Changing Elixirs in Combat.
Nobody can swap skills in combat, what about elixirs makes them special? I mean, if other classes could swap signets or something in combat and we had no equivalent then sure, but this is just filling my brain with WHY.
I like the idea of a elixir kit I must admit. Pull out your kit, then you have Elixir B, S, C, U, and X (I know its elite, but I can’t remember if we have any others lol) they are on similar cool downs and such. I think that would be cool, but would that over power an engineer? Given the fact that they currently take up utility slots and all, giving us a kit and saying, here are 5 utility skills might not seem that fair (though I guess it could be argued thats what they did with every other kit…)
Interesting none the less…
I too like the idea of an elixir kit. To keep it from getting OP you could just put them all on the same cooldown timer but the cooldown varies depending which one you used. Having access to all of them at anytime would be fantastic.
So you want the option to have 4 buffs, quickness, complete condition removal, and 2 stunbreakers (one of which grants invincibility and the other refills endurance) all to only take up a single skill slot? I don’t see that ever happening.
Sorrow’s Furnace
I see most opposed to the idea don’t understand the random nature of our toolbelt elixir skills.
We’re already penalised by losing weapon stats when we switch to a kit, our ‘buffs’ are largely random and we can’t benefit from weapon sigils while using kits.
I’m not saying to be able to use all buffs at once, but to use one of several with a shared cooldown.
The elixir kit I was thinking more of a 30 pointer for alchemy.
As for Szar, if I wanted one role I’d be playing with the panda’s. Seems you’d be more at home there

No i just know ho to build my spec to be versatile and not fall into the multi kit trap. Now if you stop wanting everything to fit into you liitle jack of all trades box; you might sit down and think about what is the intention of the random effects of elixers.
Put all elixirs in elixir kit. When you use an elixir, it goes on the same cooldown as now, but all other elixirs go on short cooldown too.
There.

Elixirs are TOO situation and too random. Other classes can find a set up of skills that let them tackle most situations, but for an Engineer to be efficient we need to change our elixirs before every fight.
In certain places, this isn’t possible, such as WvW and in Dungeons.
This makes us pretty kitten useless.
It’s hard to explain, but you’ll understand if you try an Engineer to Lv30 at least.

Cool assumptions, bro. I change my whole BUILD multiple times per dungeon and tweak it often in WvW. We’re allowed to do that for a reason.
For the record, I do think that a couple elixirs could use a bit of normalization, particularly the thrown ones. Regen is nowhere near as valuable as vigor or protection. I don’t want a @#$%ing stealth wall, I want a bullet-stopping wall. I don’t care how nice chaos armor is.

You do, but I know many players who find a set up that works well for the whole dungeon.
I’ve yet to find an Engineer who can do the same.
But yeah, you get the idea clearly, as that’s the one Elixir I regret getting.
It’s cool when it pops an effect I need, but lets count how many times that’s happened.
Zero.
I need a wall? Earthquake.
I need invisible? Wall.
I need earthquake? Invisible.
Some of them feel redundant, such as the healing elixir giving you a random boon that never suits your situation. I waste both the heal and the tool belt ability wanting a speed boost, I get regen and protection. That’s really gonna help me survive the army of thieves coming at me.
Honestly, if people are rolling their way through the whole dungeon with a static build I think that’s the thing that needs fixing, not the opposite. Countering your opponent is half the battle.
The only one that REALLY bugs me is Elixir U, with the crippling downside you can’t prepare for and the anti-ranged wall that fails 1/3 of the time. All the others are so minor that I can’t bring myself to care, the base elixir is still useful and the toolbelt skill is still a decent buff and Cleaning Formula/HGH delivery system.
