.
I switched to D/D ele from engineer because compared to the laughable D/D Ele nerf engineers got literally kitten by the nerfbat. Meanwhile i laugh at all the tears here…
Imagine they would have deleted evaisive arcane, elemental attunement got a 20 icd and 30% of your dmg abillitys got cut in half. Thats just half of the treatment engineers got since release. So your crying looks a little bit ridiculous.
I made just 1 little adaption, i change the elite to fiery greatsword, thats it.
And lol this is one powerful elite.

Are you sure you didn’t mistake it for supply drop?
nope, because supplydropp is a bad joke compared.
You just dont value an anytime ohsnap button which breaks stun, remove condition and provides stabillity. Try an engineer and you will.
I would trade supplydropp for the greatsword anyday, if engis would hav access to it, you wouldnt even know that there is a skill called supplydropp, like most people here dont know anything from the engineer class anyway.
And those little funny turrets get destroyed with 1 spell from the ele.
(edited by Kontrolle.3514)
Short answer: Same thing I did before patch. Increased pity towards ele builds other than bunker.
Long answer: Same thing I did before patch. Increased pity towards ele builds other than bunker. Alt+ tab frequency increased as it takes me a long time to cover ground in WvW. So slow.
Mistform change: Not being able to pop ether renewal/cleansing fire or flame or w/e, during mistform sucks. That is all. Answer: Changed timings and stuff, hit the “oh kitten” button earlier. More attentive to getting immobilizes (though they’re not a huge problem) down before MF. Using MF to move to a spot to heal as opposed to a chance to heal.
RTL changes: FML moving across map. Don’t have 10 air for perma swiftness, only have the swiftness from attunement swap. CD from RTL + Lightning Flash means I’m at the back of the pack a lot now. Ambient creature mortality rate increased, neutral creature aggro rate increased, travel time increased. Effect on fighting? Minimal, though I’ve never been much of a troll ele. Rarely ever use RTL to escape. If I do though, other classes that could keep up in the past overtake me now. HS spamming thieves are always nipping at my heels now. Using it to move around the field of battle sucks more now as RTL is glitchy and any attentive/good player will dodge anyways.
GM Water trait: I play very little PvP so not feeling the effect. Also haven’t ran it in a while. Basically just as said previously from 6 -> 5 on your heavy condition removal cycle. Not too devastating but there’s been many times that’s been my cause of death.
Signet passive healing reduction: It’d suck, livable though, and haven’t ran it for a while either.
In closing: Ouch to non-bunker builds, this patch must’ve sucked huge for you guys. Bunker build? Meh, another day in the office. My assistant just got slower.

Supply drop is arguably one of the best 1v1 elite in the game while almost no one uses fgs in pvp.

Engis saw some pretty decent buffs to Healing Turret (Hooray for Static Discharge builds!) and Elixir U with the last patch, and only the nerf to Elixir S really hurts, yet eles got hit by that, too. This seems like an odd time to quit.
Personally, I can’t stand being restricted to melee range, so I don’t play dagger/dagger; I generally run Berserker’s scepter/dagger so I can actually do some ranged damage.
With that in mind, I’m most upset by the recent patch due to the devs’ apparent disregard for anything that isn’t effectively a melee bunker build (s/d is still mostly restricted to melee range).
I made just 1 little adaption, i change the elite to fiery greatsword, thats it.

Very powerful, if your enemies are standing next to a wall; otherwise, it’s really only good for mobility. If you’re referring to the damage of Flame Wave, that’s a 2 3/4 second channel, so its damage is rather lackluster.

Are you guys really trying to argue with me? I have full equipped ele/engineer since ~5 months, so do me a favor and stop babbling. You dont even know how hard enginers was hit the last 2 patches so just inform yourselves before you try to teach me thx.
A side note: jes i only play WvW because spvp is… dont have to say anything right?

I play an engi. You simply aren’t making logical sense, saying you quit your engi this patch, when the class recieved an overall buff, rather than back when Kit Refinement was nerfed, and that Conjure Fiery Greatsword is better than Supply Drop.
Obviously you dont play it alot then?
1. incendary powder nerf is extrem, its a brutal dropp in dps for condition builds
2. confusion/retaliation cut in half.
Together its a dropp of overall 50% dps output in WvW
The ele lost just a bit mobility which the engi hasnt much anyway and the mistform nerf which i use just to stomp/rez people anyway.
And fiery greatsword IS better then supplydropp because it does a very huge amount of damage AND provides you with phenomenal mobility on top of that you can share it.
Supplycrate is nice for 1v1 right but thats about it. It doesnt help me to escape the zerg, it doesnt do tons of damage, it can be countered so easaly like pressing 2 buttons on a D/D ele. You uys have trouble with playing D/D ele? srsly its really time to quit then because its still an oped faceroll spec with tons of damage, healing, support, escape and condition removement.
(edited by Kontrolle.3514)
Retal was reduced by 33% and confusion brought down to reasonably level that was already present in pvp. If ele has phenomenal mobility how would you call ranger, thief and warrior mobility?
Obviously you dont play it alot then?

I’d hardly consider the change to Incendiary Powder a “brutal” loss in DPS for condition builds. It’s annoying for HGH builds, but it’s really only harmful to Flamethrower Kit builds, which were pretty much nonexistent anyway.
As for the confusion/retaliation nerf, the damage has just been brought down to its level in SPvP, which is the format the game is balanced around, anyway.

True, the Fiery Greatsword provides what is possibly the greatest mobility in the game. The best part about the Supply Crate is the stun+immobilize, though, so you don’t really need to worry about the turrets being destroyed.

Then you have even less knowledge about this game as i first thought.
Sry my bad. We might debate that topic as soon you understand why this nerf is so brutal espacially if its your only source of burning even without grenades.
As for the confusion/retaliation nerf, the damage has just been brought down to its level in SPvP, which is the format the game is balanced around, anyway.
Very well, then we should apply all those spvp nerfs like cleansing water nerf and cleaning wave nerf to WvW as well right? no? Why not?

So youre telling me that the best part of supply crate is hard countered by a 36 CD cantrip? I have to agree. And btw we all know that in WvW roaming mobility is > everything else.
