I feel you man I played Pvp for the first time and when I realize that every single classe beat me 1v1 I was so depress.
You should know better then to take an elementalist in PvP. That is taking a knife to a gun fight.
For PvP you’d be better with an interrupt replacing the mist as mist would be good to get away from monsters / npcs. Then again ANet wants us to remain weak.
it’s perfectly fine to play elementalist if you’re not into TPvP. personally, i have roughly a kdr of 3 in hot joins, while playing thief and spamming heartseeker only gets me a kdr of ~2. if you’re getting crushed, it’s either you’re playing ele like you would any other class, or you’re using staff.

Staff eles are actually very powerful. Anet is looking into nerfing them (more specifically the heals in water attunement)
And a downed state rework for eles is in the works. Been announced by an anet staff member.

Which sort of worries me, since S/D needs just as much help as D/D – still any buff would be appreciated I suppose.
Replacing the second downed skill with a single target freeze comparable in effect to the Frost Bow (5) skill would be a good start.
I’m not sure what dagger elementalists need. I find pretty much everything about daggers underwhelming.

Yah, the downed state is really just a short, frustrating rest before you die.
I feel that it is just ANet’s way of rubbing it in that I got downed in the first place.
Mist Form might actually be useful if you could not be tracked while in it. As it is, the guys who downed me just follow the smoke trail and kick me in the kittens when I become corporeal.
Other than that I agree with the above posts.
Anyone else noticed that grasping earth also apply bleeding now, one for each pulse?
It actually does quite a bit of damage with a condition build…
(there’s no mention of the bleeding in the tool-tip though, a bug? )

I love Dagger Ele but think the Fire 1 attack should be quicker.

I know its difficult to swallow that when we go down, unless your team can interupt the incoming stomps, we’re finished.
However, if they do. That 3 second immobilize is a very effective way to finish off the kill target and possibly land a counter stomp.

I thought that was where they drew the line, as then their trolling would become too obvious. I should’ve known better.
Back on topic: while we’re at it, I hope they take a look at all weapons, not just D/D.
Though I still wonder why’d they prioritize “balance” over fixing bugs… Kinda pointless to balance if fixing the bugged traits and skills is going to break that balance later.

Our downed state is horrible when it comes to defending ourselves, but it is great for attacking the enemy if someone else keeps them away from you. If you are fighting another downed player you should only ever lose to a warrior self-ressing and stomping you.

We don’t even have an aoe skill, and even a downed state revolving around single-target damage, like the mesmer, in addition to their defensive downed clone, can stack confusion for much higher damage than we can do. This is especially clear at pve, where spammable confusion-stacking from two sources can kill fast.
The downed elementalist is not even offensive. It’s simply nothing. It attempts to be about movement control and terrain position, but it fails in both aspects. It’s an immobilize that most of the times hits a foe nearby you, and it’s an escape button that does nothing but delay the inevitable, as you flee away with your foe right beside you waiting for you to go back to your miserable state. All with a spammable, vulnerability-stacking #1 skill that makes little sense in the context, as it’s not like you’re focusing on dealing any worthwhile spike damage with the other two skills in the first place.

SHHH! Have you learned nothing yet? They’ll correct this accidental feature then put this in the patch notes:
