Hey guys, thought I’d share a build I’ve been thinking about for a little while now. I run WvW primarily in very small groups, normally with two of my friends, a warrior and a thief. They build with a focus on burst damage, so I thought I’d try to come up with a build that can help them unload their big skills like 100 blades and pistol whip easier; any advice or recommended changes are welcome!

The idea behind this build is to provide strong immobilization through Glue Shot and Glue Bomb along with vulnerability (thanks to Sitting Duck) to support your teammates. Super Speed and Slick Shoes should be used together when initiating a fight to ensure that Glue Bomb will land. Toss Elixir S can be used beforehand to sneak up on the enemy or ensure that any early CC skills used against you or your teammates are rendered useless. Elixir S can be used whenever you are put in a bad position or to safely stomp/revive downed foes/allies. Speedy Kits ensures that you have the mobility to initiate for your team and Invigorating Speed drastically improves your survivability. The primary stat for this build is obviously condition damage (reinforcing the strength of the dual pistol engineer being the only class that can reliably inflict all four damaging conditions at once), closely followed by vitality and toughness for indispensable survivability in a WvW environment. Any critique is welcomed!

I’m working on a similar-sounding build. Sitting Duck seems to be overpowered a bit right now due to Immobilize reapplying rather than stacking in duration as it should.

I haven’t tried it yet as I’m at work, but just got the idea that the AOE root that Avatar of Melandru (Human Elite) is capable of, might apply LOTS of Vuln in a big area with sitting duck, as Root seems to apply Immobilize repeatedly for a few seconds.

As to the purpose of the build I to catch and control opponents I’m not quite sure Glue is capable of doing that reliably enough. You’d have better luck with the Flamethrower CC, Rifle CC, and even Freeze Grenades. If however, the opponents simply need to be controlled and not caught then Bombs should work out alright.

Swiftness is often not enough to catch people though, because in WvW almost everyone has Swiftness up all the time. It’s more then enough in a surprise situation though, especially if you proc stealth.

Primary Weapon Choice doesn’t matter. P/S, P/P, or Rifle. All works nicely.

I use Accelerant Packed Turrets for the added CC of Knockdown and Knockback.

Gear is centered around P/V/T, with Sapphire and Emerald Exotic Jewelry.
