It’d be nice to dust off the FT for more than just bag tagging in WvW zergs again. The utility is nice. The damage boost to the wrench/prybar is welcome albeit confusing, as it already packed quite the wallop comparatively.

Analyse already fits rather nicely with static discharge, so why not?

Also, the reddit post missed something else with flamethrower: Napalm will now do damage on tick, rather than just apply burning.

you should be careful with that statement.

Anet might pull a fast one and nerf the class by calling it a bug fix.

blind fix – nerf for warriors while they were buffing warrriors during the worse class in the game days…..

ileap fix – nerf for mesmers

Seems overall nice. I have only a couple issues. Napalm inflicting damage also means it will trigger retaliation – and we can’t cancel it, unlike the autoattack. Could easily backfire on us.
And AED…the change is nice, but i still think its main problem is in the opportunity cost caused by the threshold mechanic – since you could use another healing skill multiple times instead of having to wait for the chance of using AED with the threshold.

it’s just a preview.

But toolkit, ft and rocket turret buffs makes my roaming builds more viable after that.
Need to see now other classes changes to know for sure that it’s balancing and not buffing everyone.

Oooooh Something vicious came to my mind…
Engis now have their niche in zergplay: we kitten up their veils.
The reveal we get from analyze is applied to ANY enemy, so targeting one random player in a zerg and putting reveal on him shortly before they veil completely exposes the rest of the zergs movement^^
We are the anti-veil now xD

Bonus for gvg’s and we know their commander even before the fight beginns^^

In most parts of the game, yes. But for PvE its -hopefully – a viable 10sec DOT we can put under the boss.

Seems like some nice positive changes for us. And once again seems like dev encourage us to try and play with skills we usually dont use a lot. Altough i dont like the exploding turret nerf, i must admit that once again devs are probably right. This trait is for a minor trait OP..

I can tell you rocket turret is already pretty powerfull, and is even getting buffed so try using it.

It might depending on the FT dps after this changes.

stacking vuln is something we do good, BUT, its not all we can do, this will allow FT better blasts in combat. other classes can bring vuln too.

Tbh, im most pleased about Elixer X, this means if you sit inside a boss with elite supplies nado, you will do ALOT of vuln and damage, its great. love it!

Ill prolly be running an Elixer X build in openworld just for funzies maybe even in dungeons with some friends.

You should try tk with power wrench right now, you’’ll see you’ll still have trouble getting into melee fights with almost any class, except maybe some rangers and necros. Perma cripple looks powerful at first glance but without gap closers it helps only so much.

I think I saw someone say FT will actually be somewhere between bombs and nades, but only before the vuln stacking.

So as long as engi is the greatest and bestest source of vuln in the party, explosives still lead the meta… but if that ever changes (like for example, if Necromancers get buff in their support ability, since the right DS build can also be pretty good at stacking vuln, they are just terrible at doing anything else for the group) FT should be a good alternative build when vuln stacks are covered by someone else.

with the revealed on analyse, coupled with the base skill giving blindness immunity, Utility Goggles is about as anti-Thief and PU mesmer as you can get in a single skill.

This, along with AED cleansing damage condis and the Power Wrench/Tool Kit change has seriously made me thing of doing a gadget build for PvP. AED, Rocket Boots, Utility Goggles and Tool Kit. Only thing I’m not sure about is which two I want between Static Discharge, Speedy Gadgets and/or Gadgeteer.

you have to give up 1/2 of the traits that allow you to duke it out with melees to take the trait.

I’m always in favor of buffing up the weaker stuff rather than nerfing the good stuff. These changes look like they do just that. My biggest complaint with Rocket Turret will be fixed, gadget builds and FT builds get needed buffs as well. Lowering the turret knockback will hopefully stop making people cry about us without really hindering what a turret enginner does.

Even Elixir X got some love! Not enough to change when I will or won’t use it, but now at least when I do use it it will be less frustrating. Excited to play the changes.

FT without Deadly Mixture is not a good idea. When you’re using it just as a utility for the blind/field, sure, but with Juggernaut clearly you’re trying to use it a lot?

In dungeons you stack against a corner or wall most of the time, so hitting with Flamethrower #4 won’t be too hard.
From your screenshot you can see he has about 550 condition damage and 200% crit damage, do we know how much Power he had?

We can’t be really sure as the stats are not shown, but as Karl stated that he was using the same trait setup/gear for most of the video we can look at the Flame Blast damage to estimate Napalm’s power coefficient:
1.75 × 192/3257 = 0.1
Hardly anything to write home about in terms of damage, but it will proc sigils/traits/food and unfortunately also retaliation.

Lots of engi builds already anti thief.

the difference being you can run away from most builds if you screw up, a static discharge engineer will just magnet and 1 shot, assuming your unaware he is there, you could just as easily do the same to him if you see him first.

You can run EG/FT even more so now since they are op as crap in trait synergy.

And I love the fact that you can FT4→EG4→FT2 and you get 2 dot on the gound, and 2 blasts on the fire field. it will be ALOT of damage.

technically if you have reduced cds then you can get easily get 3 blasts on the fire field 4 if you try really hard

If flame blast deals 3.2k dmg and napalm deals 182 dmg per second over 10 seconds, that means it deals 1.8k dmg over 10 seconds, compared to flame blast which deals almost twice that but can be reused in those 10 seconds?

Awful. Just… awful…

On the bright side, it could be useful for proccing Skale Venom, Vulnerability, and event-mob tagging…

My ideas:
Flame blast: 5 targets are hit.
Napalm: Turn it into an AOE field with a lot more damage so the recharge time of 30s is worth it.

I really love the flamethrower/tool kit/bomb kit. Love them to death. Quite literally because I’m trying to figure out how I can ditch the elixir gun and pick back up my flamethrower for sPVP.

How’s this build looking like? The lack of a stun breaker is frightening.

I think I shouldn’t go for Juggernaut but its such a nice thing to use. I’m spread too thin on talents.
