elementalist fire vs necro dhummfire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
I posted my thoughts in the other thread, but my tl;dr is
The necro and ele are fundamentally different classes with different access to damaging conditions and different potential for viable dedicated condition builds. You have to balance the relative power of these similar traits to not break the game, as each profession has a different potential by which to use that trait.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
thematically it makes no sense for ele’s fire trait to be stronger than necro’s dhummfire.
ele’s trait is also only a ADEPT while dhuumfire on necro is a GRANDMASTER!
dhummfire is the god of death’s fire!
it should be stronger especially on a GM trait. it only applies like 1 stack of bleeding per shroud 1 which is incredibly slow???this thread here discusses about the pros and cons of ele fire and dhuumfire.
what are your thoughts?
Condi ele is kind of a thing, but ele’s don’t really take it because we can burn easily from our weapons so it becomes redundant. Feels kind of like your looking at it from a they stole our candy and gave it to Ele in a vacuum. That trait always gave us burning on crit we just never take it because we have easy access to burning. Necro’s didn’t then they had better access with Dhuum initially now they changed it. In the context of what each class is capable of doing Dhuum on a Ele isn’t as good as v1 Dhuum was on a Necro.
What I see is chill becoming more of the necro’s thing since it’s even going on an auto attack.
Shivers of Dread—When you inflict fear on an opponent, you also inflict chill.
Cold Shoulder—Chill lasts longer, and chilled foes deal less damage to you. (protection like)
Context
Guardians have a trait that chills on critical hits with a hammer, but since they aren’t big conditions monsters outside of burning nobody talks about that trait much except how bad it is.
Context
You mention thematically it makes no sense for it to be stronger than a Necro’s trait when Ele’s had burning since the game came out and Necro’s didn’t. Heck every other class could get some access to burning when the game first came out except Necro’s and Thief.

The necros in your same community disagreed with you..and now you come here with the same non-sense, condi ele in pvp?…with what freaking amulet?..the trait is basically useless outside PvE/WvW and even there it’ll see very little usage.
Btw Eles had access to burning since GW1 launch and just in every other MMO out there now with an elementalist class in it, if there is somebody who stole burning..that would be necro

first you made a post in the necro forum with the title “eles stole dhuumfire” and now youre here? im just asking myself have u ever played ele? dhuumfire is a gm necro got far after release to give them more strength and it was too much. eles always had fire everywhere. i mean 1 of their 4 attunement is even called fire. what do u think u do with these attacks? it was already dumb that necro will get damaging chill which should have been a ele thing dont make it worse. youre making the whole necro community look stupid

ok im sorry EremiteAngel that was my fault. but still complaining about traits in a vacuum is just not a good idea. sure their traits is better but they dont even really need it. lets see how everything changes with the patch
Necro’s are just OP in general, too high health and a tone of conditions damage, more damage and some extra damage. Don’t compare it with Elemetalists please!

Lol. I’m in Ele’s corner, they can’t be compared like that. But Necromancer OP? XD Cmon now.

Lol you have been out of the game for quite while, that hammer trait is actually in the new spvp meta build for guardians which is one of the top 4-5 strongest builds right now approximately at the same level as dd ele. Just a funny observation on how the times have changed.

To each class its own damaging conditions.
-Elementalist have: Burning and Bleeding.
-Necromancer have: Bleeding, Poison, Torment. (Burning with Dhuumfire was an extra)
And now, you would want to reduce the Elementalist’s burn to match with an off-class condition from the Necromancer?
So here’s what you want: Damaging conditions:
-Elementalist : Bleeding + (Bad Burning)
-Necromancer: Bleeding + Poison + Torment + (Bad Burning)
Thanks for the post; don’t post anymore.

you know that burning precision has been around far longer than dhuumfire, right?
you also realize that dhuumfire procs 100% on hit on an autoattack, and burning precision only procs 33% chance on crit, right?
that means a dhuumfire necro needs zero precision to proc the burning. while the elementalist needs a decent crit rate for the trait to be worth taking.
these two traits are exactly in the tiers they deserve to be, because dhuumfire is much stronger than burning precision and always has been. (since dhuumfire’s inception that is)

You are looking at this from the converse point of view and forgetting that ele is not necromancer minus torment and poison. Obviously, necromancer is in a bad place, and us necromancers don’t want to drag down ele with us (doubly so for me because I actually have more hours on my ele than necro).
The point of the problem for necros is that this “powerful” grandmaster trait that the devs have so generously “gifted” to us is completely outclassed by someone else’s adept trait that can also synergize with a gandmaster trait to give ele build defining active defense that necros can only dream of. It is very frustrating for necro to see that their grandmasters are subpar in comparison to adept traits despite the fact that they are supposed to be “build defining.”
Necromancers don’t have good heals, mobility, or stability (not bound to suicidal elites). The least we could get is good access to the conditions we’re supposed to be the “king” of.

Ok so ele has a strong trait with burning and necro has an inferior one…what was the point of this thread again?
Eremite, you’re basically claiming that necromancer’s dhuumfire and elementalist’s burning precision have some sort of connection, which they don’t really…In addition, necromancer has no access to burning other than dhuumfire, while burning is a core part of the elementalist class. As such, it makes sense to me that this elementalist adept trait is as effective as it is.
No offense, eremite, but making this thread and posting it on the elementalist subforum gets nothing done. It would be better to just make a thread on necro forums making a convincing argument as to why/how dhuumfire should/could be made stronger.

You can have our crappy burn on crit trait that no one uses anyway if we can have some life leech on crit that no necros use anyway. A perfectly fair trade. I’d much rather have the lifesteal on crit than the burn on crit. Or even the chill dealing damage trait that reaper will get. I’d love for people than poke my frost aura to kill themselves on it.
