[vT] Violent Tendencies
Runes for WvW Build. Dolyak/Soldier/Melandru
[vT] Violent Tendencies
Traveler (or Speed if you’re on a budget).
Because we’re Guardians, and everybody gets a 25% move speed Signet or Trait except us.
Whit your build I see only 23% critical rate and you’re not able to obtain fury.
I agree whit Ludus.
There’s only 2 class that can’t obtain passive speed buff: Guardian and Engi. But engi can obtain permanente swiftness.
Whit more speed you can escape from your enemy or follow your group easy.
I agree whit Ludus.

Actually, Engineers have this now. Power Shoes got fixed to work outside of combat. Guess they decided that it was unfair for Engineers not to have 25% run speed activate all the time on their trait, since everyone else has access to this.
Yup…everybody else…

He’s probably counting on food and sigil

Correct. Food and sigil bring it up to 37%. The idea was to be tanky but put out some spike damage with the high crit dmg.

Dolyak is a no. This rune is almost worthless. Heals 30 HP every second, not even close to being useful
Soldier or Melandru is a bit tougher. However I’d go with Melandru. Eventually in a fight, all your shouts will be on CD. This means you’ll have no condition removers. With Melandru, when your shouts are on CD. You’ll at least be reducing condition duration until your shouts come back up. If you weren’t running PoV then Soldier would be better.
Heavens Rage
Melandru still worth it even though im running -40% condi duration foods?

Yes it stacks. So it would be -65% condition duration.

I never leave home w/o them.

Mesmer’s also don’t have a OOC movement buff… Let’s not forget about that.
Soldier all the way. The condition removal is a life saver.
depends what you intend to use this build for in WvW as well. if you’ll most likely be running with folk, and always running a full shout bar, maybe soldier runes are more for you.
thuogh, melandru with – condi duration food is very strong as well. and if eel SLIGHTLY more flexible, because you’re not “missing out” on the 6th rune bonus from soldier’s when you’re not running full shouts. but maybe i’m just nit picking.
Akaigi | Warrior Made of Wood
[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
All valid points. Thanks for the feedback. I dont know that ill run more than two shouts. Purging flames condi removal + fire field is too valuable for solo and group play.

I’ll have to give my vote for Melandru also. -67% duration is nothing to sneeze at in WvW, and it’ll let you completely forget about most conditions period. With PoV, you can actively get rid of whatever does manage to stick around for too long.
Also, for damage, I personally like Citadel runes for the 30s fury. 5/6 is good enough with a ruby orb, but sometimes the bomb damage can be helpful, just throwing that out there. (they’re also super cheap)
I got rid of my Soldier runes for Melandru, and it was worth it.
Yak’s Bend
Why bother being a Guardian if you don’t guard anyone?
how about 2 water 2 monk 2 travelers for the boon duration? Anyone feel that competes with melandru/soldiers?

not in the slightest. Boon duration doesn’t really help you live longer, most boons just get stripped
I play when I can and help who I can
I would say probably only for a pure support guardian, but its not terribly viable in WvW unless you only group play and even then….
[vT] Violent Tendencies
okey, thanks. Gonna pick up some melandru’s then I think
Melandru seems to be the favourite even though we lack speed.
I agree whit Ludus.

’cept for mesmers.

Oh, really? Huh, got me. Somehow I really thought they had access to this through a trait somewhere. I guess I owe Mesmers an apology.
Somebody give us and Mesmers a freakin’ mobility trait already!

Cheap and underestimated. I have both melandru and these and unless going commander these are better since they add damage as well.
