Hi guys

I’ve been thinking about something. I have about 3 pieces of ascended armor, all of which are berserks, Zojjas. I even have the funds to complete the set but I’m not sure if I should.

In Dry top and the Silverwastes I can die really easily, some of the monsters can get me with 2-3 hits. While in the rest of the game I dont really have any issues as long as I dodge properly. So I’ve started to think if this is a new thing ANet is changing in HoT. In an attempt to diversify players and make sure everyone dont jsut run with the “zerk meta” and make all of us put on other sets with toughness or vitality as well.

Do you guys think so? Should I get rest of my armor now, or wait untill HoT arrives and see if I would have to change into something else instead of Zerk. Perhaps the new armor will be cooler also? (probably will be cooler)

nope I wouldn’t. what I would do is get the base materials and make the damask coat lining and the like. collect all the materials for the insignia, barring tier 6 materials, and wait.

The reasoning is two fold. First off armor stats are changing, alongside with how character stats are arranged. See they are removing stat bonuses from traitlines so you wont get a inherent stat boost to something like toughness anymore. The second being as said above gear is getting the remaining stats so it will affect how your gear to stat relationship will work.

Just craft the armor. Even if you feel like you need more hp or armor at some point, you can just get a soldier ring or something. There is almost no chance that will pve change to the point that changing 2 or 3 accessories won’t fix your build.

uhh this is ascended armor you know, its not exotic that costs like 75% less. Silk and blood alone cost a good chunk of change

The cost only matters if zerker stops being the pve meta, and there is no reason to think you’ll want to change out every piece of gear for the expansion. Like I said, ascended rings are essentially free and can be used for added defense without worrying about crafting new armor.

Taking the “rather safe than sorry” approach is fine, but the chances of being sorry are so small you might as well go for it.

no free vitality boost and no free toughness WILL probably change the meta you know. If im spending the equivalent of 25 gold per armor bit id rather NOT change it after since you have no way of knowing what the meta will turn out. We may get away from a zerk meta now since you cant just add to you stats thru traiting. Or the meta may shift to something that isn’t as glass cannon.

I would wait. Trait changes will affect your stats on armour.

Gandara – Vabbi – Ring of Fire – Fissure of Woe – Vabbi
SPvP as Standalone All is Vain

Right guys? Its not just me thinking I should wait a bit. Stats and boons will be changing and 3 pieces is about 250 gold. As it’s light armor it wont be a huge difference sitting with exotic pieces for a few more months.

You aren’t getting it. You are not risking changing your armor because other much cheaper pieces of gear give stats too. If you are 100% zerker right now, you can use a soldier ring and backpiece once the changes hit to get the hp and armor you’re missing from earth and water traits.

You would obviously change the cheapest pieces of gear first in response to any meta changes. This means accessories get swapped then weapons. Any meta shift would have to require you to change over half your equipment to start affecting your armor choice. If you’re going to use the same gear for wvw, you should definitely hold off. However, you are 99% safe for just pve.
