Post Your Build Thread
I am using builds inspired by the ones Aky uses:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/67305-akys-build-compilation/
All credit goes to him. Mainly his S/D aggressive boon ele has my attention atm.
Your link doens work properly Malcastus. I’m quite interested in it.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
This is the build I’ve had most success with in pvp as double-dagger. High HP and lots of condition removal against condi builds, high toughness and 3 stun breakers against bursters, and okay-ish damage through high fury uptime and 2% damage per boon on you, plus evasive arcane <3
Probably not the most imaginative build. I mostly PvE and I’ve found this to be a great support/survivability build for dungeons and soloing group events.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQFAWhMmKbwx5gjDAkHnYCLhCEUeMzO2A
The ability to self-combo ( a lot ) along with the healing/condition removal it provides makes for great survivability. Damage is mediocre with very little burst but this is a build aimed at outlasting enemies rather than nuking them (though it’s quite possible to get over 15 stacks of might solo with this setup, which helps quite a bit with the damage output).

Yeah, the links to that site via this forum seems a bit buggy. If you copy and paste the link in the browser, you will get there though.

The idea of this build is not to get hit. If you do, you lay down a lava font before you are downed and another will be placed from the trait. The arcane shield trait protects you. You’ll mostly stay in fire but you won’t suffer any damage loss, in fact, you’ll lose it if you switch. The Signet of Earth stop people from moving so you can use skill 5 on Frost bow. Use Ice storm once they are frozen and then go back to Fire Staff skills and finish off anyone who tries to come near you. By the time someone hits you, you should have most people down by half health. It’s kind of a suicide build but you are probably going to survive due to the immense amount of damage you’ll do to people in downed state.
Ice storm will hit about 1.8k crits, Meteor Storm will hit about 2.5k crits, Fireball will hit around 2k crits, and lava font should be about 1.8k crits. The sigil should add in alot of extra dps when you crit and also works when you are down. It’s about as much damage as you can get. The damage will increase greatly once they are past the 25% mark. Just don’t get caught :P
Hey, want to chare my build whit you all. I use this both in PVE and sPVP. I think it works quite well. Itsn not full glass canon but I havent stacked much survival in it.

Heya , i didnt want to start another topic because i thought its a bit too much for what i want so i decided to write in this topic.
Can anyone post a recent staff support build for spvp or wvw ? Or any staff build but not one based on high dmg , i would like one based on condition damage. Ty

There are a number of staff support builds in this thread already you can take a look at. Nothing major has changed about staff Ele’s so they’re not outdated or anything.
Traits: 0/20/30/10/10
Air: III/VIII
Earth: III/V/X
Water: I
Arcane: V
Equipment: Knight’s Armor, Vaklyrie Jewelery. Knight’s Scepter and Dagger. (these will all eventually be exotic)
Runes: None yet
Utilities: Glyph of Elemental Harmony, Arcane Shield, Glyph of Storms, and Glyph of Elementals or my Asura Defensive Golem
Interesting Stuff,
I recently started using a crit % build.
20 into fire, 15 into air, 25 into water and 10 into arcane.
I am mainly building for aura to give me swiftness and fury with water 25 boons give 2% damage. This combined with changing element gives me a boon ca trips give me vigor and regen i can have 10% damage increase at almost all time.
I also focus on prec, power and toughness with some vitalility and crit % and power items.
This gives me around 15k hp , almost 3k power and 35 % crit which is almost always around 55% , switching element 2 secs on fury and aura.
I also have 3 might for switching element , 5% damage and 7 power for each kill .
Allowing me to stack a lot i can also choose in fire that cantrips give me 3 might…
My on demand damage boost is pretty good i think with magnatic aura at 20% hp and enough heals to get back up fast enough.
10% damage in fire and switching from fire or air gives a lightning strike or fire blast Heal aoe quite a bit and also remove conditions.
D/D very decent for solo and a valuable group build i hope
:D tell me how you think this may work
These are the builds I currently favor in sPvp. I’ve never played tPvp, so my builds don’t reflect any experience from there.
Dagger/Dagger Build – balanced offensive/defensive/support build
- This build generally gets me the most wins in sPvp given the ones I’ve tried.
- A common combo is Updraft—>Buring Speed—>Arcane Wave—>Fire Grab—>Ring of Fire—>Earthquake—>Ring of Earth.
- This build also provides a lot of support to teammates when I’m within 300-400 range from them.
Scepter/Dagger Build – signet + aura build
- Does decent damage from range
- Given sPvP map design (and goal of taking control points), it can be frustrating fighting builds which can use melee attacks (since melee attacks deal a lot more damage)

Enjoy. you are as tough as the old arcane build. you eat DD elementalists pretty easy. Only class that can hurt you is a well played Mesmer.
I didn’t want to share this cause I don’t want it nerfed but now I don’t care.
2 Builds I like to use in dungeons, both DPS. One is power/precision/crit damage and the other is condition damage.
Hang out in fire, throw fireballs and drop lava fonts, hit 3 if burning isn’t up. High AOE damage (Big crits especially with Fiery Greatsword), high endurance, low vit/toughness but dungeons are more about proper skill choice and high endurance then stacking a lot of vit/tough (at least if you are a glass cannon).
High hp, big bleed stacks and 100% uptime on burning, blast finisher every 5 seconds and weakness with auto attack. Low crit and low power but the build is about condition damage.
Hi all!
I’ve been working on the build I want to use, but before I get the Exotics I would like some feedback on my build. I have the most doubts about my stats.
EDIT: I now have two builds, one is the original which uses Signets for Auras, the other is without Signets but this one really depends on the Ring of Fire→Magnetic Grasp combo Aura to be fixed.
Here are some links (because some sites aren’t always up).

If possible I’ve added a PvP Amulet+Jewel on the page aswell for the calculator, although I’m going with the gear mentioned in the description.

Siege WvW/General PvE/Dungeons – Extremely high AoE DPS
EQ
Staff:
Power/Precision/Critical Strike +5% DMG (Sigil of Force)
Armor:
Full Berserker – Power/Precision/Critical Strike + 6x Superior Rune of the Eagle
Trinkets:
Full Berserker set
With this build you’ll kill mobs in the blink of an eye.
Why it’s worth using?
20% faster Glyph recharge gives you an opportunity to use Glyph of Storms (Firestorm or Sandstorm AND Glyph of Elemental Harmony AND Glyph of Elementals) more often. As you probably know – Firestorm = win.
20% more dmg to foes with less than 25% health & 5% more dmg vs. targets with less than 50% health – you become even more dangerous over time.
Area attacks with staff are larger – wreak havoc in a wider area.
51% Critical Chance gives you almost perma Vigor (Renewing Stamina) and almost perma Vulnerability at your target (Weak Spot).
Survivability? Soothing Disruption + passive Healing Ripple and Soothing Mist + perma Vigor. It’s all about kiting and staying behind and it’s not hard with 900-1200 range. I always do the same thing – Fire Attunement + Lava Font + Glyph of Storms + Conjure Frost Bow + Ice Storm (Ice Bow) + Meteor Shower + Watter Attunement + Ice Spike + Earth Attunement + Eruption…
This is my Dungeon/WvW spec, mainly boon stacking and support, as for Cleansing Fire, I like it in dungeons, but probably swap it out for Lightning Flash in WvW, anyways.
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fEQQJAoYhMmObwx4gjEAkHnYSJjCiIK8QRROzA
Gear: Knight’s Armor w/ Superior Runes of the Earth, Beryl Accessories, and Rampager daggers w/ Superior Sigil of Bloodlust and haven’t figured out what I’m gonna do for the 2nd sigil yet lol
So, thoughts? Good? Bad?
Made some changes to my build, based on feedback I received on guildwars2guru.com, I’ve edited the links in my original post.

If you go for the other GM water trait you can drop cleansing fire for or the teleport cantrip or another signet, but that’s only when you’re not in a group of course.
I guess it depends on how valuable you see sharing auras & how often you’re grouped.

Well I’ve found that in the end most of the stuff you do is in groups, so I usually don’t take the time to adjust my build to solo play whenever I do something on my own. Not just because it takes some time, but also because the boons are shared with allies you find along the way. But it all depends on your playstyle and where you spend most of your time ingame.
Enduring Support/Combat Healer
All Cleric armor each with a Superior Rune of Dwayna
All Saphire Jewelry
Cleric Staff with Superior Sigil of Water
Point is to not die… Heal yourself, heal others, heal often and support the team as much as possible.
Very easy to solo PvE. I don’t PvP or WvW enough to give an extensive information on either.
Miind’s Staff Elementalist Farming Build:
The focus of this build is to provide maximum sustained damage, while still maintaining survivability, to provide fast and effective AOE farming. This is done by providing stats for high damage while focusing runes and sigils towards chill effects, keeping the enemy constantly at a distance. Though not too fancy i have found this build effective. All gear needed will run around 3g (based on current Black Lion costs.) If you have any spare gold the WvWvW Assassin backpack can be purchased to total in at 8g though it is by no means necessary.
Gearing
Basics:
All Equipment should have the Berserker preface as you are going for high damage at all times, grab what you can afford, this is a farming build so it is assumed that you will be making more money down the road.
Runes:
Superior Rune of the Ice (6/6). This will supply the survivability, the stacking of vitality and the bonuses to chilled/frozen effects provide effective kiting while also forcing the enemy to stay in your fields longer increasing damage output. The cherry on top is the 5% more damage while chilled/frozen.
Sigil:
To compliment the Rune it only seems natural to place a Superior Sigil of Ice in your chosen staff, providing an on crit chill affect, and you will be criting often(thank you berserkers). Remember that Chill stacks in duration, which is already being improved by you rune.
Gems:
A Ruby Orb in each Trinket slot. To provide even further damage.
Healing and Utility Skills:
Healing:
- Glyph of Elemental Harmony.
Utility:
- Glyph of Storms.
- Mist Form.
- Glyph of Lesser Elementals.
Elite:
- Glyph of Elementals.
Traits:
30 into Fire – Internal Fire, Pyromancer’s Alacrity, Pyromancer’s Puissance.
20 into Air – Quick Glyphs, Bolt to the Heart.
20 into Arcane – Elemental Attumenent, Blasting Staff.
Guide:
Now the build itself is rather squishy in general, you are in berserker gear after all. Use every field to your advantage, remember while frozen they are forced into your fields for a longer amount of time, they will take more damage 5%, and they have longer ability cooldowns. To line up mass kill’s, lay down Eruption, followed by your now improved Frozen Ground, then follow up with a Lava font, Flame burst, Glyph of Storms, and go to town with 1-2k Fireball’s. Loot. Rinse. Repeat. On larger event based units you can solo the enemy by swapping to Earth Using Glyph of Elementals to summon your pocket tank. Swap water to use Glyph of Lesser Elementals, to summon additional damage, a freezing field (again 5% more damage for you), and healing for you and your Rock tank. Then follow with any combination of damage you feel is suitable.
I Hope this helps with speed and efficiency, Good luck, and enjoy those high crits. If you have any improvements to this build please let me know.

Hello, I really enjoy being able to survive rather than being a glass cannon, and I have always been pretty fond of putting out some kind of group support. I had developed a pretty good staff bunker build that I was having fun with up until they nerfed EA again. Since than I have turned to Scepter dagger (as I really enjoy the three heal combo when i switch too water with the double cleansing wave) and have been doing alright, but I still feel like it could be more efficient. Could anyone suggest or point me towards a scepter dagger bunker build? Killing fast is not a priority, only surviving.
Much Appreciated

Staff build:
30/0/10/10/20
(The points put into Water and Earth is just to make sure i don’t die within the first couple of attacks hauled against me.)
Burning Precision, Internal Fire and Pyromancer’s Puissance in Fire
Earth’s Embrace in Earth
Cleasing Wave in Water
Elemental Attunement and Blasting Staff in Arcana
Arcane Blast, Mist Form and Signet Of Fire as my utilities (I’m a charr, so I swap the signet out for Battle Roar during WvW/PvE)
This build hits like a fully loaded bus. The combination of a buffed Meteor Storm and Lava Font crits for 3.4k and 2.2k respectively. Consider the fact that Lava Font ticks and Meteor Storm randomly hits at any moment, I do alot of damage very quickly. If the enemy decides he wants to get up close, switch attunes for the huge variety of boosted AoE CC that the staff has. If the enemy tries to range me, switch over to earth attune and put on Magnetic Aura. Put a few stacks of weakness on him, then switch back to fire to deal out the hurting. Air to stop a foe from escaping, Water to heal allies and myself when I feel like it. Combine all of this with precise dodging and you have build that is very hard to hit and deal out stupid amounts of damage.
Alatum Interitum
80 ele build i use for dungeons and fractals
Full set of Power/Toughness/Vitality set from AC and Karma armor
5 Soldier Runes and 1 with +25 power
Full set of Beryl Ori. Jewelry ( havent found a set for power/toughness/vitality yet) not counting fractal eq .. Which I am working on.
I have 30 in fire, 25 in earth and 15 in water.. I swap around which selections I use with these attunements… in water i like the one that removes conditions, for fire I primarily use the +5% dmg while burning and +10% dmg and Pyromancer’s Puissance, earth I use ones that do more dmg while bleeding..
If I am running staff I will use my mystic staff and drop lava font, meteor storm, fire 3, swap to earth earth 5 earth 2, when i swap to water I use water 2 and the 2 heals as needed..
for my other skills I use the elemental elite, for the other 3 I swap between frost bow, arcane shield, mist form, glyph of storms, and stoneskin..
for fights with large groups of mobs.. I like staying with the bow, glyph of storms and arcane shield.. dropping glyph, bow and meteor storm in succession is nice dmg.
My end stats run between 19500-22000 hps, attack 3200-3400, armor 2400-2500..
Its has a very small crit chance. which im fine with.
I also like the scepter/dagger or scepter/focus..I feel weapons are more fight specific smaller fights I like the scepter/ any combo,
Something I am going to start experimenting with in spvp.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQJAoYhEmkbwxygjDAkHm4CLCFPYRRBOzA;ToAg0Cnoey8k4J7TunkPNGZ+B
This build utilizes having crit and crit damage on top of a decent amount of vit and condition removal.
Mist form and Armor of Earth grant a little bit of Def.
And the heal acts as both a heal and a condition nuetralizer, The idea is to use this heal on the run while you have swiftness and have distance, or while in mist form so you cant be interrupted and you heal.
Again this is something that I will be trying, but changes to it are welcome.
Edit: Also
Quickness procs are awesome :P
I’ve been successfully with this build in free tourneys.
Diogo’s Burst/ Dodging Roamer

Basically, with Berserker amulet, 20 in air, signet of earth and sigil of air, you’re very efficient at killing. Your fire scepter’s skills will hit hard, and a combo like Updraft – Dragon Tooth – Signet’s Immobilize – Ring – Well-targeted Phoenix – Fire Grab will destroy almost anything, and you still have the earth blast finishers to rely on (with Lightning Flash to make sure Churning Earth hits) and a last attunement change back to air for 2 + 3 again. Might-stacking and the possibility of 30s fury only make following bursts stronger once the cooldowns get off.
The vigor you get from criticals and the cantrips, the endurance received from weapon swap, the two cantrips themselves and the regeneration they give, and finally the many healing skills you have (water trident, cleansing wave from skills and from water dodge, water attunment) will give you good chances to survive while taking down your opponent or running away.
Nice thread. I went through every build and didn’t see any like this…probably a really good reason that I’m not considering of course.
I’ll probably go into more detail about the specifics but for right now I’m still looking the build over before I finalize it and start playing with it ingame. I used a similar setup while leveling but having used this specific build as of yet.
Comments?
EDIT: If the build doesn’t totally suck…what would you call this sort of LE?
(edited by BioFringe.7945)
Hey Guys,
I’ve been working on a build that I’d like you to take a look at and critique. Its working fairly well for me since people don’t seem to be used to an Ele build like it. Its based off of the insta cast skills in the Scepter air tree and stacking signets, which I like since they don’t interrupt skills your already casting since they have no cast time. Mainly Im just wondering what your general impression of how it works is like and if you think it has to much crit with the addition of fury.
There’s details explaining how it works at the link:
http://www.gw2build.com/builds/devonas-trinity-burst-dps-multi-build-elementalist-focus-scepter-burst-dps-9468.html
Thx.

Mine is very similar to this. You can hit 3.5k+ FB crits when Bolt to the Heart is up. I use Vital Striking from Water 10 though, and completely abandoned Arcane
GS hits are insane too. Broke 10k on the last chain hit on an Ice Ellie in fractals other day. Final boss on dredge is 75k+ lol.
I went with Zepher and Tempest defense though in Air. Most of the traits as fire are very underwhelming. Arc Shield has too high a CD, maybe your crit damage trait would be better for me if I slotted a 2nd Arcane skill (notice you have lower arc CD too)
I slot utility to balance out my glass gear though … dead dps = zero dps.
Mist Form (can ether renewal while invulnerable)
Arcane Shield (blocks 3 attacks, really awesome for bosses that hit slow but VERY hard on cloth)
Signet of Air for mobility, or Elemental Storm for pretty sweet AoE blind/tick
(maybe I should have a blast finisher here though, really miss having one)
This build benefits from starting out of Fire attunement, then jumping to it once starting your dps/might stacking
(edited by Hypno.2649)
The idea was to make a build that is up to par with other classes damage and survivability wise. (obviously i failed)
Focusing on criticial hits for damage and using the Knight’s Amulet and Earth magic for survivability.
Fast casting and attunement switching is required for maximum critical hit chance. Use Air attunement for good damage (2nd skill).
a build with which i can actually outlast Guardians which i find pretty amazing because i’m used to the fact that elementalists suck.
Focus is on condition damage dealt by earth attunement (auto-attack + dodge) and healing from Water attunement (healing skills + dodges). (Also the passive signet healing). Since health is really low (12k) i have multiple condition removals to counter this build’s weakness.
Unless you’re getting focused and/or not paying attention it’s rather hard to die.
I used the second build after having touble with D/D set up. Love it so much, often times I only die once or twice per match. Most survivable build I have ever used of all non-heavy armor classes.
Opinion on this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJArYhImkbxR4QlEAkHn4CLhCKIK8QRxM6A;ToAA1Cno6y4lwLbOuuk5MEZCB
?
Loads of boon durations but dunno how the damage will go on WvW and PVE. Ill try it tomorrow on spvp btw
Strong offensive, with good survival (Usable anywhere, primarily S/TPvP)
The build is the only D/D build I have really enjoyed so far. Good burst (for an ele) with the defensive utilities of cantrips, etc. Works like a charm for me, and been playing for quite a few months now. Give it a try!

So here is my build, you use full zerk gear and put power/vit/tough on the amulets and such
I have found this build to be rlly high damage but it’s all about constant movement, you stop for a few seconds and u die.
I usually start in air, use 4 then 5, switch to fire use 3 then 4 then 2 then 5.
by that time i need healing so i switch to ice and that gives me regen, then moving to earth, if i still need more heal i can pop mist and heal so i can’t be hit.
anyways let me know if u have any advice
Hi all elem players sorry for my english.
I’d like know opinions on my build, it’s old school fire attument damage and burning condition both are supported stacks of might boon
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcsc9cz0MxMamMxMamx9MaxcobocVR8kiO7070M7khA707kGo70V7owZ70m8ofZ
It’s primary used for fractals and Dungeons.
hey this is my build been using it for a while
all around its pretty good its made for hill control
not for fighting cause then it will never end cause you know ppl tend to run away then come back but yeah hope you guyd like it
Mostly play at cursed shore or dungeons, the build works whether you’re using a staff or a d/d, I’m not really focused on one thing, like to play as a hybrid
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQBYAgo4ETEKewiyjZyxGA
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over
0/10/10/30/20 running D/D & Staff(Switching to staff for larger zergs/keeps in wvw)
Air:
Zephyr’s boon- for the constant fury and swiftness of course
Earth:
Elemental Shielding-essentially gaining 5s of protection when you proc Zephyr’s. Also works with magnetic aura on staff.
Water:
Soothing Disruption-Regen and Vigor on cantrip use, of which I always carry 2-3
Arcane Abatement-Reduces fall damage(great for WvW btw), also gives you the option of jumping off the wall and CCing the enemy zerg with either static field or earthquake, depending on attunement.
Cleansing Waters-Gaining Regen cures a condition, condi-remover build is a must in WvW imo.
Arcana:
Elemental Attunement-grants a boon associated with your attunement, not bad.
Blasting Staff-Bigger AOEs…..can’t go wrong with that
I’m usually just lazy and never switch out Blasting staff, even when I’m rolling D/D just because I switch between the two so often that I don’t feel like I’m losing anything. The only other traits I consider using in Arcana are Final Shielding or Renewing stamina, but I don’t crit enough to warrant changing to Renewing so I usually just leave it so i’m not constantly changing out my traits.
I exclusively WvW as I don’t like PvE/sPvP so I just run around as a tanky support specialist. I’ve always considered a staff ele to be a combo field generator, and being able to be the farthest person into the enemy group and dropping Combo fields over the entire group as well as dropping plenty of CC is a lot fun for me, but then I’m a fan of jumping into the middle of a zerg all alone just so i can pop tornado and spread them out. “When in doubt, Spread them out.”Spreading out a zerg is the easiest way to wipe them, as most of them are not being hit by aoes due to the cap limit. Tornado only sucks when you don’t know “where” to use it

My ele is running PvE & WvW with this build. I like this because this does not limit you to one attunement like fire trail line does.
Damage:
- Critical hits cause vulnerability (60% change)
- More damage (2%) per each boon on you
- 20% more damage to foes with less than 33% health (all attunements)
- Extra 10% damage when health is above 90% (all attunements)
- Fury + attunement bonus boon from attunement swaps (boons = more damage)
- Glyphs recharge 20% faster (heal, elite & utility are glyphs)
Support:
- Remove a condition from you and your allies when attuning to water
- Heal nearby allies when attuning to water
My gear is PVT with 50% boon duration runes (2x monk, 2x water). Trinkets are Berserker. Staff is either Berserker or PVT (depends how group is doing, if things are hard I swap to PVT staff). See Buildcraft link for more detailed armor.

Elemental Forgemaster: The Maximum Potential Sustained DPS for Elementalist
TL:DR – highest possible damage you will see in game, in ideal conditions, of any profession Damage Amplification stacking, with the best or near best melee weapon in the game (conjure lightning) resulting in the highest damage if certain conditions can be met with your group composition.
WvW “Zerg Swarm” glass cannon build.
Weak 1v1 build, but able to nuke most things down really fast.
D/D or S in wvw 20/10/10/10/20
I use this build for everything, even sPvP,
I like everything so far, I’m like a hybrid, I also use superior rune of the doylak and P/T/V rings, accesories, back, for amulet, it’s P/T/V for fractals, or syzgy with 20% gilded infusion.
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over
WvsW build
I wanna make a small changes but short of gold atm.
and yes i used Scepter/dagger :P
PRX – MoAR – PEW
this is my favorite pve build, using all weapon sets, swapping utilities in dungeons a lot, traits if i really need to but mostly to lazy if it is just for 1 encounter.
if someone posted it already, sorry for double posting.
