Mesmer Personality Quiz! Exclamation Points!
Hey guys, I’ve only checked the first two pages so sorry if this is a redundant post.. I was wondering if anyone could post a few different popular engineer builds (power/condition variants) and a few tips for fighting against them?
Engineer seems like one of those classes where you either get it or you don’t. I’ve faced some dismal Engineers before, but against a particularly skilled one I have no idea what’s going on. I don’t understand engineer healing or damage and would like to learn more by studying some builds.
Eventually I’ll get around to rolling one myself, it’s my third favorite class besides Mesmer and Elementalist, but right now all my slots are taken up and I spend 98% of time working on Mesmer specs (the other 2 on staff Ele) so if anyone is willing to help out, it’d be much appreciated.
The biggest problem you’ll probably run into is the fact that most engineers will be running their own build. It may be similar to a lot of other builds, but they’ll all have their quirks.
The most “common” ones that I can think of are
HGH, a heavy mightstacking build. Has two main “Variants”, Prybar and Nades.
Prybar: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqalspicnuSfF1LJSoC4HoC5loHPGlNZfUwWPIA-TkAAzEBp0xpjJIZO2cGiMXA
Nades: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqalspiYnuSfF17ICoC5loHPGlNZfewWPIEC-TkAAzEBp0xpjJIZO2cGiMXA
Both of these builds can swap 2 might duration runes for 2x Altruism, or swap all 6 for Noble in wvw. Shield also works in these builds.
Played by rotating through the elixirs to stack might, and dealing heavy condition damage.
SD, A high-damage, burst build.

This build has quite a few options for changes. Speedy Kits/Power Wrench can easily be swapped out for whatever’s prefered in their slot. Mine/nades can be swapped for Utility Goggles/Rifle Turret.
3-4 Kit – So much variation. I play 3 kit build, so I post my build for this one. There’s not really a “set” build for it.

Nade/Bomb – A build I’m not very familiar with. If you look around for Ostrich Egg’s gameplay, I’m fairly sure this is the build he plays.
Chaith’s power control:

Healing bombs – Very tanky, lots of regen, heals, etc.

Can drop speedy kits or automated response to grab the bomb radius trait pretty easily.

All of these (Excl. Chaith’s + Nade/Bomb) are my takes on the builds. Like I said, they have lots of different variations, and I wouldn’t expect to run into any engineers running these exact setups, except maybe HGH nades, which is pretty much set in stone due to the way its traits work.
Put them in pvp mode because pve is not my area of expertise, and wvw has way too many possibilities.
If you have any questions about individual skill/trait functionality, feel free to PM me.
K U T M is absolutely correct. We have a few that feel there are right and wrong ways to run engineer builds, but the vast majority of the community mix it up quit a bit and blend things they like between congruent builds.
To be totally honest, there are probably at least double the amount of commonly used builds then mentioned above.

Easily.
