Why do you play ele?
Why do you guys even bother playing ele
Do you know that Al Gore documentation about the climate change when he comes up with this example with the frog in the glass? So, if you put the frog into a glass of boiling water, he would jump out immediately, but if you put him into cold water and you heat it, he will stay there and probably die.
Something like that.

Been asking myself the same question over and over since the game was released. Fact is the ele fits my playstyle like a glove, and my build WAS a well oiled machine. My already fragile survivability has taken a big hit with these water changes.
I ll be playing my ele once in a while, but for dungeons runs, I’ll stick with 3-4 zerk wars and a support.
For anything else than fun, the ele is dead to me.
Because of the crowd control, good burst and lots of panic buttons. .

Because of the versatility that comes with it. I run a mostly glyph build, meaning that by switching attunement, I can literally completely alter my playstyle. There’s always an answer for any situation, even if none of them are perfect, there’s also few cases in which I’m 100% useless.
Because if you /laugh /teabag people after killing them on other classes, you look like a doosh.
When an ele does it, all the enemy can say is “I can accept that.”
No, that still makes you a doosh.
You also sound like a bigger doosh when you expect respect just because you play a different profession.
I’m guessing I tea bagged you a few too many times during season one. It’s ok to let your feelings out.

we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of [ele] that would be viable

because it’s so explosive and fast paced, and versatile
Well after completing the pve section of the map I will admit, Elementalist is no longer my main, however, I still enjoy the profession and will always have a door open to return to the profession if I choose.
Buzzzzzzzzz! Boom! Fire! Lightning! Explosion! Pretty Pretty! ….oh wait I’m derd.

Anyways, blowing unsuspecting scrubs/thieves up with glass d/d never gets old.

Bad Elementalist
I play elementalist for the versatility allowed by the attunement mechanic (I know many of you will disagree, but it does allow some semblance of direct damage, control, healing, tanking, etc roles), and because I like the theme of the profession and the appearance of the spells.
I am also still playing elementalist because it is the only profession I haven’t grown tired of yet. Though I have played elementalist for a long time, I still find that there is much for me to practice and learn. I see myself continuing to play elementalist well into the future, regardless of the ebb and flow of balance.

That’s cute. Hey, Call of Duty is that way. —-→
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I played Ele since beta. At launched, I leveled my ele to about 40 (one of the highest levels on the server) but switched to Mesmer due to the issues with the class. I got my Mesmer to 80, full exotics and then I got bored with the game and left. I came back a few weeks ago because I was tired of playing League of Legends and I wanted something a little more engaging. Ele is definitely the most engaging class in any game that I have played. I love the “rotations” and how varied you can make them. I also enjoy the element of water (back in beta, I made a build based on water attunement and people called me crazy, now it’s all about x/x/x/30/30 lol). There are tons of times when I feel like a liability. And I never hit 10k meteor showers (unless you mean 10k overall and not 10k per meteor), but I try to be the best Elementalist I can.
This vid got me hyped on Ele while we were on gw2guru waiting for beta lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNAITjKJusw

q why do you play elem
a this game would be pretty forgettable if i didn’t
Because it’s a lot of fun. When I play with daggers, it’s like playing a 3D Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance.
huge castlv fan.. not sure how you came to that conclusion though
using your comment as a segue to mention it’d be insanely awesome to implement a morning star flail as an elementalist weapon {it’d be more suited to necros, but still}
