Healer Guardian
Best advice I can give you: Don’t
Best advice I can give you: Do. See? I can do it too.
Signet of courage is pretty lack luster.
Mainly because the healing done is once every 10 seconds.
This is because in the space of 10 seconds you or your ally can get nuked down or pop your/their own heal and get topped off rather easily.
If it were a smaller amount of healing but every second -every 2 seconds then it would be much better.
Guardians aren’t meant to be healers, they are mean to give passive healing, boons, condition removal, defenses, etc.
Druids and perhaps event Herald fill in the healer role better.
you can build DH to be a very good healer imo. It is still questionable though if others are not better fit for the job. (note that i do take about 25%+ heling effectiveness into account)
lets look at the good stuff:
Selfless Daring
pumping out 2.2k+ heals on dodge is quite possible which means you would want to use sigils that refill your endurance on dodge or kill. it takes 13 seconds to recharge an empty endurance bar (with vigor) so lets round up sigil of energy to
400 sec/hp
Empower
3.5k heals on a 16 sec CD + might which are not that well liked since they are short
218hp/sec
Wings of resolve
6k heal on a 26 sec CD + 2k over 6 seconds regeneration
300hp/sec
Recieve the light
8k heal if you hit you friends
200hp/sec
F2 passiv
up to 250hp/sec if traited
Writ of perisistance
up to 240hp/sec if traited
Regeneration
with mace easyily 100% uptime of 350hp/sec
signet of Courage
170hp/sec … pretty underwhelming but okay
Faithful Strike
300 hp/sec
adding time:
Around 2.400 hp/sec is possible
I have no clue how this compares to druid or elementalist. I would say it works but you will not do anything else besides healing. Personally I think that if you can chain 3 dodges and a wings o resolve you have the means to creat a good burst heal of around 12-14k. thats not to shabby. while you are able to do good sustained healing.
Counting the long cast of signet of courage as viable and pairing those two options with the shield of courage and we are looking at 2 possible full burst heals on top of that.
in addition to aegis which helps a team rcover as well.
so you can make it count if you ask me.
HOWEVER:
just checking druids avatar form briefly tells you that they will outburst and sustain heal you in no time.
so the impressiv numbers on guard are kinda worthless if you see the massiv numbers of druid. if you want to heal roll druid – its a lot of fun.
If you try it with DH you need to focus on getting the heals to stick and make true recoveries through your blocks which other do not have.

The two things I want to point out both deal with Wings of Resolve’s HP/s. You include Regeneration as part of the calculation, but you also state the 100% upkeep from Symbol of Faith. Since Regeneration does not stack intensity, the HP/s of Wings of Resolve would be lower. In addition, you appear to have calculated Virtue of Resolve’s passive and Wing’s of Resolve’s active in the same total. If you are using Wing’s of Resolve, you are not receiving the passive healing of Virtue of Resolve. Your total healing should drop to around 2080HP/s.
Disclaimer: I main Guardian. I am the primary tank in my guild and usually an Elementalist healer when supporting other groups (more difficult to obtain a healer).
My Elementalist does not have the most Healing Power I can obtain. I do not have Ferocious Tuning Crystals, 25 stacks of Sigil of Life (not realistic in Raids), or full Ascended gear (actually, none).
- Water Blast heals allies near my target for ~1.1k every 1.35 seconds (835HP/s)
- Soothing Mist heals around me for ~680HP/s.
- Cleansing Wave on dodge every 10 seconds for ~5k (500HP/s)
- Geyser every 13.34 seconds for ~5k (375HP/s)
- Overload Water for ~8.9k over four seconds (523HP/s)
- Four auras heal for ~2.1k each with an average cooldown of 45 seconds (187HP/s)
- Regeneration at 100% upkeep for ~360HP/s
- Wash the Pain Away heals for ~10.6k (424HP/s)
Before I give the total, I need to factor the loss from auto-attacking for using any of these abilities. Approximately half of the time is spent using other abilities with cast times, so Water Blast’s healing is reduced by half.
The final result is approximately 3,467HP/s. Guardians are no where close it the best in healing. I will say this, however. Guardian healers will deal more damage than Elementalist healers. The question then becomes whether or not the damage makes up for the loss.
The biggest benefits to guardian healers are their burst healing and the practicality of their healing. Druids and water eles both have superior sustain, although I’d argue that druids have the least practical healing of all due to the various downsides on their healing (for example, the detonation time on Seed of Life often makes it impractical).
Is there honestly any reason to use Signet of Courage over Feel My Wrath? The active effect of SoC is great and all but on a 180 second CD, and with a 10 second ICD on the passive, it’s really not that great.
6 seconds of quickness and 12 seconds of Fury on a 36 second cooldown (traited for CD/condition conversion) just seems to offer far more utility and, ultimately, outweigh the potential benefit that SoC would give.
Please, correct me if I’m wrong. I want to like SoC…

Also, don’t forget the 4.5 seconds of cast time on Signet of Courage. This elite is very underwhelming. Have too much cast time, have too much CD, and the passive heals too low and have too longer CD than should.
You don’t need that much healing tbh. I play a druid healer in PuGs and I easily downed the Vale Guardian with magi/berserker gear (armor+weapons/trinkets). You need even less healing for Gorseval.
The big problem all the other healers (ele, rev and guard) have is:
You don’t offer a huge DPS boost while healing at the same time. Personal DPS doesn’t make up for it. That’s why a lot of PuGs want druids atm. They’re rather easy to play (imo), heal a lot and offer crazy DPS boosts for the party while their pets deal decent damage. All of that in just 1 build.
I’m not trying to discourage you, I would actually love to see a good guardian healer beating all 3 bosses. It’s just something to keep in mind.
Really tempted to try it out… though I get that ele, druid and reve, might be a better choice.. just love the guard playstyle more and more.. and how awesome is wing of resolve! Love them new virtues, except courage.. to op, and visual not pleasing.
You can combine the Healer and Tank roles to open up 9dps slots. In that regard, Guardian is fantastic. Guardians combine both sustain healing (hots) and burst healing (Receive the Light/Wings of Resolve).
If your dpsers are a bit self-sustainable, you could run something like WoW lfg super queuer. You’ve got some damage, tank ability, and some good healing. If just one dps can off-heal with you, or if everyone ranged can share a bit of healing amongst themselves you’d almost have 10 dps. A lot of raid builds aren’t really plug-n-play. You need to create a comp built around what you have. There are a lot of things that can work if you look for the synergy.
snip.
you are 100% right.
ou also assume soothing mist uptime 100% which is not likely if you calculate a blast finisher every 1.2 secs (or am I missing something here) however I would never debate that eles can heal much better. getting exact numbers is quite the work and I think the roughly estimates show well enough what it looks like on paper. and even though it sounds impressi 2.4k HP /sec is not that great.

while guardians have some nice aoe healing they can give around them selfs i think the best use for all of their healing skills as well as weapon skills are best if used on self.
That being said you end up having a super tanky and a super sustainable heavy armored character.
I think i calculated an average of 1400hp/s when i was playing around with the web build editor with a “support” mace/shield staff guardian
