one with air trait?
It does work but the speed-bonus is marginal. I think it’s approximately the same speed you get from swiftness. I tried it by running around with air signet while switching to air and I didn’t really notice any change in speed. You only notice it in combat, but still it doesn’t do much more than simple swiftness. So it’s still the worst trait ever.
Switching targets while chaneling a spell seems not to work. Anybody else tried?
edit: talking about speed … is windborne dagger (still) bugged?
Speed is capped at 133% (which is the speed you have with swiftness),
you will only notice the +100% speed from one with air if you’re crippled, chilled or in any other way slowed.

Another question: have you tested the increased radius from Fireball (with blasting staff)? I tried it at the golems in the mists by casting a fireball at a golem surrounded by many others and by placing a lava-font exactly under the golem. The font hit more targets.
edit: fireball seems to cap at 3 targets … is this intended?

They reused the engineer’s Superspeed which has a known bug in that it doesn’t exceed the 33% OoC and 25% IC limits. So that is a 66% to 75% waste in speed.
As for the duration, they are afraid of the stacking from FreshAir builds which is exactly where they targetted this for in the first place. The duration needs to be 2.5s to be of much use, IMO … even with a FA build.

The new “One with air” is the lamest thing I’ve ever seen. I want the old one back. I mean what are 100% additional speed for 1.5 sek instead of 25% moving speed the whole time? Now I have to use “Signet of Air” which blocks one of my utility slots
You have to use it while in combat. It’s significantly faster than swiftness there.

It procs in combat, setting forward movement speed at 400 instead of the usual 210 for 1.5 seconds, which is nearly double combat movement speed. Effectively, this creates about 190 units of distance between you and someone else with swiftness on, or a melee autoattack’s distance worth.
A cool idea for chasing or disengaging, especially with fresh air, but not impactful enough for me to want to take it compared to bolt to the heart’s raw damage increase. Has anyone tested to see if it also has the stunbreak component of engineer’s super speed? If so, this would be a must-take for a 10 point trait.
Although a possible stunbreak every 5 seconds sounds pleasing doubt it works that way.

It’s still crap Josh. It’s just too short, or not enough speed, or both. No one is gonna waste a trait slot on this.
If the objective was to make it attractive, gotta do more to it.
We need mobility to survive in PvP, and 1,5 secs of speed is not enough even with Fresh Air builds.

I have to agree with the other posters. This was false advertising. What good is 100% increased movement speed if it doesn’t apply to straffing, dodge, backpedals, leaps, evasive rolls. That’s what makes up the majority of combat mobility, not forward movement speed. It doesn’t even apply outside of combat. And it last for 1.5 seconds. This is completely useless. You guys have ruined an amazing idea here. Quite honestly, you’ve made a mistake.

Its just that the Change did more harm than good. The old 25% Speed was very useful, while the new one is very situational. It would have been nice to add the new Bonus, instead of taking away the old one.
The Change is quite Toxic for some Builds out there.
One with air is 100% increase to in combat movement speed:
As per the wiki:
Out of combat movement speed: 300 u/s
In-combat movement speed: 210 u/s
Speed cap: 400 u/s (133% of ooc speed)
One with air: 1.5 s of movement at 400 u/s every 10s = 600 units
Normal in-combat benefit from elemental attunements (280 u/s) for 1.5s = 420 units
Applied every 10s that is a whole: (600-420)/10 = 18 u/s difference!!
So useless!
Josh, I actually used the 25% movement speed buff it was before.
You removed this from me and gave me something that I can’t see any practical use for. 1.5 seconds is not enough time for that amount of speed to be any sort of advantage. Even WITH a Fresh Air build which was the target for this change in the first place.
Either buff the duration or put it back.
P.S. : Do you even have any WvW/PvP focused elementalists on your internal testing server? This is something that anyone with half a brain could have pointed out to you during development.
P.P.S. : Inscription is a better trait for speed now. I can use Inscription and get 45+ seconds of swiftness by swapping to Air and using GoEH .

I really like the change. I used superspeed both from the toolbelt and from kit refinement all the time on my engi to get out of circles or open/close some distance. Already found it useful on the ele.
Though admittedly, since less of our movement skills benefit from speed buffs, it does lose some of it’s effectiveness there. Nothing comparable to rocket boots of combo it with.

A guildmate of mine pointed out how nice it would have been if a longer duration would allow a similar combo like: switch on lightning for owa-proc, switch to fire and use staff’s 200 distance buffed burning retreat with the bonus (or a burning speed from dagger). Add in some Fresh Air Procs and even something crazy silly like 20pts in fire for cd reduction for a 16 burning retreat (just some fun theorycrafting) but unfortunately even with 30pts in arcane to reduce the attunement gcd of the non selected attunemt to 1 sec you cannot switch attunements fast enough to make it even work in the first place.
Maybe something like a fresh air/one with air d/d ele could become fun?

Oh right, of course, didn’t think of that, even though i was testing the double burning retreat with staff and axe in the mists. which btw is quite nice, a double 200distance buffed burning retreat is quite fun ^^
/edit speaking of testing it with conjures, it would be worthwhile to test it on flameswords whirlwind and especially fiery rush paired with flash
wish i had some free time on my hands to test the new patch, i definatley will test how a the aforementioned freshair/onewithair d/d ele in wvw with traited 32s rtl will perform now in wvw

This is an excellent point. This new trait may have supplied a bit of interesting utility if it worked with strafing and what-not. But, as it doesn’t, it’s utterly useless.

Josh you guys need to rethink your views on the elementalist. No one is happy with it and many people quit playing when they heard it was supposed to be terrible at everything. It doesn’t work in a condi neta. It doesn’t work in a stun meta. It won’t work in a power meta. Warriors hit harder and are tankier at the same time. I understand you guys worked kitten this update but I’m tired of being underdog. Same with rangers. Fix our traits man.

Try it with the elite greatsword!! Thats were it shows the biggest.Its also dope with magnetic grasp (go far far away than when the skill got red the first time :P) and both the retreats.Bunring speed seems to not have much of a difference though

The actual weapon isn’t terrible either, esp for might-stacking, which our old bunker use to do for semi-decent damage.
The far-point assault is on!
Also, this works with staff or s/f, which might be even better for a bunker. S/F can hold our quite long and has some great tools to take down those pesky spirit rangers and other pet classes (dragon’s tooth’s best use is killing pets).

Movement speed affects leaps.So does super speed.Cast a leap like burning retreat and quickly switch to air and see what happened.This trait imho is tier 2 and with fresh air is almost op.

Look at Purging Flames buff for guardians -20% condition duration AOE! And now look at +1.5 sec movement speed that is not working out of combat…

Sorry, but this “One with Air” change seems like a “Puff of Air,” especially since all of the ele’s speed skills have a longer recharge duration now — many of which have almost doubled since release.
The One with Air change seems to make sense in combat, especially for PvP/WvW. In battle, I am constantly switching elements, as is intended for the class. However, for just relaxing, gathering materials, etc. in PvE, it’s nice to get a break from the insane button mashing (aka: constant element swapping).
Anet, please consider giving the elementalist a better running skill (weapon or utility — with less than a 30 second cooldown) or returning our old #4 trait. (However, it looks like “Signet of Air” will likely be a near perma-addition to my skill bar again…)
