What annoys me the most about Ele
http://tinyurl.com/oaxdkgt
^
Exactly. When I play mesmer, engi, guardian and now necro, I casually steam roll 90% of the people I fight. I don’t pay that much attention to what boons and condis are flying around or use my dodges efficiently and I still win with minimal effort. On ele, I have to watch everything that’s going on, never use a key skill while blind/aegis is up, dodge every hard hitting ability and maintain my tiny health pool all while trying to kill my opponent with some of the most difficult skill shots to land in the entire game.
I can achieve the same level of effectiveness on all of the classes, but I barely have to try on the top builds while I have to pretty much go all out on ele to beat good players. If I ever got motivated enough to master those other top builds, I would probably never play ele again.
we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable
but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use.” – ANet
you ‘ought to be kidding me…. Ele’s definitely needed that last nerf. If you cant outrun a ranger, guardian or a ranger. You’re doing it wrong. Ele’s are definitaly not the fastest anymore but it’s not too hard to save Ride the lightning for an escape, swap to fire, burning speed, swap to water and use aura=safe. I’ve outrun zergs of people on my lvl 50 ele :P and if it’s really that big of a deal swap out a utility for something a little more mobile? I really don’t see the need to start a whole thread post about it.

errrr…. you are complaining that ele doesnt have a dumb down 1 vs 1 build and you are forced to bring team support?
Elemental have support, offense, and sustain baked into their weapon sets. To balance such advantage, versatile build comes with a higher skill floor.
Those so called “easy builds” being very little group support. In fact, most of these builds are frown upon on high level tournaments to their inherit weaknesses of being selfish.
Are you proposing that Anet should dumb down the class to make a possible easy 1 vs 1 build for the ele?

This guy again. /facepalm
No, I’m saying that I can play a meta viable guardian, mesmer, engi or necro and win fights with little effort or focus. Defeating the same opponent on an ele is a desperate fight that requires me to focus on every detail and play mistake free in order to win.
If you miss your burst, it’s going to be 40 seconds before you can try again. Your burst is mostly difficult to land and easy to miss skills.
You have no room for error because of your health pool and the eternity before your stun breakers come back up. Now that they’ve moved stun breakers to non-competitive utilities and left the actual good utilities as high risk, that margin for error is even slimmer.
If I’m having an easy time winning fights with little effort or focus on other classes that I have 1/5th the experience playing, and I’m having desperate fights against the same opponents as an ele which I have over 2000 hours playing, then imagine how easy playing those classes would be if I actually put 2000 hours in to master them. I’m not playing those other classes at anywhere near the skill level and yet I have an easier time winning fights with all of them.

which meta are you talking about
In tpvp meta,
meta guardian does very little damage
meta mesmer sacrifice 2 utilities for group support and relies on clones for damage
meta eng build has beed nerf.
HGH condition build has been nerf by boon hate from thieves, elixir R, and elixir S. Teldo and Koroshi build are much harder to play than a d/d element
Cannot comment on Necro but they cannot escape battle as easily as an ele
seriously which build are you talking about?
every class sacrifices utilities for team play which makes the build harder to use. If you do not provide the build, people cannot comment on the effort require to play it
For example Mesmer have the strongest 1 vs 1 build in the game, but the build is utterly worthless in group play

What annoys me about the Ele the most is that the devs are all for nerfing our class for balancing reasons whilst watching the meta. But can we really have an ele meta without bug fixes to the class? This latest patch was supposed to open doors to Scepter, Staff and Focus. And yet the focus which I still try to use as my choice of weapon gained a bug which still hasn’t been fixed. The sceptre also gained a bug (I’m S/F) which is not fixed. And was still have 500 other bugs not fixed since release. Lingering elements to name 1.

Sophea Of Elements – Human Elementalist – [DECM] | Sea of Sorrows
which meta are you talking about
In tpvp meta,
meta guardian does very little damage
You don’t need high damage to win a fight. Guardian can wear down or run off anything besides heavy sustain builds and then you’re still not going to lose. The only thing that scares my guardian is a necro with full life force and every cooldown, when I don’t have everything up.
meta mesmer sacrifice 2 utilities for group support and relies on clones for damage
Shatter build doesn’t need utilities to have fantastic damage and survivability. Everything they need is built into their weapon skills and shatters. Even if I get in trouble, I can just moa to reset.
meta eng build has beed nerf.
HGH condition build has been nerf by boon hate from thieves, elixir R, and elixir S. Teldo and Koroshi build are much harder to play than a d/d element
The nerfs are wildly exaggerated and engi is still fine. Mist form took the same nerf as elixir S and eles still use it even with a significantly longer cooldown. HGH isn’t even the best engi right now.
Cannot comment on Necro but they cannot escape battle as easily as an ele
Necro doesn’t need to run from anything. They’re the strongest offensive class in the game right now. I’m not going to jump on the “necro OP!” tear train, but they are really strong right now.

A good guardian is able survive pressure vs 2 or more enemies or 1 necro. Playing a guardian is not as simple as you think
Shatter build doesn’t need utilities to have fantastic damage and survivability. Everything they need is built into their weapon skills and shatters. Even if I get in trouble, I can just moa to reset.
errrr…. a tpvp mesmer require utilities to add dps. There is a reason why mirror images is a popular utility. Mesmer need on demand and quick clone generation to remove boons and burst. It not as easy as you think unless you are fighting against bad players.
The nerfs are wildly exaggerated and engi is still fine. Mist form took the same nerf as elixir S and eles still use it even with a significantly longer cooldown. HGH isn’t even the best engi right now.
yes, i know hgh isnt the best engineer build because it was nerfed……….I am looking at Koroshi, teldo, and the ostrigg eggs new build which are harder to play than d/d eles…..
Elixir R nerf practically remove it from being an useful utility which is one of the good engineer stun breakers
Necro doesn’t need to run from anything. They’re the strongest offensive class in the game right now. I’m not going to jump on the “necro OP!” tear train, but they are really strong right now.
So, they do not need to run from 1 vs many encounters? All classes need to run from something including Necros.

Among all professions you’ve mentioned the d/d ele is the more predictable, everybody know that you’ve got only a single high burst skill : burning speed and the rest can be mitigated easily, you just need to avoid that big hitter, as you need the right distance and set up, a non-mele build got really an easy time against a d/d ele, of course any ranged build outside s/d ele which got no way to keep the enemy at distance
Maybe it’s perspective. I certainly wanted to play my ele because I like the fact that it is a class that relies on synergy on multiple ability combinations rather than hitting 2,2,2,2,2,2,2 stealth, 2,2,2,2,2 like a thief. Definitely not bored playing an ele. Just get frustrated with the little reward you get from playing it well.
I really think you are just a terrible player which explains why you even mention HS spam and it also explains why you get little reward. Because you don’t play it well. Also I’ve noticed that a lot of elementalists (not all but a nice chunk) seem to think in their minds that they are superior to all other players because they have to click more buttons. Kinda funny really.
Wow you really assumed a lot in order to make the point of being a troll. I’m sorry you didn’t have anything to contribute to the conversation.
