15th October Patch - Notes and Discussion
meh alot of these updates they did doesnt even effect my build anyway. so i dont care much ..maybe one day ill use meditations but untill then eh..
I do like that skills and buffs now target ur party members first tho because when im farming most of the time some of the classes im partied with dont have a long swiftness uptime so thats good ^^
Now the guardians really can become to whining. This “balance” patch is lame to guardians, compared to the other classes.
The guardian is just nerfed in every patch. Why? In every patch all other classes are buffed and the guardian remain the same.
We only get 2 real buffs on this patch: Purging Flames and Hallowed Ground (wich was useless, now I’ll test to see). Everything else is just bug/skill fact fixes or useless/no significant difference.
purging flames woot woot, hallowed ground woot. consecrations ftw

About time teamplay is rewarded. No more poping stability and watch your partymembers getting cc:ed to death anyway.
RIP my guard and time to dust off my war.
its been 2.1k hour fun play time

I’ll finish to building up my war too. More options, and maybe even more support than guard. This is sad.
I would have traded the buff to both consecrations for the way Pure of Voice used to work…meh. Overall, meditations area little better, consecrations are a little better, tool tips are a little better, shouts are quite a bit less effective. The rest no one will even notice.
No gravy train for guardians this go round… maybe next year guys.
Healing Breeze will always be crap for pvp as long as it works in a lame cone. It channeling is fine but it should just heal everyone in a certain radius around you per tick. It could heal for 1 billion in its current form and I would still still never use it. A few interesting changes but really nothing all that great. I don’t see my build changing based on this.
Hear that? Its the sound of thousands of guardians being put on the shelf and the Warriors they have being pulled off and starting to gear them up… Hey arenanet you even care about this class? Do even 1 dev play it? When they said this would be a support spec patch I thought wooot mega guardian love…. lol.
Go watch the dev video from yesterday… Warrior part devs are super excited and into it! Guardian part… they were board and no excitement at all. Heck they didnt even know the symbol for one of the skills buffed… but they knew all of the buffed symbols for other classes… its so obvious after watching that video where guardians will be till gw2 ends….
I thought it was pretty well known that devs only play warriors since launch. Warriors have been the king of PvE for awhile, now it’s getting much stronger in the PvP realm.

My healing breeze tool tip displays same old healing value for allies. Now needs testing…
Farewell to the fairweather Guardians; we’ll keep the light on for you.
No more guardians abusing the broken pure of voice , yay!

I’m tempted to try out glacial heart in WvW.
Glacial heart no longer displays cooldown in tooltips. If it were every crit with no cooldown (like perplexity runes that didn’t get fixed BTW) I would love it lol.
Well i mean PoV was really one of the only effective ways to combat this crazy condition meta and now it has been nerfed.

So Right Handed Strength doesn’t affect off hand weapons? And glacial heart according to the trait tool tip is still a 50% chance to work on crit.

gg pov fix. now guardians suck balls

It was the no cooldown part i was getting at. Suppose I could have worded it better for those who don’t know better.
You’d think I’d be used to this kind of thing because I played a Ret Paladin for almost 5 years, but I’m not. Buff everything else every patch while we sit still. Small ops gets harder and harder every patch because the overbalanced builds just get stronger and stronger.
Changing the functionality of two consecrations means very little to most WvWers outside of fights over choke points and even less to PvEers. I can’t comment on sPvP, but I’m fairly certain medis and shouts far outshine any consecration build there as well. The only “good” things here are the FM and GH changes, and even those and minor at best.
I’ll never really reroll because I believe in perseverance, but I might actually start playing me Ele more often now. At least she can keep up with all of the condi Engis and condi-stacked group comps running around in WvW these days. Incredibly frustrating.

Possibly learn the game better? The problem is they’re without cooldown on interrupt, not that they’re on interrupt.
Maybe you’ll start running perplexity now that you know this quick little fact.
The biggest problem I see, at least as far as PvP goes, is that with the condi meta out there you will still get just wrecked by them if you don’t trait towards removal. This completely nullifies most of the buffs they gave guardian, I know meditations are good for damage builds but you can still be destroyed by conditions through the healing.
Purging Flames might reduce the duration by 20% but it has a cooldown and requires you to stay put, which allows condi classes which use mostly ranged attacks free reign to get away from you while continuing to pressure you while you sit there in your little circle.
Purging flames incorrectly displays -33% condition duration, instead of -20% in tool tips.
Glacial Heart still has internal cooldown although it no longer states one in tooltips.
Healing Breeze displays wrong (old) base ally heal.
Next Guardian patch: Major tooltip fixes! yay…

The problem is that the person I responded to implied something that wasn’t true. There is no ICD on the interrupt portion, but there IS one on the on-hit (fourth level) portion. Are you still with me? The difference here is probably ease of application, and on-crit would be even worse in this regard. Interrupt requires an agreement between you and your target, or you don’t get the effect.
I’ve been running Perplexity on my Thief for about two months now, thanks. That’s why I replied in the first place, lest the ignorance about the runes spread here, due to bad English.
Glacial Heart tooltip does indeed display the internal cooldown. It’s in the upper right like all skill cooldowns. It’s 30 seconds. Tested in the Mist. Still 30 seconds. The tooltip says 50% chance on crit, which is a lie. It’s still 100%.
Inscribed Removal doesn’t update Signet of Resolve. Or maybe it doesn’t work? Couldn’
Perfect Inscription updates Signet tooltips, however, the improvements are not listed in blue highlights like other improvements. Also, the tooltips for buff icons for Signets are not update for Signet of Judgement. It still says 10% reduction. The tooltip for for Signet of Resolve still says 1 condition every 10 seconds (no change).
Zealous Blade doesn’t update any of the GS tooltips. Similarly, Powerful Blades doesn’t update any Spear or Sword tooltips.
Writ of Persistence does not update tooltip for Symbol of Protection on Hammer. It also only adds 1 more second, instead of 2.
Shattered Aegis tooltip doesn’t say how many targets it affects.
Supreme Justice does not update the Virtue tooltips. Virtue of Justice’s tooltip and icon tooltip both still says “every fifth attack” (instead of fourth). Virtue of Justice’s tooltip still shows original burn durations (4 seconds instead of 5 seconds for active).
Absolute Resolution does not update heal amount for Virtue of Resolution. I also noticed Battle Presence’s tooltip shows the upgraded heal amount in the tooltip (same heal as Absolute Resolution). If this is intentional, then Absolute Resolution does not update the tooltip for Battle Presence.
Indomitable Courage does not update the Virtue tooltips. Virtue of Courage’s tooltip and icon tooltip both still says “every forty seconds” (instead of thirty).
Permeating Wrath does not update the Virtue tooltip. Virtue of Justicec still shows 4 second burn duration on active (instead of 1 seconds burn duration with 5 targets). Funny enough, Supreme Justice updates the tooltip for Permeating Wrath, though (showing 1.5 seconds).
Not sure if intentional, but Zealot’s Defense animation seems off. The “wall” that you produce is no longer in front of you. It’s off to the side.
Spirit Weapon Mastery doesn’t update the recharge times on Spirit Weapon tooltips. Wrathful spirits doesn’t update the damage on Spirit Weapon tooltips.
Master of Consecrations updates the tooltip for Sanctuary, but lists 8 second duration twice.

Look buddy, no one is trying to imply perplexity runes have anything to do with on crit applications. I was simply pointing out that the application of confusion they award without cooldown was not altered. I was not even seriously asking for chill on crit without cooldown. Get a hold of yourself man!

I know what your point was. You failed at expressing it clearly. That’s why I responded with a clarification, just in case someone reading along misunderstood what Perplexity actually does.

Regardless of the functionality, implied and misread are two different things. You’ve obviously misread. Granted his wording could have been read either way, its still on you to refrain from assuming he means it to be read improperly.
If you knew about perplexity, you knew about the issues with its confuse application. If you read into his post, knowing what the actual issues are with perplexity, you wouldn’t have come to the conclusion you did.

Seeing as how we both read the same post, I understood what he meant, and you didn’t, I’d have to say that the fault does not rest solely with him. See above.

Would it be fair to say that you were…wait for it… perplexed!? Mwahaha

No.
Anybody know the duration of the fury you get from using meditations when traited? Also, how much longer do buffs last if you use Hallowed Ground?

Yeah, tooltips does seem to be a bit off. absolute resolution displays healing per 3s and virtue of resolve is 1 dispalyed as per 1 sec. Also the numbers are wrong: displays 535(3s) but heals for 567(3s) in my setup.
The only 2 things i was looking foward turned out to be (surprise!) jokes.
Fury duration with FM is just nonexistant, could aswell delete it. 3 sec is just having fun of us for saying “Look, buffs for something that isn’t Warrior!”.
Glacial Hammer being turned in a on crit Hydromancy sigil would have been awesome. Whitout being overpowered. And yes, even with a ICD.
But 30 seconds? Really?
Salt on wound, looking at Warrior’s section and seeing Staggering Blow cast on move. Ring of Warding isn’t a War skill, so can wait i guess.
Also, it’s about time every CD from 4th to 9th slot on Guardians skillbars should be cut.
Why my 5th skill must always be in the 30 – 40 sec CD spectrum, when i don’t have 20 skills like and ele, and the War gets tops 25 – 30 on 5th skill?
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Granted his wording could have been read either way […]
In other words, you’re agreeing with me, except you can’t directly admit to it, since that would be backing down after going Tough Guy™ on the forums. I get it, bro. This is serious business.
You’d think I’d be used to this kind of thing because I played a Ret Paladin for almost 5 years, but I’m not..
So, that puts you at or around playing ret since launch? If so, kudo’s to you man because back then we sucked. Only the die hard people, or stubborn, played ret or tank spec

Now now, someone has to take the high road here….
Tell you what. Group hug on 3…2…1!
Just kidding. This is still a good thread reading the different takes on the patch. Agree?

Well three seconds is a joke I was hoping at least 5 seconds. Six months from now they will increase it to 5 seconds and that will supposedly be come big boost to the class.
Regarding the PoV fix, it’s not breaking the class. I mean, Quick Breathing on Warrior was also removing 2 conditions and they fixed that, too. Nerf? Hardly. It’s how it should be now.
Good update overall IMO.
this patch is a joke…. like someone said salt in the wounds….. buff everything else leave guards in the dust…..
Really the only area of the game that a guardian excels right now is that they are still the best center point bunker in rated pvp. Talk about pigeonholed.
1) So…all my meditations are instant cast and I got 3 seconds of fury on meditation casting. I guess that means my initial burst does more damage but that’s about all.
2) The utilities they updated are still pointless either due to the cooldown being too long or the skill just simply being a pile of kitten.
3)They updated the tool tips to tell me in more detail how useless or not useless all my skills are.
4) They lied about sorting out our support skills that weren’t really used very often cause looking at the very…very…very minor changes they made to them I still won’t be using them cause they’re still bloody awful.
5) They fixed Pure of Voice which is a nerf as far as I’m concerned because it was pretty much the only way a shout build could keep up with the condition Meta with any level of success.
6) I will not be rolling a Warrior but instead I shall go to WvW tonight as my Guardian and take out my frustration on every other class until I am satisfied or Anet do something that I can be proud of though something tells me I’m more likely to kill the entire Server 300 times over before the later happens.
Happy hunting all!

You would probably have more success if you instead target the harmless woodland “white NPC” creatures such as owls, bunny rabbits, and other said creatures. Of course, P.E.T.A will complain to Arena Net. And, well, you know what happens next.
Happy hunting all!
Not sure what is on the agenda tonight. I’ve been thinking about trying out a burning build just for giggles. If that doesn’t seem to work then I’ll be roaming the blood lust section playing the height game of…punting people off high ledges with hammer/banish or sword/shield…

i invested too much time into him… we need some gemstore item for class changing

Yeah, I noticed this – anyone been able to comfirm what the actual condition duration decrease is in practice?
You guys can join us eles in the struggle against the condition meta. I have a guardian too, but I never roam with him because of the amounts of condition spam necros…
I see they buffed consecrations. They are good in an organized team fight, but shouts are great anywhere.

It’s 4 seconds

If I’m successful after this update I might as well solve the meaning of life while I’m at it and discover a way to create the ‘Perfect omelet’ at the same time.

1) They give the Rabbits 5 seconds of Fury to compete with us.
2) There is nothing more elegant than playing a game of Golf with a Hammer and an unsuspecting Asura.
