Ahh awesome!! Glad to meet you! Was super fun to fight with you! You actually how me totally fooled the first two – three duels because I thought you for a Shatter Power build, mostly because you ran a sword in main hand! So when I suddenly bursted myself to death from confusion I was like, wtf
100+ duels with Osicat trainned me a lot on the memser animations, so it helps me out a lot to avoid the worst spikes! tho, you was really good at it! so was a blast fighting you hehe
But yeah, I moved to Gunnar’s Hold with my guild for about 3 weeks ago now! So it is kinda new there!

I’m kinda hybrid specced. Most of my gear is knight/valkyrie/PVT, and sometimes a bit of Rabid. I got Rabid staff and 30 in Illusions, so those alone give me close to 500 condi damage.
I can imagine 100+ duels with Osi teach you to handle the pressure, and put some back. His playstyle is pretty aggressive.
PS. Prybar so strong!
WvW Roaming with Mesmer
ahh so it was a hybrid build!! No wonder I wasn’t sure on what was going on haha!
But great build, I really enjoyed it, and the combo damage you did with confusion was awesome! really liked it! But I gues you won’t keep hybrid when they nerf confusion with 50%? =/
PS. Prybar is BAUSE!
WvW Roaming movies!
Yeah, for sure the confusion will drop my overall damage a bit, since all my shatters put 1 stack per clone. My burst will definitely drop a lot, since I usually try to time Cry of Frustration just before going for burst to hopefully get couple confusion ticks when enemy tries to react to the pressure. But I feel mesmers are overall pretty strong atm, so I’m not too concerned about it.
Maybe people start ignoring confusion more if the damage doesn’t look so intimidating, and that could actually boost the damage, who knows. Patch will tell.
I’m gonna roll with the same build after the patch and start tweaking it as I play.

That is my hope as well that will happen! When I do some sPvP that actually tend to be what happens a lot, so who knows? maybe in the end it will overall make confusion deal more damage! But I wish you good luck with the build, because it was for sure fun to fight, so hope it can keep going in

Feel free to share it in this thread so more people can see it!
Oh you know, nothing really important. Instead of having 20 points in the power trait line, I only put 10 there and the remaining 10 goes into the vitality trait line (for a total of 20 points in that line). The power adept skill I use in bigger AOE on bombs and the master skill I use on vitality is Elixir S at 25% health if zerging and 5% convertion of condition dmg if roaming or 1v1. I also prefer the shield in second hand to deal with stealth thieves (block stun (skill 5) if DD thief goes stealth, reflect projectile (skill 4) if DP thief goes stealth and push thieves out of shadow refuge for any thief (skill 4 reactivated)). I also use Elixir S in the 3rd utility slot, but when roaming, I use net turret.
To your question: I will of cause have to give it a test inside WvW when th paetch hit, but so far I have been testing the build for some time inside sPvP to see how 50% less Confusion damage feels, and even while confusion deals a lot of the damage in the build, it’s mostly vs players not understanding confusion. Good players didn’t take damage from it anyway, and I just used it to lure out condition removal or shut them down for some time!
The build still got pretty much one of the best burning uptime in the game, able to keep it up permanent quite well. So that’s still a major damage dealer right there, and probaly the reason why it’s still working quite well in sPvP at 50% less confusion damage, but it is of cause a major damage nerf. It also means I will have a much harder time to justify picking up bomb kit, instead of grenade kit in WvW, in sPvP bomb kit feels a lot stronger because of the time we fight on the points and it really shine.
But outside in WvW Nade kit is, even before the 50% damage nerf to confusion, nades feels stronger then bomb kit on many points: The Freeze nades beat glue bomb, the bleeding nades beat the burning bomb (the duration on those bleeds a sick!), the smoke bomb is on some points better then the flash grenades, but that can hardly justify picking it over grenade kit.
Concusion bomb is of cause what sells the kit for me, and it’s a lot stronger then the poison grenades (even while those are strong)! I mean 5 stacks confusion in AOE won me a lot of encounters where I was outnumbered because people tend to spam a lot more skills there.
but with a 50% damage nerf? meeeh, I will have to test it, but i’m afraid AoE poison fields will be more solid in the end!he flaw with confusion at the moment is it trigger from a lot of things it should trigger from, the biggest being: Traits that activate a skill, Trait that gives on dodge effects and weapon/kit/attunment swapping.
Thank you for this very detailed response. I do agree that the bomb might be replaceable after the patch. Toolkit will, I think, still be viable since the prybar is still very strong and the magnet is just so fun. Grenades might work as a replacement with the arguments you gave and I also feel replacing the bomb with an elixir R might also be a good thing for condition removal, since we have so few cond removal.
The Elixir S nerf will also hit quite a bit, in my opinion. Being able to use my medkit and bombs while shrunk was very useful, but now we won’t be able to do that anymore.
If the confusion and elixir S nerf hits to hard, I might try the famous HGH build (nade + permanent might stacks).
I also agree that the confusion damage would be OK right now if it only dealt damage upon skill activation rather than ANY ACTION.

Hey everyone! So a lot have happend to the overall balance of the Engineer since I started on making video, so atm. I’m testing out all my old builds to see if they still work, and tinkering with a new builds as well! Hence, I have updated the gearlist on every signle build, and swapped a bit in the traits where I felt it was needed! So here goes an update on all the builds if you guys want to look at it:

The only build I’m not sure about working anymore, is the Confusion Bomb Build, while it’s still strong, I think the Condition grenadir now overpower it, simply because with a 50% confusion nerf, Grenade kit now stands even stronger over the Bomb kit, sadly!
I also have run out of space in my first post it appear, so I’m not sure how to keep editing things and keep it simple, I hope I can get in contact with a mod so he can maybe add a few new posts behind the first!!
Also, I’m soon probaly gonna be a Co-host on an Engineer podcast at Sitting on a Coach (you can find them here: http://sittingonacouch.com/category/gaming/) where I ofc. hope for you guys support! Go check out some of the other classes podscasts all ready now, a lot of good tips there!
I will try get the “How to X Proffesion:” videos going again if I can get time!

Hey everyone! Here goes a little update for you all!
First of, I’m gathering new footage for a roaming video that wil be a mix of me running Confusion bomb build and Condition Grenadier build! While doing so I ended up getting a little funny clip, that shows quite well how I abuse LOS to troll and kite people when it’s 1vsMany! I ended up with uploading it for itself, so you can enjoy that here!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gFIvPtF50M&lc=j9eS2Wd2b8hhssGpqbbiVl9B8c_0FN04saWqP4GCup4&feature=em-comment_received&lch=email
With that said, I have now tested out all the builds for some time after the patch, and while the HGH Explosive Alchemist are still amazing strong, I won’t be using them anymore, mostly because they have become a bit to simple and dull for my taste, with only one kit and else drinking elixirs! They are tho, still insane good builds, so don’t be afraid of use!
“The Napalm Specialist” is super strong in 1vs1 and 1vs2, and it be adjusted a lot to fit people’s personal playstyle, the perma burning and low CD on the burning skills wins most of the fights quite burtal! It’s also in the standard setup in the build I linke, quite simple to use, so it’s a good build to start out with!
The Troll build are still amazing at what it do, trolling and soaking, while kiting around and being annoying,! The 50% confusion nerf does hurt a little bit, but it’s a power build more then anything, so not that much of a deal
The explosive toolkit still got the same amazing stupid amount of burst, and it still dies super fast if you mess up! It is truely a High Risk and High Reward build, but it’s super fun to play from time to time, so I will probaly be making a new video with that sometime as well!
Now, the two builds I will focus on most of the time is gonna be Confusion Bomb and Condition Grenadier, where The Grenadier build probaly is the strongest of the two! I say that, because it dish out better damage, at longer range now! Before the 50% confusion nerf, it was worth the risk to go melee vs 3-4 people, to plant the concusion bomb, because the damage it would deal was so strong (most people just spam attack in a 1vs4, for good reason).
But now, it’s hard to justify running into melee, when I could bomb them from 1500 range with AoE bleeding stacks lasting for 24 seconds, and perma poison!
That dosn’t mean Confusion Bomb ain’t stil la killer, the amount of burning it got as well still makes it a kitten good killer, and it’s still good in 1vs1 and 1vs2, but anything beyond that get’s a bit to hard, where the Grenadier build shine all the time, so It will probaly be the new build is use the most, sadly!
Also, tomorrow I will have some interveiws with potenial Co-hosts for the “Sitting on a Coach” Engineer Podcast team, which I will be Co-host of! Which I of cause hope you all will enjoy! When his/she is found, we will try get the first podcast up and running as fast as we can!

Hello Drakeco! I decided to try a new build based on your confusion bomb build. I replaced the bombkit with grenades and changed the traits to something similar to what famous streamer Koroshi uses. It is still a condition build, but now it has a lot more power.
Here’s a 1v3 low quality video I recorded (with a clever Elixir R revive) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXQ8FTMUEI4
And here’s my build based on your build and Koroshi’s : http://bit.ly/15iKNQb

I’m afraid the link to the build you posted here send me to german I think? Economy Website? :P
But I watched the video, and followed the link to the build from there hehe! I like the build, but I would say it’s a lot more like my Condition Grenadier build, thne my confusion bomb build! ^^
It’s a solid build for sure tho, all ways love to see people do their own twist on my builds,, and I also like to run with Elixir R from time to time, because of that little near self ress with it, as you show off so nice in that video! But nice little video, and I like your running around with the new healing Turret! Still testing that one out myself!
If I should come with a little tip btw, I would swap one of your Carrion weapons out with a giver’s weapon, that would put you right on 100% condition duration, instead of the 90% you have now, giving your sharpnel grenade a 24 sec duration! ^^

You kittens don’t even know what the prefix “meta” means.
When I copy pasted the link, I missed the last character, resulting in some strange german link, hehe.
Thanks for the giver weapon tip, I’ll look into.
The healing turret is now my favorite healing skill. I used to run medkit, but since the patch, it seems to me that the turret is more adapted to my playstyle. Deploying the turret heals for about 2500, reactivating it gives another 2500, cleanse 2 conditions, gives regen. Immediately destroying it heals for about 1500. Then, activating F1 gives more regen and immediately using shield skill (4) within 1 second upon activating F1 gives you 1500 health again. This specific combo gives you 8000 health very quickly (it takes about 3 seconds to perform) + about 1000 regen for a total of over 9000 life back, every 20 seconds. Very strong, but hard to perform because it takes timing.
Gadlyn Euler (Engie), Sylvelf (Necro)
Bukke (Mesmer), Luna Constantine (Ranger)
Hehe I found it quite the odd website to link to yeah!
The new healing Turret does indeed look very intrestring, and if you got the timing/reflexes , it should be quite powerfull! Working on a concept idea with that Turret and a Elixir Gun, but still in the works!
Keep in mind that the Overcharge leaves a 3 second Water Field, which means you can sit with your Shield skill 4 for it’s full duration, and then press it for the blast finisher, could have dished out some extra damage on the ranger in the video ect? (from the reflection)
Also, I do still think medkit is better suited for in most of my builds, mostly because I often have 15 points in tools, so it recharges my heal at 25%, it’s a bit more easy and clean to use, and with all my LOS abusing and kiting I simply love my drop medkits! Also I feel in a 1vsMany I don’t have the time to use the Turret’s full potenial, because I’m so busy don’t other things!
When that is said tho, I really think the Turret got a lot of pontial after last patch, and I’m sure we will see a lot more to now in WvW and sPvP (and it’s amazing in PvE so far for me)
Bonus note: It’s quite strong, and probaly my to go in duels from now on, because I have more “control” over a 1vs1, then my usual 1vs many, so I feel I can used it’s potenial better there!
@Nakoda thanks for the tip!

Here goes another WvW roaming video! This is just some of the better videos I have gotten when I have some time for roaming around solo in WvW to relax, it’s nothing serious, but it’s some decent fight’s that’s very viewer friendly (at least I find it so!)
You can find the Video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8z9NI1NHCk
I use Confusion Bomb Build & Condition Grenadier Build in the video!
I have also begun on the Podcasting work now! Bas have plans on uploading the first Podcast for the SOAC (Sitting on a Couch) team! It’s going to be named Engenious and my Co – Host is Asteria Rose, whom you all can look forward to hear from as well!
The first Podcast will just be a casual talk where Bas interview Asteria Rose and me so you all can get to know us better! It’s the only one where Bas will be on, from now on it’s up o the two of us Hosts, and we will be trying to find some intrestring Engineer’s to get in and talk about the proffession with us!

nice vid man, fun fights :p
that rocket kick animation is half the reason you use it am I right? ^^
gl for your podcast!
engie roaming vids: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9NnXVfY4vRU1F-X7b1Oorw/videos
Bahaha yeah, I totally love that Rocket Kick Animation!
It’s soo amazing on an Asura!!! But also, the AoE Burning that apply as a “melee” hit, is really nice, in special vs people that use reflection!
Actually begun to love the Rocket Boots more and more as well the self CC is very annoying, and I do think it should be removed, but beside that, it’s an amazing tool, because often it’s Immobilze’s that kill me, the biggest being the Ranger Root Elite, which Rocket Boots fix, and it have actually saved me a lot of times now!
WvW Roaming movies!
My problem with rocket boots is that I play sPvP and useing rocket boots means very often flying 1 meter backwards and being doomed to die.
I would have to agree with you, on Rocket Boots being a two edged blade yeah! Often, using as you say, will mean it bugs and you don’t fly very far a way, and just doom you, and other times the self stun will last longer then some of the stuns you get hit by! =//
The core concept of the Rocket Boots is still solid tho, all it needed was a bugfix so you all ways fly backward, and that there is no self CC, that would be great! Also, Rocket Kick (the toolbelt skill), is amazing! so tha helps it up! =)
WvW Roaming movies!
They should just make it like EG #4 but break stun.
Hey there everyone! A long a waited update is now ready!!
I have been very very busy with: IRL, having Exam period and other IRL stuff, making podcasts for Sitting on a Couch (Go check Engenious and the other podcasts out, it’s awesome! http://sittingonacouch.com/category/gaming/)! Heck I even gotten myself a little kitten, now eating up time as well!
But anyway while I haven’t been busy with other stuff, I have found a little time, working on a new build, using the new Settler Jewels and now cheaper Apothecary armor! Which, I now have a little teaser off! Much more gameplay will hopefully get into videos in time!
I have also joined Judge Legends (JDGE), on Gandara, so there should be chances for group play videos some time in the futher as well!! Anyway, the build teaser video is up and running here!

Interesting. 1 note though: you barely use FT. Isn’t it better to get a set to kill faster like nades or bombs?
Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
Btw, huge fan You and SirKoroshi have inspired to level my engi again and I now play it often. I’m probably moving to Gandara soon too, to fight with you and Osicat
Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
Hey Amadeus,
What kind of Ascended gear would you recommend for this build? By the way, thanks for sharing another build and video. Keep up the good work.
-G
@Vinceftw – First, thanks for the kind words, so far Gandara is an amazing server, very friendly, so highly recommend it!
I’m testing the Flamethrower as utility in this build, I’m not 100% sold on it myself yet, but the blowback is really awesome, napalm wall can be very good vs melee people as well, and the 5th skill let’s me do some neat safe Stomps on 5 out of 8 proffesions! But maybe a bomb kit will be more usefull? But still in testing! Never really played Flamethrower, nor Elixir Gun much, so I need to train with them, I’m kind bad haha
@Grackleflint! Shareing is careing!
I would recommend Aprothecary, or Celestial! I’m personal saving up laurels for a Celestial set, because I really really would like to test out how well that works! The build as it is now, should probaly benifit quite well from all stats, at least in my heads theory! =)
WvW Roaming movies!
good stuff amadeus, I love it when they just keep comming at you like that, makes for some fun fights. and yea, I can tell you haven’t played eg/ft much before, alot of combo opportunities you were ignoring. or maybe you did it on purpose and I just ocd about combo fields whenever I have eg on :p
engie roaming vids: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9NnXVfY4vRU1F-X7b1Oorw/videos
@Maskaganda: I for sure need trainning with the Weapon Kits, it’s something very different from my usual playground haha In a 1vs1 it’s a lot easier to time the Combo Fields and Combo Finishers, but when I’m vs several enemies at once, it get’s really really hard! But so far I’m in total love with My Water Fields from Healing Turret (and it’s Tool Belt) + Acid Bomb! But it can for sure be hard to time most of the time!
So for now I will focus on getting done with the last Exam hehe, and train the build when I can, because I really think it got some neat potenial! =p
WvW Roaming movies!
A few questions:
1. The build video intro and website shows the leeching and smoldering sigils, yet in the combat portion of video the sigils were on-kill stacking sigils. I was wondering if you were using corruption or life sigils. I would assume corruption, but given the focus of the build on healing, life sigils would make sense.
2. I’m a bit confused by the condition duration numbers on this build. Are the givers pistols really worth it for this build? The build link says to use the rare veggie pizza, so I don’t know if the +20% from both pistols will really amount to that much. It’s some extra stats that you’d be missing out on with both givers. The pizza plus the traited +10% duration would give +50% duration to all conditions, which is a nice number. The givers pistols put it at +70%, which might not actually be giving extra damage ticks in most cases.
3. The sigil of smoldering seems a bit odd as well since it’s a small increase to one condition that’s being already extended by the pizza. I suppose its a choice based on nothing else really being needed there since you wouldn’t want a different sigil conflicting with the sigil of leeching and you already have a fair bit of burning on the build.
I’ve tried to make a similar build before, but found it was too frustrating to kill things with, even in PvE. This one looks like it’s better in that regard, although I’m a little worried it might not be as durable with the somewhat low HP. I guess that’s where the protection comes in.
EDIT: Also, it looks like you need a second bank XD
1. I run 2x Giver’s Pistol with Corruption actually, which I use to get 25 stacks first xD Then I swap to Leeching and Smoldering Pistols!! Actually didn’think much about it, but you are right in the video I am actually stacking Corrpution! Had them equipped because I thought I just should kill the NPC’s on the Isle, and thne got jumped :P When I swap to Leeching I do get a lot more tanky, because every 10th second I steal 975 Life from an enemy (pure damage, ignoring any sort of armor, which means I deal a pure 975 damage blow to the enemy as well)
2. I get 15% burning duration from forge runes, and 10% from smoldering, putting my burning on 95%, which means that Incendary Powder, Rocket Kick, and Blow Torch all get one more thick out of their duration! So that’s why I’m testinng that out atm, because burning is my main damage source in the build! Also, works wonders in PvE, since NPC’s don’t cleanse!! The rest of my conditions, beside posison, are just cover conditions for the burning mosto f the time.
3. Sigil of Smoldering is see above ^, but if you don’t like it, you can roll with Precision or Force as well! (or corrpution if you don’t do as me :P)
I don’t really feel like the low HP is such a big issue, mostly because I have so much protection uptime and a ton of healing! also the condition removal is acutally quite decent in the build, so I rather want Toughness over HP (But you can swap in some Shaman Armor for more HP if you feel it’s needed, Vit/ Condi/ Healing/!
hehe yeah I need a giant bank! With this new build I now have 8 full Exoitc Sets, and 11 Pistols I think? 3 Shields and 5 Rifles, for not talking about a ton of Jewels! :P

You kittens don’t even know what the prefix “meta” means.
Amadeus, thanks for sharing your ideas and experience! You really inspired me to once again try out an engineer. I failed two times before, because the engineer seems to be very weak at the beginning (compared to other professions). But then, one day, it was as if as switch turned on in my head and I was all in So much too explore and play around. Can’t wait to get to 80.
A disclaimer that nerfs have happend. I understand you cannot reshoot all your video’s and such, but something like the Confusion Bomb-build is utterly kitten. Confusion has had its damage slashed in half in WvW.
Aswell as a bunch of other things ive noticed in your video’s that gave you an edge, or saved your skin, are no longer possible or much weaker. Like the time you beat a Thief with a Drop Bandage you used while under the effect of Elixir S. Its no longer possible to equip a kit during Elixir S anymore.
Stuff like that. People, beware, builds as shown in the video’s might not perform anywhere close to that anymore on live.
@Woeye: Cheers you have fun with the Engineer again! It can be a tough road to 80, but it’s worth it! it’s a blast to play at max level!
@Terrahero: Confusion Bomb build is still super fun to play, and I still use it Yes, it can’t instant kill people in 2-3 seconds as I could before, but noobs will stille die, now just in 5-6 seconds, and it have gotten stronger vs good players, since now they actually dare to take a little damage every now and then!
Also, it is true the builds ain’t exactly the same anymore, but in general they all work somewhat the same and are quite balanced and fun to play in WvW, I use them all every now and then Nerfs do afterall, not come only to us, and changes are constant made to others Proffessions, Thief as an example have lost a lot of their inital burst, so the example with Elixir S, now just means I don’t need it for it!
But yes, you are correct that changes have happened, but the builds do still perform close to what you see in the videos, beside Confusion Bomb build, which deals 50% less confusion damage, but is still quite playable (use it in some of the fights in this video after the nerf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8z9NI1NHCk)

I’ve tried the EG for the first time instead of the toolkit. I’m not sure if I like it. My previous build has toolkit traited, which I love for the block. It seems the stuff of the EG can’t match a ranged pull, followed by pry bar and a block. I will stay with my current build and a HGH build first. These are easier and I need that since I have only 80 hours on engineer or something.
Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
Interesting build and excellent play skills.
Edit: nevermind the question below. I missed that it had already been addressed a bit up the page.
I’m curious about the role of the flamethrower in the build, though. You used the tool belt skill but only switched into the kit a couple times, usually to AE blind when going for stomps. It seems like you probably would have gotten more out of Elixir S or the Tool Kit or some other good defensive tool for the fight you showed us.
Or do you normally use the Flamethrower more and it just didn’t end up playing much role in the fight you used for the teaser video?

Ah, I totally forgot about the duration from the forge runes.
I tried this build with some minor personal modifications in hotjoin sPvP. It worked out pretty well, although the rocket boots can be as unreliable as ever. I’m also a noob with the healing turret, but practice makes perfect, I guess.
I think next time I try this I’ll use a shield instead and see how it goes. I think a shield would work out nicely if doing WvW zerging. I was also thinking of trying the flame turret since it can provide the blind field and extra burning, but the flamethrower will probably be better.
@Vinceftw – Tool kit is really an amazing kit, and I actually miss it a lot in this build, I use tool kit for like 80% of my builds! But Elixir Gun bring a lot more use for the healing power stat in the gear setup, and elixir gun scales amazing with more friendly players, Acid Bomb is an amazing skill in combo with Healing turret :P But I do actually swap in Tool Kit every now and then, instead of rocket Boots hehe :P
@Stice: I’m still testing if I like the Flamethrower or not in the build, the 3, 4 and 5th skill are all awesome, and the tool belt skill is decent, but I have no need for skill 1 or 2, unless I’m in a larger fight!! That said, a Cone Knockback is really good vs many types of enemies, and only get’s better when vs more enemies, a 10 sec Fire Field is amazing when doing group play for might stacking, and a AoE blind is all ways handy! =) But I do use it more as an Utility Kit, then I use it as a damage kit, so some fights it’s out more then this, but most of the time it is only used ofr utility!
@Yamsandjams: Hehe it happens! Not a rune that see much play either, but been wanting to try it out for a long time!
But glad to hear you had fun testing it in sPvP, I think it works quite decent for me in there! If you don’t like Rocket Boots, then swap it out for whatever you like, the spot is open! I just love Rocket Kicks AoE melee Burning (goes trough all those annoying reflections), and that it can get me out of Immobilse from Ranger Elite ect.
I do Recommend Elixir R, Tool Kit, a Turret, or even toss Mine (I swap around with these all the time, depending on my mood and what I’m doing) and all works quite good!
Go with a Shield when in a group or doing zerg vs Zerg, I do that as well! I just prefer my off hand pistol when solo roaming!

I had a very similar set of gear gathering dust, so I tried the build out in pve. I have to say it is a blast to play. The trait set up is very nice, and the combination of the pistols with FT and EG is fantastic. Also, the amount of Cripple and Immobilization along with EG #4 allowed me kite a Champion level NPC to death.
The most important Thing at first: I really love your Videos
Now 2 Little notes:
1. In the “Condition Grenadier” build there is something missing in the Tools trait. You’ve put 20 Points in there but only Power Wrench equipped.
2. I don’t get why you want to have 90% condition. Bleeding and burning are only ticking evry second, so it’s for skills with 2,3,4,5,6 seconds 90% more is 3,8 5,7 7,6 9,5 and 11,4 seconds. WIth 10 less condition Duration you’ll be at 3,6 5,4 7,2 9 and 10,8. So for bleeding and burning there’s no advantage. Or am i getting someting wrong with conditions?

In general, you are correct, although for conditions that stack in duration I believe it can still benefit if multiple stacks are applied.
For instance, let’s say you have +25% condition duration, and you apply a 2 second burn. This would inflict a 2.5 second burn, which should only tick twice, thus the condition duration would be wasted. However, if you applied another 2 second burn just after the first burn, it would also be applied for 2.5 seconds with the duration boost. Since burning stacks in duration, this would make a 5 second burn, and thus you would gain one extra tick with the condition duration.
The 50% (or 100% if you’re going for high values) threshold is usually a good target because it will guarantee and extra tick for any condition that is applied for an even numbered duration. For engineer, this involves the 2 second bleed stacks from explosive shot, the 2 second poison stacks from poison dart volley, and the 2 second stacks from blowtorch, to name a few. You can aim for numbers in the middle, but it may not guarantee extra ticks unless you are able to stack the duration enough.
You can also take into account your allies as well, since you conditions will stack duration with their conditions.
So while the numbers are perhaps not completely optimized, it will likely work out fine with this build, especially since it has multiple sources of burning that it can stack at once, which seems to be the primary condition here.
@Grackelflint: Awesome that you had fun with it in PvE! Haven’t had much time to test it out in PvE, but I have felt like it would be a decent and at least very fun build to use there!
@Becks I have fixed the link now, it’s good old Speedy Kits that’s the first Trait!
To the second question, what Yamsandjams hold true, but there is actually another 2 reasons.
The other is, for a long time, and I think it still holds true, will a condition if it last for say 2,75 second, still give the last thick, you saw a lot of the HGH Engineer use this tactic with the old Incendary Powder, running 40% duraiton, and still getting the third thick! so the new Incendary Powdet will with 90% duration as an example also give me 8 thick’s, and not 7, You are right that Blowtorch and Rocket kick won’t get it’s max duration, but it will still be 9 second from Rocket Kick and 11 seconds from Blowtorch, which is more then enough, because I got 3 different Burning applying, so before the duration will run out, I can just apply the next, and the Cooldowns being 10, 12 and 16, means I will all ways have burning up, unless they cleanse it, which means the Duration wouldn’t have helpt either
The second reason is, for the rest of my conditions in that build, the durations is absurd long, even with only 90% duration! Sharpnel Grenades will give 23 thicks, I will have a very easy permanet uptime of posison, the Poison Volley will be able to do it for it self, but with posion grenade I see up to 1-2 min posion duration when I hit Ace! Any more duration just seems like an over kill anyway, because just tossing Sharpnel Grenade once, will deal 7k – 8k (depending on stacks), over the next 23 seconds if they don’t use a removal! =) So either they remove, or they die, 1-2 seconds from or to ain’t a big deal ^^
I won’t use Auto attack from pistol much, and all the other conditions in the build, Confusion, Blind, Chilled, Crippled and Vulnerbillity, won’t the extra 10% duration make much of a difference!
Also, only going with 90% duration means I can go with Runes of the undead, which in this build gives me 1267 condition power, instead of 995 which I have if I run with more condition duration runes:! So the damage output is a lot better when you build it that way!

Hello,
first, thanks for this enlightening post !
I am however a bit confused by the rounding applied on condition duration.
From the official wiki I got: “The duration of conditions is rounded to nearest quarter second, which is reflected in the skill tooltip”. To me this would mean that for pistol 1 for exemple, we got 2 secs bleed * 1,9 (asssuming +90% condi duration) = 3.8 seconds, thus resulting in 3 ticks instead of four, as normally the ticks are rounded to the nearest quarter second (nothing is said regarding whether this is always rounded up).
Following the incenduary powder exemple, shouldn’t we have also 4*1.9 = 7.6 rounded to the nearest quarter second which is 7.5, so we should have 7 ticks based on the wiki, no ?
I think I need to perform some testing, now I am at work, so I cannot :-)
Anyway, thanks again for the tips, undead runes seems much more appealing now !
Okay, here we go with a new roaming build using my The Condition Apothecary after the last patch! A neat little patch! Like it so far, but you can hear a lot more about what my feelings about it right here:
http://sittingonacouch.com/guild-wars-2-engineer-podcast-engineous-episode-6/
But overall have all my many builds been buffed last patch, so that’s neat!
So anyway, first of, here is the video:
http://youtu.be/NSs0PlKm-mY
It’s mostly just a little show of, how much damage you potenial can recover/soak off, from some fights I enjoyed! I really like this build, and it’s growing more and more to me, when I have time to play it!
But anyway, I have vaction now, so gonna do a lot of different things, but I will see if more videos will be coming out over the summer! I do hope so, and they will probaly be from group roaming and guild action!
Beside that, I might make a few DC Univers Online videos over the summer, because I’m slacking it with Markus Valadir and my brothers when we feel like it, nothing big or serious ^^
Also, there might come a little Gadget Focused build out soon, just for the fun of it!

Is the build the same as pre-patch?
Nice. I’m worn out just watching!
Decent I guess but what do I do when there’s a good player?
@Yamsandjams it is the exact same build yes! The only thing new is waht the patch noted brought, which was amazing for the build setup! a better stunbreak and more mobility, and shorter CD on a blast finisher! yes please!
@Soon, hehe thank you!
@Ukuni, I’m gonna take your bait!
First off, when is someone a good player? my personal definition of a good player is one that know the basic about the game, know the basic about other proffesions, knows how to build a gear loadout and know most of what he needs to know about his own proffesion!
now, thats really hard to check when you meet people in WvW! But I think that pretty much all of them in this video was “good” players, the Mesmer and Guardien ran a burst combo, which would nuke most solo players in seconds, but couldn’t get all the way trough my builds defence! The Ranger and Guardien, in speciel the guardien, played a very nice tag team together, and hence I had to seperate them to win! The 3vs1 fight we might discuss how good they was, personally I think the Warrior did his jop quite well, many good stuns and he tried ress the rest all the time!
But again? when are they good? hard to define? In speical when it’s 1vs2 or 1vs3, or even more. Because humans in general, when in superior numbers then the enemy, will underestimate their enemy, which is something I abuse all I can!
It will often give me the edge in the start of the match! You probaly do it yourself when you roam with a friend or two, and run into a single roamer, underestimate them! I know I do!
But if it’s truely a very good player, then you can max win a 1vs2 against two good players if you get the jump on them and they underestimate you! But usually I gues it’s 1vs1 (where this build is very powerfull), that you can do vs a player on the same skill level as yourself But in my honest opinion, you can’t calculate a persons skill level very well, after only one fight, that ain’t a 1vs1! To many situonal Parameters to calculate it!

If I stuck with just one class for WvW, I doubt I would be even half as good with you. Your damage might not be great but your substain is amazing. I can’t wait to see more. Very entertaining.
One question, that music, you trolling us with it right, no way a real person could be listening to whatever that is!
