Deployable Turrets was broken last patch, scope has been broken since launch, but a Thief trait breaks and it needs a hotfix asap?

Hidden Killer is much easier to fix than Scope would be. Hidden killer has an active trigger (stealth). This is as easy as “Oh, I mis-typed an if/then statement.”

Scope, on the other hand, requires a little more. Especially since it depends on latency. Something as simple to the player as run-stop-pop-run can be missed by Scope’s watching script. Since it doesn’t take but a half second to shoot, by the time you stop and shoot, Scope would apply the +10% too late and the quick shot would be missed.

This is just one theory why Scope doesn’t work and is harder to fix than Hidden Killer.

Then they should have changed the Scope trait into something they can competently implement. Having it broke for 7+ months looks really bad on them.

They didn’t even care to reply about the super elixir “buff” when i made a thread about that (and i’m still bumping it every now and then). And fixing that would require either changing two variables or editing a post.

I was wondering if the SE buff was an accidental carryover from the last major patch. I’ve seen no difference between SE before and after patch.

Hopefully the reason for the patch was to give us a little boost since we lost our KR SE pop.

And hopefully we actually see this buff.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t mean the change, because any patch fix is great for this game. I mean this whole line of thinking. They fixed a bug, and just because it wasn’t the Engineer’s bug you are all complaining?

I get it, you are frustrated that Scope is still bugged and that Deployable Turrets recently is bugged. However the fix to Hidden Killer was probably exceptionally easy to do. Now this is speculation driven by experience with programming, but to me I’d imagine the Scope bug is incredibly difficult to fix and the Deployable Turrets one is at least more difficult then the Hidden Killer one. The Hidden Killer bug is also a much higher priority as many more people were using it then these other two Engi traits. Is there anything wrong with that? No!

There are tons of bugs across every class that are like Scope and Deployable Turrets. Do all the other professions complain about things like this too? Actually yes, they do. We are not alone in this department. They have a lot of things to fix, and it sounds incredibly petty when we identify a bug fix and complain that it wasn’t ours.

What should you do instead? Make a thread with a topic concerning the Deployable Turrets bug. The Scope bug. Make bug reports about it. Put it in the Bug forums. Do anything other then the completely unproductive task of complaining about the bug in a thread obfuscated via complaints that other classes are getting fixes. That’s not going to get anything done and is nothing more then a fruitless activity of pessimism.

That’s cute, but we have been making bug reports/posts on this bug for the past 7 months. And nothing has changed so I will continue to press the issue in what ways I feel will bring attention to it the most until it is fixed. If you do not agree with the way I do it, then please by all means feel free to ignore/report me.

But we are getting off topic so great fix for the thieves Anet, however please fix our Engineer bugs too.

Every class has been making bug reports on bugs for 7 months. I agree it’s a real issue. I’m merely pointing out that the way we present the issue should be the actual issue, and not via a complaint we don’t get enough attention.

I want the same things you want. I want our stuff fixed. I don’t want to ignore or report you, I want to convince you to do things in a more productive manner. The way it’s done now is childlike, likely unintentionally done so, and I want to correct that.

One of the important things to remember is that there’s no excuse for the Deployable Turrets bug making it past QA. Much of the patch was intended to help turrets, among which was to fix Deployable Turrets. Any degree of QA should have caught that bug.
Hidden Killer was not addressed in the patch, so it inadvertently becoming bugged and not being noticed by QA is excusable, but Deployable Turrets is not.

Oh, and maybe Hidden Killer is used more than Scope because it works. If the order of bugfixes is according to what is used most, then the things that are broken already would be at the bottom of the list to fix, because no one uses them, as they are broken.

The first three months or so, things were handled in a decent way. People just posted on teh bug report thread, or created a topic about a bug. But 7 months later things still are not as they should be functioning. I can understand the annoyed attitude of the community.

And I’m just happy we stopped swearing and produce dev hate threads. Instead there are made many jokes Xd.

I totally agree with you Ayestes, that would have been a better response. But… we already tried that. We had a really nice long list of Engi bugs compiled into one easy-to-read list. The community was working together to expand and maintain the list. Bugs from there were mentioned in another post with a Dev and the Dev said, “… oh, hey, that exists?” -_-0 Well, it’s stickied right there guys… At some point, the frustration level of the community is going to start boiling over. We’re not bad people. We’re just sick of doing things the “right” way and still not being heard.

I understand the frustration. I really do. Trying new things makes sense in that regard, but trying less effective things isn’t going to get us anywhere. Maybe there is an alternative path of relying information to the devs, but a negative method isn’t going to be it. Until then, really the best bet is to continue making threads on the topic and discuss in detail exactly what the issue is in both the Engineer and Bug Report forums. Bring it up to devs when you can and the like. The In-Game Client is a wonderful way to report the bug too. Don’t assume others have already done it, do it yourself.

Because negative reactions don’t work in this environment. The only discredit the entire argument. Maybe not completely, but it doesn’t help. Negativity is not going to foster nearly as much change on a gaming forum as positive discussion will.

Maybe there is another way to communicate to the devs we haven’t thought of. The negative approach isn’t going to be the way though. I hope you can see that, but if you can’t, I guess I’ll leave you to it.

I would think that the Hidden Killer fix was prioritized in this patch because of the removal of culling in WvW. The devs have mentioned lots of changes they have planned for Thieves that would essentially amount to a class rework (boon hate, more mobility, less stealth, less burst, etc.), but we didn’t really see them implemented this patch because they were afraid of overnerfing Thieves with the removal of culling. They probably want to get an accurate picture of how the Thief functions now that culling is gone, and they won’t get that picture if a popular stealth trait is broken. Since they haven’t mentioned plans for Engi changes on the same scale as Thief changes, they’re probably less concerned about fixing things like Scope right now. It’s become abundantly clear over the past several months that the QA/class balance team is stretched woefully thin, so they probably have to make choices like that about which bugs they fix. I don’t like it, but that’s how it is right now.

Personally i find Scope just doesn’t fit with the dynamic playstyle of an Eng where standing still => dead.
Now if we had a Sniper kit, that included no movement attack skills, that would be different. (Oh wait, is that what the Mortar Kit is meant to be? But that . . .)

As for the fix – Thief is one of ANet’s darling classes, so it needs to be fixed asap.

Probably the only reason we’re not voted as bottom profession anymore is because of photoshopped 100nades pictures :P

Don’t get me wrong I didn’t like 100nades and didn’t use it myself bar testing it out, but I hated how predictable was the rabid nerfhammer applied to 100nades that also ruined a huge collection of other fun, legitimate slightly under-par but interesting builds.

Maybe they prioritized that fix, because they broke it in the first place in the last patch! Such regression is ugly.

Also, the emergency patch fixed client crashes according to change log. If there was no such crashes to fix, it’s very possible thieves would have to wait one month to get ANet to fix what they broke in the last patch.

That can change things then certainly. In WvW we certainly aren’t at the bottom though, as I think we are even in better shape there then in sPvP. In PvE, I wouldn’t group us with the bottom three. I’d group us with anything but Mesmers, Warriors, and Guardians. Which would be five. The PvE side is a problem, but one we share with many. Whether it’s unanimous that we are the bottom three is a different issue there, but since I don’t think we are the bottom three for for PvE (maybe 4th in my book, we’d be competitive with the top 3 if we weren’t screwed on the condi-caps) then it technically isn’t unanimous. I’m unsure beyond how much of the community considers us the bottom three in PvE though, since I haven’t really seen much discussion on that outside the dominance of the top three.
