Fire 5 has its cooldown decreased by 2 seconds.
The rest of the skills’ cooldowns are tripled to compensate.

yay, staff gets healing buff. I am so excited about that. And I guess earth 4 gets a boost as well.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Until then I’m expecting:
Water Blast: Damage coefficent changed from 0.3 to 0.4

I honestly hope they don’t buff the staff.. We all know how it will end.. They will “bugfix” it after a couple of weeks leaving staff in a horrible state.
Staff is currently a valid option in PvE, Dungeons & WvW. Any buff they might add will make it way to powerful in the WvW department and causing it to get nerfed, I mean bugfixed, after a couple of weeks.
After that we are stuck with S/D.
Not sure where people are getting the information about specific buffs.. I think the staff has enough utility, it needs more damage. Or at least fix casting times/delays. It’s such a slow weapon.

Seriously? The staff doesn’t need to be buffed… I already do a ton of damage with it on my Elementalist. The only thing that could be done to it is to decrease some of the cooldowns, which are already fine.
Cooldowns and delays could do with being shortened. I’m still hoping they give Elementalists and Engineers the ability to swap weapons like everyone else, since our most adaptable skill set by attunement is the trident.
Off the top, gust has too long of a cooldown and unsteady ground is unnecessary since there is already access to immobilize. It would be better if it applied small amounts of torment since it scales w/ the stats from earth tree and combos w/ the other abilities better.
and maybe make water blast ground targeted so you can actually take advantage of the healing.
The damage is fine; it needs QoL adjustments such as animation time and a few functions reworked.
It’s nice that staff is getting some buffs, but I’m annoyed that they are limiting ele improvements to just the one weaponset. I don’t want to see the devs calling all elementalists perfectly fine just because they threw a bone to staff.

Agreed; there’s still a LOT that needs work.
soon, and since elem is completely useless in almost all aspects of the game right now.. i can see something like

Meanwhile Ranger Shortbow auto-attack got further increase in speed twice as much as it is now because spamming this skill can never be fast enough since requires so much thought processing, positioning, and strategy the ranger’s pet AI gets all stressed out doing all the work.
On a serious note, most if not all skills of the Staff are fine except for Air 2 and 3 and Earth 5 which need faster casting and animation to be more reliable, Water 3 a bigger radius or longer duration since it’s total garbage without blasting it. And then add some extra umph to Fire 2, Water 2, Air 2, and Earth 2. Wait, did I say most skills are fine already? Sorry, I take that back. Please improve this weapon for eles. But please do this AFTER reworking Fire and Water skills of Focus. Thank you!

I suppose that they eventually change a few things with the lesser used and underwhelming skills of staff (and focus).
A wish of mine is Unsteady Ground (earth 4) changed into a burrowing skill (used as gap creater/retreat, or mole surprise attack), OR a skill that makes you a big, rolling boulder that can crush and knockdown characters in a line.
