Maximum PVE DPS: Lightning Hammer Build
Well fun fact, I’ve learned that if my crit chance could be a bit more stable (and if i had remebered to eat curry for crit chance and damage) that I could sustain 12k dps.
Here i hit for a 9.6 followed by a 17k… so that happened lol…
Hey Swiftwynd, I really like your build! I’m leveling my Elementalist in solo play (lvl65 at the moment), and have been running a D/D signet aura build. I’m considering mixing it up a bit to better synergize with your Water-heavy Hammer setup, while maintaining a similar level of self-buffs (as I do not have any other players to supply conditions/boons).
Here’s the rough build at lvl65:

The idea behind this build is to provide myself with Burning and Vulnerability, in order to trigger some of the damage stacking, while still gaining much of the signet/aura benefits I was using before (on-demand Swiftness and Fury, and later Protection).
Casting Signet of Fire provides the following for me:
Swiftness
Fury
Fire Shield
Burning
Vulnerability
+20% damage (Piercing Shards)
+5% damage (Ember’s Might)My question to you is: do you think this set-up is more efficient for solo-leveling via questing than going with a ‘lite’ version of your max-dps build?
I love the signet-aura builds in PvE (I ran the 20-10-30-0-10, but am considering trying with 30 in water instead of earth).
The problem is that this doesn’t work well in fractals or dungeons, and I’m generally too lazy to switch builds.
I would argue that it does work in dungeons. You may have you change how you play to make it work. If you notice in the video, I rarely dodge. I purposely take hits to trigger might and chill. In certain situations, I even stand in front of other characters to shield them. I also try to save the frost aura for when I know a big hit is coming. I’ve used it against the Risen Abomination while he charged at me. After hitting me twice in a row, I got up with half my health remaining. Granted my armor is exotic PVT but that’s still amazing for an ele. Hell, there are warriors that can’t even take one hit.

I will have to try that, then. Do you mind posting the build?
This build is fantastic and I love the potential, only negative criticism I can come up with is that its too “fragile” and needs the perfect conditions to out dps the meta warriors. Ran a PuG CoF1 speed farm with all the elitist warriors and unfortunetly could only get a max 8k 3rd swing there was only fury and might applied also no burning so my ascended amulet is a wasted infusion slot still great and loads of fun
Myrmidon Elite [ME]
Seraphim Martyrs [BURN] – Maguuma
Gonna have to try this out. Missing a bit zerker gear for maximum potential, but should be able to get a good setup for it.
Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
Finally, an ele build that I’m actually excited to play! reading through the numbers and looking at all the positive feedback, I can’t wait to get started on gearing up to try my hand at this.
Certainly a fine option Zenith! I’m always toying around with that I want that last utility to be. Certainly some good merits to use Glyph of Power or Storms, as well as the Ice Bow being the obvious choice as you’ve stated. I generally start fights with Frozen Ground + Ice Spike then swap into the hammer, but going into ice bow for more chill vuln and the rain of pain before slapping out the hammer might also be a good idea.
Does Frozen Ground + Ice Spike actually work for you as far as applying the Vulnerability to the opponent? For some reason whenever I try that combo and then Conjure a weapon, the Ice Spike doesn’t actually apply vulnerability. At least not if I conjure before the Ice Spike hits. I have to wait until after impact, then conjure.
Finally got around to editing a video of a fight that’s a “decent” display of the damage potential of the build. Although not perfectly optimized with 25 might stacks, 25 vulnerability, and full list of boons, this is quite a good display of an easy boss beat down.
I immediately discounted this as evidence of “super leet Ele deeps” when I saw 2 Warriors, a Guardian, and a Mesmer. Not to mention that boss has nothing for HP to begin with. Multiple Glass GS Warriors with a Time Warp and a Lyssa Mesmer makes anything look good.

Well I don’t think you are supposed to watch the boss health. Instead the damage done. It’s a short video but fights are short with a maximum dps group which this topic is about.
I summed the damage from first cast to last hit. And I got 154693 damage in 18 seconds which gives 8594 +- 478 DPS ~ 8500 +- 500. This is with partly quickness ofc.
I think simple way to give perspective for it is to think 25 stacks of bleeds with maximum possible condition damage (2600 quite exact) is 4313 DPS. Guess that 4300 could be concidered as a bench mark for great dps.
We should perform dps test with 25 stacks of might/vuln and with perma fury for warriors/guardians/mesmers and unbuffed/undebuffed for rest classes. Sounds logical.

This would be an interesting test. I highly encourage people to attempt to make their highest possible damage builds with each profession to see how each can stack up in ideal circumstances
Glad several people seem enthusiastic about the build, anyone else have any feedback regarding it? New patch should actually significantly buff this build with the increased crit chance from Signet of Fire.
I haven’t played in a few weeks, but I’ll likely get back into it soon.
I just found out about this build and watched some videos, damage potential was amazing!
I tried a similar one to this, but i couldn’t get as awesome results :P.
Vital striking and rune of the scholar buffs are very rare conditions to keep in dungeons.
Not to mention how vulnerable you are to attacks, you just take a lot of damage due to light armor.
Maybe it was just a noob of me to not to get the basics of the build :P.
I have yet to find myself a good build to play with zerker gear to have decent damage during CoE or such dungeons on my ele. I guess i have to keep trying.
All the best.
