25 stacks might wont do any good if your skills ae bad. And skill 1 doesnt do much dmg.
Any build is viable for pve to be honest.
alternatively you could take persisting flames and have perma fury in exchange for fewer stacks of might.

lava axe is good as far as ranged dps on moving targets goes
but if your targets are stationary or can easily be made to be stationary, you’re much better off using staff for your ranged dps
or if you can afford to be melee, lightning hammer

Being a good build is part of being viable…. I don’t want to offend anyone by saying Pve is too easy in this game that even a 0/0/0/0/0 build is good. For a more competite environment like spvp and WvW that’s where the different story takes place.
persisting flames on S/D using arcane skills for 2 more blast finishers is the way to go for dungeons imho because most of the time u will be stacking. if u need more blast finishers then 30 in arcane for EA could solve the problem. it is better for the team overall especially if a mesmer is running signet of inspiration to double the buffs.

About the weapon: It is mostly outmatched by staff both in range aswell as in damage. Not to mention, staff is also AoE. The axe was probably meant to be a ranged option for some wonky d/f builds, but it’s just not worth the hassle… If you want to conjure stuff, go hammer. More damage, more utility and more group support.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

Or frost bow, 4 is awesome damage, 3 is a nice big shotgun hit with a chill, and 5 is an awesome stun.
I used a 30 water 30 fire lava axe/frostbow build before the december 10th patch, it was a ton of fun and actually really good in most content, 20+ stacks of might at all times with little to no boon duration, full uptime on burning and a very high uptime on chill and healing. Worked with a bunch of different stat combinations too.
And then of course they killed and shuffled around necessary traits so that it isn’t possible to build for anymore. Why? So far as I can tell, because the devs hate us and we aren’t allowed to have fun builds.
