Hey guys so i have 40 laurels and im wondering which trinket to get, im using a guardian Mace/shield + GS combo for tanking but my main question is should i get an amulet, ring etc because im hearing its a waste to get rings. And to clarify i dont have any ascended trinkets yet.

EDIT: Im also going to hit 2000 achievement points so i will be getting 200 badges of honor, i have 50 already so ill have 250 badges of honor. So im not sure what the best course of action for me is… ill have 40 laurels and 250 badges of honor… do i spend 35 laurels and get a trinket and save the badges or what… im lost

Well, the main point in any ascended gear would be if you plan on doing fractals.

Thus, if you are doing fractals, you should be able to get your rings and back piece from fractals.

That leaves the amulet and earrings, however, the earrings can be acquired for MUCH less using guild commendations at the guild vender, and its not worth spending laurels on them.

That leaves the amulet, which you can get from WvW, using 25 laurels+250 badges, which is the cheapest and most effective way to get an ascended amulet.

P.S. I really do recommend going with berserker ascended gear, there is no “Tank/Healer” role in this game, and by going anything other then DPS you will be contributing a lot less to the party (full berserker offers pretty much the same utility/support as full cleric or soldiers, however, you will be doing MUCH, MUCH more damage, as well as becoming better at playing the class (using berserker gear will require you to become a better player, as to not die))

As mentioned above, if you’re tanking, you’re hurting your team’s DPS, which means fights last longer, which means there’s more chance your team will wipe. You can still be a team player via your utilities.

Get rid of that mace. Replace with a sword or even a scepter.

You want to end up with as much zerker gear as your skill will allow you to wear. You can use PVT gear as training wheels.

Definitely use badges — you won’t find any better use for them.

Depends on what content you play most. Berserker is always a safe bet. Go Zerker trinkets then soldier armor and weapon for WvW. Then when you play PvE you just switch to Zerker gear.

I would say Harbringer post unless you like to play a “support” role in WvWvW

In that case cleric trinkets for WvWvW. I find a hammer/staff cleric trinket support guardian way more effective with higher DPS teammates

And I wouldn’t buy the 40 Laurel trinkets. Do guild missions with a guild and get the commendations. You can get 6 each week if your guild does them all. 12 commendations buys an earring

I’d also suggest Knight armor if you want a set for both areas of play. It’s a good middle ground for someone who doesn’t like carrying multiple sets (such as myself).

^this,or at least mix zerker with other gear.

For trinkets, don’t use laurels.

You can get an ascended trinket for 12 guild commendations + 5 gold.

Every week, you can do 4 guild missions that reward 6 commendations in total. Takes about 60-90 minutes.

So in 1 month, of about 4-6 hours of play, you’ll have your two ascended trinkets!

Save your laurels for the Amulet, it’s the only way to get it. 20 laurels + 250 badges of honor.
