You are right but that auto attack. I do not have to be up the mobs behind just to get it to hit.

Originally the bomb range was 120 units, which was basically closer-than-melee, which turned me off from using bombs in cramped places. Now I gotta think up a close-range build with the bomb kit as the star.
God I love bomb kit. Giddy with excitement.
I yesterday made change to my usual bunker from FT to bombs (with trait) and Its bit insane:-) 3,5k hps and decent damage. before I was able to survive 1v3 almost infinite time. Now I am also able kill them all 3:-P

I’m really excited to try out bombs now, but I’m trying to pull together a new set of armour for it. What kind of gear are you guys using?
I was thinking pistol/pistol, Healing Turret, Tool Kit, Bomb Kit, Rocket Boots (or Elixir S, situational), Supply Drop… then dire armour/noble runes
Thoughts?

What Trait setup are you using for that?
Yesterday i soloed an entire group event chain using bombs, and im not even lvl 80.
I’m not sure if i will still spend my laurels on my (main) thief.
The day before tomorrow I solo’d an entire SERVER with my bombs. Sigh, bombs are still the same – just a bigger range doesn’t make them so much more powerfull then before. Damage is still the same, Combos are still the same.

Haha, but was in a low lvl area, the ogre camp in Plains of Ashford. With a bigger radius, you can kill more mobs on the same time, so it’s an increase to DPS.
Have you guys even compared the new radius to the traited radius?
Plz go ahead and test it, 180 radius vs 240. Plz test it carefully and provide feedback of your results. My tests results helped me by my dicision to drop that trait to gain something less useless. Sad thing that this is probably the best buff we got since ~3 patches.

•Vigorous Shouts: Increased the base healing by 25%. Increased the scaling with healing power stat from 80% to 90%.
•Staggering Blow: This skill can now be used while moving. Reduced the cast time to 0.5 seconds.
For PvE combat, that increase may be like nothing (as pre-patch’s range was plenty enough), but for PvP? God it is just awesome! Trying to hit constantly moving target is completely different.

For a long time a fix (not even going to call it a buff) has been begged for. I think many are just glad to see it. Bombs have always been a threat PvP wise to melee opponents. However in many cases it was just easy to walk out of the blast radius. Now there is more threat to the sitting bombs because even with dodges you might not be able to walk outside the aoe range as was done before.

It was almost just me requesting this since BWE1, the radius on bombs got nerfed btw because back then they were at 240 traited. The difference between 120 and 180 is high but for some reason the difference between 180 and 240 doesnt look that high or its just the animation. Try it yourself with traited and untraited firebombs and compare.
I´ve never been into bombs because of the tiny range and the long delay until they finally explode.
But this week I tried power-bomb-builds with elixirs while running with my WvW-guild on borderlands: the traited range is still practically only twice meleé-range but decent enough for zerg fights.
We´re fighting EU rank 1 and rank 6 this week and while I´m rather tanky (incl. 3 sources for protection) and did fine against our rank 6 enemies and even had a blast on eternals, I died more often than ever and often as one of the first against the rank 1 borderland-zergs.
Most times I found myself stunlocked in the middle of a red sea which meant fast death or not enough hp to get out alive.
Reasons: Elixir B simply doesn´t deliver in those cases as the stability-duration is so short and hard/slow to reapply (even more with skilllags). Elixir S has an incredible long cooldown while the toolbelt-skill turned from random into a waste for zerg fights.
I won´t give up that fast on bombs, more practice and tinkering around with gear might help.
But on todays reset-evening I will run with my Guard again who once more proofed to be much more efficient this week.

Bomb Kit is amazing in WvW big fights. It’s absolutely a must have. I use it in combo with the Toss Elixir B stability and Rifle jump to be immediately in the middle of the enemy zerg.
Before the radius was only 120 (and the area 1/4 of what we have now) and was really difficult to hit someone.

Well, from 120 to 180 it’s +50%
From 180 to 240 it’s +33%
If you want to use power bombs, though (maybe in a soldier/cleric build) you won’t need Incendiary Powder, so that is the best trait there. And IMHO you should aim to make bombs as wide as possible.

i think this combination can become some kind of stable zerg engi build….i’m gonna make videos of zerg v zerg fights with that build and with ranged-nades build aswell…

In my experience bombs work nicely with condition builds. I like to combine it with tool kit and then whatever stun break you feel like. This allows you to stack some nice confusion after magnet pull with crowbar+concussion bomb. Combine with the now rather large range on fire bomb, the stealthing capabilities of smoke bomb, the root and cripple of glue bomb and the “back off sign” that is big ol’bomb you can easily keep your enemy on the ropes.
Although you should keep in mind that this setup trades stun breaks for pulls/blocks/conditions so that leaves you only one slot for a stun break. You also should not be spending a whole lot of time in bombs if you’re fighting anything other than melee classes minus warrior. For warrior you’ll want to be constantly switching between kits to make use of smoke bomb, big ol’bomb, glue bomb, magnet pull, gear shield and other disabling skills because with only one possible stun break, staying in melee range with just bombs is not advisable.
Personally, when I use my main bomb build, I like at minimum, a 50% condition duration.

I like this build because I can maintain 800-1200 constant bleed damage up, I have poisons damage and heal debuff up 100% of the time, burn up 100% of the time, 10 or so stacks of vulnerability up 100% of the time, confusion up 100% of the time, and can keep weakness up all the time.
With the traits “II” “Shrapnel” the bomb auto attack keeps several hundred points of bleeds damage up on top of the solid direct damage .

I use bombs in a power build, but they are very situational. Basically they’re the strongest power auto we have but they’re certainly not worth taking just for the auto—I think they work well in rifle bunker builds, which are going to spend a lot of time dealing and soaking damage. I can’t think of any other way to use them in a power build.

I once played a bombing bunker with cleric amulet and elixir-infused bombs and it worked. I traded some bunkering capabilities with the ability to ensure my team to win group fights, where my bombs were hard to avoid. IMHO if you want to heal through bombs you have to use power, because you’ll use autoattack. Back in those dayse I could take down warrior 1v1, other classe just walked away from my bombs and left me alone. I just wanted to see if increased radius made bombs #1 useful in 1v1, but it’s not that easy.
Then I realized I just wanted to one-button-spam my way to victory.
