I am a level 50 Engineer right now, at level 80, I want to use a Flamethrower as my main weapon.

Just a question:

Should I spec for condition damage or raw damage with Flamethrowers?

flamethrower is really not that great of a weapon and you’re hurting yourself by using it.

But if you insist, spec power damage. Power scales MUCH better, and the FT only applies one condition anyway so power is a lot better.

crit chance> power>conition>crit damage.

FT is a proc monster and you need to feed into the procs you can abuse ( low/ no icd on crit procs)

After that FT is mostly power attacks and a never ending burn stack.

I noticed that Engineers Firearm minor trait can apply bleeding too, which is necessary for FT, so it shouldn’t just apply one DoT condition.

So whats would be the difference between 0 power vs. max power with Flamethrower?

I use full knights equipment with the flamethrower, so toughness>power>precision. You don’t need any condition damage at all since burning doesn’t scale that well and you get sufficient condition damage just from stacking might.

Interesting. Since +condition damage is useless for burning, I was wondering how well Condition Damage scales with bleeds?

I was thinking maybe have dual Sigil of Earth for more DoT DPS.

Burning gets 25% of condition damage per tick (tick is every second), so +1000 condition damage adds 250 per tick.

Bleeds get 5% of condition damage per second so +1000 condition damage adds 50 damage per tick to a bleed.

It’s not that burning does not scale well per se, it’s actually the best single condition for damage (though more then 5 bleeds and bleed is better). It’s that conditions in general scale very poorly and have severe stacking issues in groups so making a condition build is almost always a bad idea (even pistol, the “condition” weapon, scales better with power).
