So what about mesmers and engineers?
Well for one, don’t expect major changes until after the PAX tourney is over. Anet said they aren’t releasing major ones since people in that tournament won’t have time to adjust strategies.
They have said that major trait changes are coming after that for some classes. The latest major change patches haven’t revamped Ele yet, but we’ll probably have our turn either in August or September.
What really confuses me is that when talking about PvP most people seem to talk about players just killing others without any or with very little regard to the objectives. If a certain player is consistently locking down a team, then the whole team should focus on that player.
But, if you’re talking about where players are killing each other and ignoring objectives, then that’s never going to be fixed…because it doesn’t matter. sPvP is objective based, not kill based. Sure…there are matches where one team has all the kills…but loses because the other team was doing better at objectives.

. If a certain player is consistently locking down a team, then the whole team should focus on that player.
The logic of, “Hey if one player is taking out your entire team, you can just 5v1 him!” is kinda…lacking.
Locking down != taking out.
A team != entire team.
The point I was making is referring to another thread made in this forum about a strong staff build. Yes, a player can lock down a team by only keeping a few members chasing them. (Again, play the objective not the kill counter…but that’s obvious…so I’ll hope people get that.)
If one person is causing trouble for a team, then change your strategy to either exploit the fact that one person on the opposing team is more focused on kills than objectives. Or, play to that person’s weaknesses. EVERY build has a weakness. And every class has tools to take advantage of that. Some have more tools than others…but if recent patches have anything to say is that Anet realizes this and is starting to spread those tools out more. (More forms of stability for Necromancer, as an example).

I feel your pain bro
HUGE exaggeration on some of the Mesmer stuff – at Most Mesmer have Torch, Decoy, Veil and Mass Invis for stealth and guess what- taking them makes them WEAKER in other aspects. Even if timed exactly right (they dont stack iirc) they get like 10seconds give or take of stealth and then what? Nothing.
Also Clones DONT do 3k damage, you are thinking of Phantoms (the purple ones) and ALL Phantoms and Clones pretty much die the moment you throw a little bit of AoE about.
As stated they can NOT spam Invis. with the fact the shortest cool down is like 30seconds so even if they burst all the stealth they have they will be out of it for atleast 20seconds before the shortest cool down one is up.
It is also VERY easy to chase down a Mesmer, they have VERY little/ no access to Swiftness if they take staff its easy to figure out the real one based on the position they were facing – if they were facing you it will be the one behind. They have Blink but that means less stealth and 900range is meh. Pretty much every class has the ability to chase down a Mesmer if the Mesmer skills are on cool down.
I would say its L2P issue myself. Thought about playing the class a bit? Try out the skills and fine tune your understanding of the mechanics of the class you will soon find it quite easy to fight them.
As for the “Nerf Them” comment, the recent update was the FIRST update they have had in which they didnt get something nerfed. Not blame the players that play one of the very few viable builds, blame Anet for nerfing everything else so that they have no choice.
What sort of build you running? I have no issues against Mesmers in Staff, of course that gets a little more tricky in Melee weapons but you are not forced to fight them, Plenty of skills to escape if you run they have VERY little they can do to chase you down unless they run with Focus (ONLY way to get Swiftness without RNG)
5 VS 1? Link build plz!
5 vs 1 easy (and more sometimes and not only this mesmer, all mesmer of my guild can take 5 vs 1)
5 vs 1 easy (and more sometimes and not only this mesmer, all mesmer of my guild can take 5 vs 1)
you cant really compare that for WvW to many variables
- Other people Level
- Other People Skill Level
- Other Peoples Build (Most run glass cannon in WvW)
- Other People Gear (not as important but Ascended Vs blues…who would win?)
- Food and other buffs
As shown in the video killing that group who were ALL up leveled ANY class can beat a group of up leveled people so that really doesnt show how powerful or over powered the Mesmer is, for all you know they could be really low levels >20.
They were pretty awful as well, constantly attacking your clones and would have killed him if they were that little bit better several times down to under 2k health
Next fight and oh shock more upleveled people. He is also running what is pretty much our ONLY viable build and in S/TPvP its not even Viable. He is also Rank 118, so he knows his class and he knows it very well i see no problem in that.
The Fight around 5-6mins when hes against some class and a Mesmer he goes for the Mesmer for obvious reasons, again this is down to experience. The next fight despite all the numbers – they ALL stack which is a VERY stupid thing to do, so yeah that is down to skill and experience on his part again to take advantage of silly decisions by the other people.
In TPvP he wouldnt likely do very well because we are AWFUL thanks to the condition heavy Meta. WvW is ALOT different and thus you cant say that a class needs to be nerfed due to the above reasons.
