easy way to post build:p
u can switch to traits gears and utility/skills
also u can switch gamemodes
everyone says full zerker.. but if u rly got issues surviving, get some soldier gears first and slowly switch to zerkers as u get used to it
its important as ele to dodge every strong atk of a mob / boss due to our low healthpool, its actually pretty easy if u got experienced guardian in team who uses aegis to help out at some of the harder hitting atks
anyway, replace some of ur gears with soldiers (dont throw the zerker away yet) and slowly switch to zerker as u get used to the rotations, once u r confident give it a try at full zerker again~
also, it may not be recommended but u could put 4 pts into water and 2 pts into arcana forvigor and on demand instant 2k heals, till u figure out to play without dieing:p
its better to do lower dmg overtime than to die right away on the first atk of boss/mob
the full zerker thingys is mostly for organized grps and speeclears, i would never recommend someone new to go full zerker unless he is war
Wyrden thanks a ton for your input. Imma head to the TP now and get some soldier’s gear and see how that feels.
Here’s what I am gonna do. I am gonna keep zerker’s jewelry and weapons, but I am gonna get all soldiers chect, shoulders, legs, etc. I will replace strength runes with 6 superior scholar runes.
no wait, keep trength runes, dont trash them!
might duration > all , for ele at least
if u mean that u gonna get scholar for ur soldiers instead buying 6 x more strength runes, its fine, but dont trash ur strengthrunes
no no I am not trashing str runes. the str runes are on my zerker gear and I will leave those runes alone and just store it in the bank for now. I am putting scholar runes on the new soldier’s gear.
Wyrden,
I just did a dungeon after heeding your advice. It was much more pleasant. Thank You

Wrong.
What is expensive/time-consuming to change? -> gear
What is cheaper/easier to change? -> traits!
Keep zerker, change your build, until you are comfortable enough.

Well in Wyrden’s defense I did say in the OP that gold wasn’t an issue. Imma give that guide a good read though. Thanks.
Sara, I started Dungeoneering on my Ele not long ago, and full Zerk is definitely not the place to start off if you aren’t flawless (nobody is).
Some specs I use when pugging dungeons (DnT/rT stuff):

D/F 66002 taking 2 out of Earth (Stone Splinters) for Arcana (Renewing Stamina) for more dodges; Fire (Pyromancer’s Alacrity) to Fire (Conjurer) for Lightning Hammer for stacking fights.

Staff 64004 for some fights that are easier to manage at range (Spider Queen), taking Arcana (Blasting Staff) and (Renewing Stamina) to help me with positioning, along with Frost Bow to hold it in place so I can cast in peace.

S/F or S/D with Lightning Hammer is for those really brief fights – Lightning Hammer provides you with your sustained damage should they not be dead yet (Elite Golem stack in CoE p2, 3 before laser death party).
Personally, I prefer the Focus because it has a really nice Invulnerable (Obsidian Flesh; useful for ressing, initial pull, emergency out-of-dodge-bar…) and Condition clear (Magnetic Wave; also a blast finisher) along with a super long-duration Flamewall fire field (Persisting Flames; good with Lightning Hammer). Dagger offhand gives an easy Fire field to blast into but also lacks the defensive capabilities (such as Swirling Winds) in exchange for a brief, impressive Fire Grab number and lackluster, long-casttime Earth Blast Finishers (which can be used out of combat, of course, but the CD is not worth it).
Don’t get too caught up with meta specs, you can change things out if you need to, such as running through TA starting route using Signet of Air and Lightning Flash (Or just bring Dagger/Focus; you don’t need a Guardian if you Whip the flowers), using Water Cantrip Mastery and equipping D/D (don’t forget your cantrips + FGS) with your 66002 spec to run through AC p1 Scepter piece collection.

Basically this, yeah. There’s also other benefits to playing around with the Ele’s playstyles outside of their absolute full DPS specs, as I think it gives you a bigger picture about what the Ele can do outside of just a small section of PvE. But I also feel that for most people, changing traits over time is gonna be easier than changing gear for just one format.
Also, D/F Ele is a still underused spec for whatever reason, even if it’s probably easier in some situations than the more popular Scepter-Hammer and Fire-Staff builds.
Thanks a ton for all this help guys
honestly D/F is the best for solo pve/dungeon content and the damage is only slightly less than a lightinghammer autoattack but you got the utilities to keep you alive for a zerk.
previously rank 2 on old leaderboards

You really went to the extreme if you started with a full zerker Ele. It is the best way to play it, but it’s the hardest too.
Like sorrychief said, D/F is a good weapon set for harder content or if you have difficulty to survive with S/X. Staff is between both in term of difficulty. For S/X you are usually in melee range, D/F and Staff you can a least stay in a 300 range, leaving you a bit more room. But Staff don’t have as much defensive skills as D/F.
You can also switch. Some Elementalist use D/F in high level Fractal, but play S/X in dungeon that they are used to play.

not that i’m an expert or anything, but i’ve played zerker ele in lower level dungeons and went through the “oh snap i’m dead!” phase, i found that if you leave it afew seconds for less squishy members to draw aggro it helps a ton!
Ele is my main and i have around 1700 hours on her. I totally depend on 4 water in my traits ever since the start and i’m full ascended zerk. Now i can’t play without it. It heals me a little every time i switch on water and cure one condition on me (same to my party). This si super usefull in dungeons saved me tons of times. Try it.
Not only you went for the squishiest class, but for the squishiest weapon set ( S/D). That’s brave, but it’s really harder to play than x/ focus. I wouldn’t advice going soldiers ( I know too late). Just play 6/6/0/0/2 for a good vigor uptime, so you have more screws up allowed. Don’t hesitate taking something like arcane shield at first. Getting in groups with a competent guardian helps as well.
I use D/F with the grandmaster trait fresh air most of the time for the content you specify, and started using it the same time I got a zerker set. The nice thing about this build is that you can swap out offensive traits and utility skills for defensive ones to learn the flow of the build, as long as you keep the fresh air grandmaster trait. This way you learn to rely on the usually active defenses ele’s defensive traits provide along with those in your weaponset, instead of higher passive defenses coming from armor stats. As you get better you can retrait more offensively.
Also, try to learn to provide yourself stacks of might with this build during combat through combos, it will increase your damage dramatically. This is key to dealing with strong or multiple mobs in open PvE while solo, and allows you to kill them without constantly putting defensive skills on cooldown. The strength runes on your zerker gear will be of great benefit to you for this.
I love DF with Lightning rod, so many interrupts
the only mob that rekts me is the living story part 2 (bloody veteran mordremoth wolf) as a zerker staff ele
tip : take blasting staff
place lava font at edge of mob so that it ticks twice minimum
run to mob as it chases u, once in ur lava font, burning retreat while they take more ticks of ur font
Get dependable teammates. You arent going to survive anything with crap teammates. (unless perfected solo)

watch that and realise 90% of pugs dont do 1/4 of that stuff. Find the 1/4 that do and make friends. life will be easier.
also start soloing things.
