You shouldn’t be forced to use all 4 attunements to be good, they need to make it so using 1 or 2 attunements is viable.

Too bad because what the OP said is exactly how Arenanet is treating the classes.
Ranger more control over pet is bad because players are no able to handle it.
Elementalist: most of them only stay in 1 attunement.
This is what the devs think of the classes.
So what he said is true. The elementalist needs to be able to stand on it own with only 2 attunement, but reward players that masters all the atunements. Right we are punished for having 3 other attunements, with high cd and low damage. The other attunements are not even doing what they are suppose to be. Fire was suppose to be AOE damage, water healing, air high single target damage and earth defensive skills.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

What would you do? Simplify it and ruin it for all people that fancy the way of playing it, so new players gets into it a bit faster? A poll put engineers and elementalists on top, of professions that were the most fun to play. Probably not because we have ONE attunement..
It IS rather easy to get into, as I see it and using a few attunements only works just fine. And if it’s too hard to get into PvP, because of attunement dancing, then you need to practice. People are perhaps too lazy and spoiled, who knows. Of course it has to be user friendly, but simplifying it could ruin the fun of the class entirely.
No thanks, I love how easy it is to get into elementalists yet how much further I can go with it the more I play.
What it needs is balance changes.

I want to go in the opposite direction, I want moar skills except in each attunement.
Let’s use our underutilized weapon swap mechanic to swap skill sets within an attunement!

It doesnt seem like hes asking for the game to be easier, just would like to main a element and stick with that while being valuable.
Complexity overwhelms most posters on the elementalist subforums.
If ele is too hard for you to learn to play, go roll a warrior or ranger. If you don’t have the patience to learn the curve, don’t bother playing a mesmer either.

Then its just unbalancing.

Do you know how much work would be required to do that. It would almost require a full overhaul of the entire elementalist profession, not to mention that we aren’t in beta anymore so if something goes wrong along the way then the ele would be either super OP or super UP for another month before the could fix it.

You can have both though, make it so that Eles can choose to specialise in 2 elements or can spec arcane to be decent at all 4 attunements how it is now.
eg: speccing 30 fire/30 earth makes those attunements have a 5sec recharge at the cost of making water/air attunement have a 15sec recharge, something like that.
The current design forces attunement switching, which isn’t fun to everyone, raises the skill floor to the point where there are “Ele sucks” all the time from new Eles. Ele is pretty horrible to level for new players, which for a game trying to be accessible and casual-friendly is a big design no-no.
Not to mention the forced versatility requires Ele to be a relatively low-damage class to stay balanced.

Add grandmaster traits that overpower an attunment, but shut down 1-2?

That would make ppl that use all four over powered.
All I need is the old condition removal cool down traits to fight off Perplexity condition spikes in wvw. Any other build that’s not heavy condition spiking via upper tier necro or mesmers with food buffs and so forth. I think the annoyance is due to the fact of DD’s in wvw are facing tough and condition spec spikers.
You can always fire staff 1 2 3 on cool down with timing and 25 stacks of might auto hits for 5700 and each tick of 2 hits for 5700 simultaneously plus burning damage. It’s boring but you can make a permanent fire field.

It would be cool if every other class would be as “hard” to play as ele. This it what makes the game interesting and fun to play, not brainafk classes like stun warriors or spirit rangers.
I think they just need to give us more ways to spend our traits. Basically if you aren’t spending 30 in arcane and 15 in water. You are going to get killed by anything, including most uplevels.
I think all attunements should grant you there 15 trait passive automatically and replace the 15th trait with something more trivial rather than essential.
made a suggestions of how to change the attunement functionality a bit which would make it alot more viable to stay in fewer attunement switches due to the effect of an activatable skills which trickers a global cd on all attunements.
effectively the skill is suppose to bolster up the specific attunement you are in and make it varible to use each attunement to each situation instead of ALL attunement to EVERY situation. thereby bringing in tactic and less spam but more thought to the class.
