Elementalist Skill Data
This is pretty great.
I love me some theorycrafting, and I’ve made many tests and spreadsheets back when I played this game a lot (a little too much, even), but this is much more thorough.
You are missing utility skills, however!

Utilities that I commonly use and the remaining are on my to-do list, and I have a few already measured and contained in my spreadsheet. I was kind of set back this week by some technical issues, but I think they are solved now. Any requests?
This thread is an excellent idea!
Many people have their own data, but often it is lost after some time, hard to find, and
sometimes it is not clear how reliable the data is, or there is conflicting information. A thread in this place basically solves the problem.
When writing about the post-patch Flame Axe , I realized again that reliable and complete DPS information can be hard to find. Without accurate cast and after-cast times we cannot do accurate DPS calculations.
A suggestion: I know that some people prefer skill coefficients, but for a quick
check it would be very nice to include the tooltip info like on the Wiki: damage
with 916 power versus 2600 armor. This can be easily and directly checked in
the Mists (without gear or boons). Actual damage is then computed by just
rescaling the power value.
Two comments:
The Flame Axe 1 auto-cast seems to repeat after 1.0s. I measured this in the Mists by
timing 25 hits, but not very accurately. Can someone confirm/improve this?
The Wiki appears to be wrong for the tooltip damage for FA1 and FA2.
Currently it’s 358 and 696, but in the mists I find 260 and 506 (you also have
to correct for the power bonus). Please confirm.
Thanks for keeping the information in this thread up-to-date!
Any requests?
oh. yes
The conjure summons, mostly. How much time am I wasting by switching to a conjure?
Also picking them up for the second use

I didn’t think about that, but yeah, that’s super important. I’ll get to that and Flame Axe probably tomorrow.
I am very late on the updating of this thread, my apologies!

Does anyone have any info on the summoned elementals? I’d love to know what abilities they have.
Not that I know of. The wiki has some information, and my general rule of thumb is:
Fire ele: Best DPS on groups of mobs
Water ele: Oops, didn’t mean to cast that
Air ele: Best DPS for bosses
Earth ele: Best at drawing aggro from the rest of the party/facetanking
(edited by DEKeyzToChaos.7381)
Water ele: Oops, didn’t mean to cast that.
You made my day ^^
But, if we refer to Gw2 Wiki, Water Elemental doesn’t seem to be so useless :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glyph_of_Elementals
21300 hp, Ice field combo, powerful heal … If we were able to use elemental’s spells like ranger’s spirits, perhaps it would become interesting ?
It’s definitely not useless, but it’s inferior to the earth elemental in its ability to hold aggro in PvE and survive the punches that it will take. And an ice field would get in the way of fire/water fields.
Being able to use a particular elemental skill on command (with a CD) like ranger spirits or pets would be pretty awesome. Heals, stuns, and cripples on demand? Yes please!

Gosh that would be amazing, also wish my fire ele had the fire field like the one you get from the consumable.
This thread needs a makeover. We can’t let skill data incomplete. In the coming weeks I will spend some time improving this resource.
Keys, I would like to discuss with you how we could make this the ultimate knowledge base for our beloved class. By working together again we can push this further
Anyone else wishing to contribute is highly welcome!

I am programming a dps calculator for Elementalists right now. So far it can create its own skill rotations, based on the input stats, and tell you all the skills it used in the allotted time period. As well as a total dps readout, this includes condition damage. It works with all weapon sets, and some utilities. The skill rotation is not yet optimal.
The program is written in python, if you would like to try it, email me at evilsnowflake1@yahoo.com.
Hey EvilSnowflake, maybe you can tell us a bit more about your calculator?
I am generally wary of downloading anything that is not from a perfectly trusted source, so I would appreciate a slightly more in-depth preview of what your calculator can do

I understand your concern, sadly I have no way of proving my program is not a virus, though it is only a .py file. I will answer any specific questions you have about how the program calculates dps, how it chooses attunements, and now how it calculates effective health and total effectiveness. The next step will be working on healing.
I have used EvilSnowFlake’s calculator, It is a great way to see how your skills apply damage considering your multipliers, enemy armor, and much more

Updated my spreadsheet to include coefficients and theoretical weapon strength for all conjures. Still missing cast times for Earth Shield, but I would be surprised if anyone actually wants them.

Nice
What weapon strength do you have for conjures?

Some corrections though:
-Flamewall: coeff is 0.1 not 0.3
-Hurl: damage is not fixed anymore

Conjure strengths are added as comments. I did some PvE testing, but I wish we have level 80, 2600 armor dummies somewhere. The Flamewall typo fix didn’t get propagated to that spreadsheet but I will fix it now, and I will check Hurl tonight. Thanks Zel!

Ok I could see them once I downloaded the file. Many thanks Keyz!

This data has been most useful to me as of late. Figured I’d say thanks!
Did you manually time the aftercasts?
Consider updating the lightning whip data. I’d help out but I’m not sure how to go about testing. It feels like the aftercast is very low now, whereas attack speed IIRC is 1 per 0.9 seconds.
Also, gale knockdown is in fact 3 seconds instead of the listed 2.
Hey Gokil, thanks for the kind words. This data is not the result of my doing only: Keyz did the majority of the work. And yes, we did everything manually Since we started consolidating the data my main account has been banned from these forums, therefore I cannot update this thread (nor my old DF thread) anymore.
Keyz maintains the data here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WjYuAahQmaF4YwQuFBBfnqP9RkcmcGvCO0JOlYl-R0o/edit?amp;usp=sharing#gid=1
It is not fully up to date though, so your input is definitely valuable. Hopefully Keyz will read this and act accordingly
