Engineer least played class?
If this is true, I love it. I love playing the under-represented class!

I haven’t looked at anything recent, but at least as of ~ one month after release, Mesmer was the least played class, followed by Necromancer, then Engineer, according to a census.
For the toast!
I would say it’s between engineer and necromancer for the lowest. At least for the WvW classes I regularly run into. Mesmers have probably gone up and rangers have probably gone down from that census.
Never underestimate an engineer with a wrench
Exploding illusions FTW

I think you’re seeing a lot more Necromancers in PvE as people see the viability of power dagger+warhorn necros for world content. My necro has been leveling in open world PvE at a pace that exceeds any other class I’ve tried but Warrior.
yep mostly because about 60% of our stuff doesn’t work right right now.
That’s the real reason behind it.
I know people will come on here saying, “NAH broham it’s not like dat yo we’s perfectly fine dude no prob” but seriously there’s a list of bugs and fixes on here that’s multiple pages long for a reason….yeah

Ahaha…..AHAHAHAHA
No.
Warriors/guardians will always be the most played class reason being most people like the concept of charging into everything while doing high dmg/having high health/armor

definitely not LOL
The least played class has always been engineer because none of the bugs save the underwater ones were even considered.
And all the while that was being ignored the only viable means of doing any decent damage was nerfed into the ground for pvp which in turn affected pve(i’m still not sure if they actually separated the coding between pve and pvp yet). So we’re stuck with let’s see…..(goes down the list of kits) AH the toolkit. Yeah because that does so much damage now.
It’s just that when you have classes in the game that are almost never nerfed (warriors) , that can prepare and 1 shot mobs as well as players (warrior/thief) then you have to wonder, why don’t the rest of the classes have that option when they are specced for burst dps? hmm?
Engineer never was, and when we actually had the niche of playing cond damage builds it was enjoyable but they took that away too because people were like “they’re op they’re op!” (what’s funny is the very people who were complaining were the thieves and the warriors. who now one and two shot everything in the game)
All us engis are asking for is a little balance. If they can do it so should we. Why can’t I do a couple of buffs and throw three grenades completely killing something instantly before it can react? isn’t that what happens in real life? and isn’t that what those two other classes are allowed to do, have been for months now?

Looks like I got engineer and necromancer reversed. Shame on me. Mesmer was still the least played class at the time.

That makes me want to play it more. Once they fix the phantasm miss bugs that class will be fine, and it’s easily one of the most interesting mechanics I’ve tried in a mmo. It is like turning a thief inside out.
By the way: even with minion problems the necromancer is an amazing class to play. Seems simple, but is actually a very complex and subtle class. Very close to being done, too. They could use some traint amps and their axe skills need improvement.

Those are from early september. I do dungeon runs daily and I see more mesmers than engies

Engi is hard to handle compare to other classes. Ppl feel weak when thief with BS can hit around 100 times harder. But engi is fun thats why I playing him. Players what choose classes because they are OP are pathetic.

Oh I agree, just some of us would like to either not be support, or not be bullets only. The rest just doesn’t work. Even the bomb kit has a bug right now so we can’t trait for that either to get bigger explosions SIGH. it’s ridonkulous.
Some of us would even like to have a Gardening Kit that shoots flowers, rainbows and green little Asuras. Oh wait, why not make that an Legendary Kit that can be crafted?
Mesmer and Thiefs seem to dislike my grenades … hiding, lying flat, vomiting and than shortly after being dead all over the place.
I love my Engineer and play him way more then my Mesmer or Ele right now so I couldn’t care less. Took a time to even being tempted to play an Engineer at all, but I’m gald I did.
Ah yes, and for numbers:
The last WvW-Event we did with an allying guild had about 70 participants
but only five of them were Engineers including myself.

Engineer is by far the least played class in my guild. It was Mesmer but now everyone is rolling one for wvwvw
GoF Commander
Engineer is so much fun. Somehow it feels like a more diverse class than any other. Just because you have so many things that can work togheter.
Turrets are fun also. But sadly in dungeons they get destroyed to quickly.
Mesmer is the least played class? Seriously, go around any LA Overflow and you’d see two mesmers before seeing 1 engineer. Engineer is the least played class followed by Necros (which is steadily rising in numbers). As soon as the class is fixed especially the tool kits and sigils, expect more people to start rolling an engineer. kitten I hate bandwagon people.

I find it really hard to enjoy other professions because I’m used to having a lot of utility built in. That and I love the rifle.

Highlighted the pertinent parts for those of us who don’t have the best reading comprehension skills.

…. And that’s why you can’t spit without hitting a mesmer now. Things change, sometimes quickly. A perception of being an “OP” class, or a string of buffs and / or nerfs can make for a lot of bandwagon re-rolls.
Or, you get folks like me who actually seek out the least-played classes. I started with Mesmer but in the past two weeks I’ve made an engineer and a necro. Still trying to determine which I like better.
Mesmers seem to have become quite popular class, the least played would be either engineer or necro.

I think a lot of people here forget what a big playerbase GW2 has. Mesmers are very tedious to level past 40 right now (right around L20 it feels like you’re dragging yourself across a beach with your eyelids). So I think a lot of the casual PvE crowd doesn’t use them.
In the more dedicated circles, you see more mesmers because they’re a great class once you get them out of their awkward adolescence.
No idea what it is now but near release it was mesmers that were the least played, by a long shot too.
It makes sense though. Most character play time comes from pve and mesmers are a pain to level. In pvp you see a lot more because they are so good but they count for less of the player base.
