Having a hard time coming up with a useful spec, anyone here with experience share theirs?

Like a spec for Dungeons\Fractals. Thank you,

I wanted to feel useful so I went supporty. Mostly there are two kinds of support: boons and heals.

While I went for heals (even though people repeatedly say it’s terrible, I like it) I also buff quite some with the use of my Elixers.

My build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqelIqSXHvyuF17ISoHSohJYgUoX5lIFPGkB

There is a lot based on my personal preferences, but let me elaborate anyway:

- Rifled Barrels is there because I like to stay out of range, supporting from afar, throwing down some Water Combo Fields in conjuction with a Blast finisher to heal the ranged people. I support the melee by either using my Super Elixir from the Elixir Gun and/or the Supply Crate. It really depends on what the group needs.
- Hair Trigger: I use a Pistol, switch back to it from my Elixir Gun whenever I burned all the cooldowns so a reduced CD on the Pistol abilities to me is a good choice.

- Energized Armor: I have Toughness/Pow/Heal gear to be beefy, but I still want to deal decent damage so that’s where this comes in.
- Reinforced Shield: I use a shield as well, and I LOVE IT! The Blast Finisher is great (among the other abilities) a reduced CD makes sense to me + even more toughness with makes me beefier and a higher damage output (see Energize Armor)
- Elite Supplies: I use this as my Elite so it makes sense to trait it.

- Fast Acting Elixirs: I use Elixirs next to my Elixir Gun for the most part so this, again, was a no brainer for me.
- Potent Elixirs: Ditto for Fast Acting Elixirs.

Gearwise, as I said I use Pow/Tough/Healing gear, but with the Altruism Runes. These allow me to buff myself and my party whenever I use a heal. Love it! Check them out if you wanna support!

As you see a lot is based on what I like and that is exactly how you should play in my opinion. A lot is also situational, if the situation calls for condition removal (I don’t have much Vitality so I’m weak to it) then I’ll get out my Elixir C and some Traits to assist with it (Cleaning Formula 409). If an encounter is a lot about huddling up or a CQ situation I’ll get my bombs out and trait accordingly.

Same with my Utilities: while the Elixir Gun is always there, the Elixirs are swapped out for whatever the situation calls for, sometimes I even get a Net Turret out or the Bomb Kit.

Please let us know what you like and we can help you out.

This is my personal build for PvE: Balanced Power build

The build focuses on power/precision /toughness and crit damage. Why those? Because condition damage does not work well in PvE and the most of the conditions that benefit the party do not need condition damage to work well (i.e. Vulnerability, weakness, poison, etc…). The toughness in combination with Protection, grants the user passive 66% damage reduction.

All in all the build is pretty straight forward in use: bombs and ‘nades to blow stuff up, using each respectively in range-appropriate situations. You can swap out elixir U, but I have it their for party support with walls. In all honesty though, if you want to do damage just use full berserker’s, but this build, imo, gives me a lot of flexibility to run any type of spec I would like, with minimal consequences; maybe for you as well.

You mau want to try a standard build until applying variations.
Check my post (the second one). https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Anyone-can-suggest-a-PvE-Rifle-build

I bounce back n’ forth between grenades and FT, both always complemented by EG. I find EG too useful to not include in any PvE build. Especially when rocking FT, due to trait crossover. I have 6/6 Runes of Altruism for further group support.

I’m planning on getting a full healing/support gear set together and trying a heal bomb/EG/HT blast finishing build a la https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/PVE-BUILD-TANKY-HEALY-CONDI-ENGI/first#post2086359

Pretty much what I’m doing, though I don’t have the bombs out by default, only when the situation calls for it. Love me some blast finishers!
