Mesmers…are Mesmers. They can summon a clone that does a lot of damage, and they can replace himself with a downed clone. But you will never know if it is the clone until you finish him and you don’t get any points for it.

What kind of crappy Mesmers do you play against that uses it before you start stomping?
Engineers have a tow line that interrupts the stomp against a single person by pulling them towards the engineer, and a self-explosion that interrupts the stomp by knocking back everyone around the engineer. However the explosion starts on a pretty long CD whenever you go down.
The clone of mesmer always appears first. It’s easy to spot. Also, since I main thief, a mesmer can’t clone themselves if they can’t target you, making an easy stomp.

Yep, Eles have nothing good going for them in the downed state. Their vapor isn’t terrible since it resets your downed health to 3/4 roundabout each time you use it. The problem is Vapor isn’t available for quite awhile once you go down…that’s fine and all, just change the #2 downed state ability to cause an interrupt every time it does damage…then all our problems are solved basically…very simple and effective fix.

I don’t think anyone is arguing that ele’s shouldn’t get a finisher-interrupt. It’s pretty much assumed that whenever they patch in balance changes, one of them will give us an interrupt.
Anet thought that a root was good enough to count as an interrupt, and the game didn’t work out that way. I’m sure they’ll fix it.
It is true that skill 2 is not as useful as other professions’ skill 2, but our skill 3 is one of the best downed skill 3 in the game. Of course it couldn’t hurt to have some chance if your opponent is already stomping you before you even fall down -.-

Every time I try to kill a downed Thief, I get a bad reminder of how much Ele actually sucks.
It’s nigh impossible to kill Thieves in WvW, first they teleport away, then they cloak. It takes ten times longer to finish them, than to get them into downed state. How is this not broken? Did anet seriously not compare the downed states of the classes?

You can tell which mesmer is the real one if you simply look over their head. The one with the red hook-like object above it’s head is the real one. I don’t know if you have it disabled or what, but it always makes stomping mesmers very simple.

also assuming he’s not 80, the mesmer with the upscaled arrow is the real one.
If you’re in a party you can also call a target on him, and the target reticule sticks to him like glue.

I’m hoping they keep the number 2 animation though, I think it’s quite nice. Just make it do a knock down instead of immobilise and then we’re at least in line with warriors, engineers, Necro’s etc.

Thief’s 2 is better. The Mesmer’s teleport can be hard-countered by Stealth.
If ele had a better 2nd down skill, I would play it.
