I heard quite a lot from people that Engineer is useless profession both in dungeon, fractal or even raid, which pretty saddening that considering Engineer is one of my favorite profession and it looks pretty cool but most of the skills are meh, so here are the suggestions that will helps Engineer to be useful again,
Pistol 3rd skill changed to : Hail of Bullets - Fires three consecutive cones of bullets. The second cone being the most damaging(only when using dual pistol), and move original 3rd skill of pistol to 2nd. 15 seconds cooldown. this skill is taken from Zane and Kernan in Forsaken Thicket
Flamethrower 5th Skill changed tol : Flak Shots Fire a fiery flak shot, Flak Shot deposits fire fields on the ground which give a stack of burning per pulse to foes standing in them and stack of might to allies per pulse, 10 pulses and come with 3 charges with 1 second cooldown in between(just like Mesmer’s mantra but without initial casting time) 60 Seconds cooldown. taken from Sabetha and Narella

feel free to add your own suggestion(if any) of rework for Engineer.

Anet seem to want engi pistol to be a hybrid weapon. With that in mind, you should add some conditions to the skill you suggested. And it would be nice to keep the poison (even if the pistol 2 skill is really unreliable).

And the flamethrower idea: you could add the might stacking to flamethrower 4 which already is a fire field. Why should we have 2 burning applying fire fields on the same kit? Better keep the blind on 5 which is instacast and add something to napalm.

The weapons that need the most improvement are shield and rifle right now. Shield could use some cd reduction, the traited protection should start after the skill finished it’s cast.
Rifle:. Maybe increase the damage of the AA, making the net shot a self aimed AoE, which shoots the net at a selected area and rooting EVERY enemy in it instead of just 1 and with that miserable travelling time.

I don’t want to insult anyone here, but those must be some weird people that told you that. o.O

  • Engi is good-masterrace in dungeons, depending on the dungeon.
  • For Fractals, he’s absolute masterrace, no question in that.
  • For Raids, there are specific situations where Engis shine and while still being over average on every single encounter, the Ele meta is unbeatable.

Some small skill changes won’t change that, since it’s not our lack of damage, rather the lack of a group wide buff that makes us a solid pick. Check this thread out, it would immediately fix the problem Engis have nowdays:

Oh i forgot about that, it should apply stacks of bleeding, about the 4th skill it just comes to my mind that it should be reworked too because the fire field in 4th were just too small that sometimes it’s a hit and miss when i try to use blast finisher with flamethrower 2nd skill, replace that with fiery vertical line( like that mordrem sniper use) but not a fire field if that possible, thing is the new skill effect added in HoT is such a high quality while the effect the skill our character produce is in such low quality, i want a rework in term of the skill while also reworking its effect. just my 2 cents

those come from my guildies and also player in map chat said that they never want to take an engineer, a ranger and a necromancer in a group if possible, engineer is still good in pvp but in pve, engineer damage output is laughable and whenever one is in our dungeon group, engineer usually die first, thats why i think some engineer skills need to be reworked or even a little buff to some specializations

I really don’t know what kinda engies you’ve been hanging out with, but I suggest you make one and get it to 80 and see for yourself what this class does in small scale PVE content.

No hard feelings but these people are either trolls or just new and inexpirienced players.

Engineer has the 3rd highest single target dps, the 2nd highest aoe dps and the highest condi dps in the entire game. I wouldn’t call that “laughable dps” at all… o.รด
Engineers are only very hard to play, therefore it’s just natural you see more bad ones than good ones. Yet this is not an issue of the profeesion, rather the performer.

About Rangers or rather Druids: 1 Druid is meta everywhere but dungeons. In raids you even want 2 of them, since their buffs are so amazing (not talking about the heal here!). All record runs have 2 Rangers, I don’t think that would be the case if they were so bad.

Necros are masterrace in 50+ fractals. No denying that. There are many bosses no other profession will outdamage them. In raids they are amazing under specific circumstances, especially wing 2. For dungeons they are below average.
