And I too like the current iteration of Cleansing Flame.
The lack of ranged abilities makes the guardian terrible as a ranged profession.
The abilities need some changes in order to be useful and enjoyable!
Thanks for the input but I would argue that 99% of Guardians do not play the class to it’s fullest. You stat scepter/tourch go togethor? The weapons do not sync at all. try sword torch and scepter shield it’s much better combo.
I HATE your idea for my beloved torch 5 I hit for around 8k-10k with my tourch 5, it is our second most bursty skill we have and you want to change it? You like 99% of guards just don’t know how to use it.. Oh and not to mention it is the most beautiful skill i have ever used in any MMO.
may I ask you why you chose a guardian if you want a ranged profession?
If they buff scepter, lol I will be unstoppable i already hit Very high DPS with it’s current configuration.
Most of the complaints like this are from people who want to have HUGE defense and Big hits too, well you can’t have both take your pick. I would like to see a viable condi build for the guardian and a re-work of Staff abilities as priority and mabey a couple more changes to retaliation stacking as it’s just lazy and takes no skill.
The scepter #1 doesn’t need more damage, it can do a ton of damage if the projectiles connect. The issue is that they don’t connect at far distances on moving targets. As it is right now, the scepter is a sub 600 range weapon for kiting moving targets, or for hitting tower cannons and the like.
I agree with StugLyfe, that I never felt that the scepter and torch fit well together. I always used it with either a sword or mace. I love Cleaning Flame, leave it alone.

You got the part about skill 2 being a symbol right but skill 1 needs to be changed so it gets to its target faster, I suggested transforming it into a beam, however the Torch is absolutely fine and designed to be used as a melee weapon, It doesnt need any changes

I think Smite should be a Symbol too! It would make the scepter way better!

2 – Ground symbol that burns (larger area) and considered a symbol, so it can get the trait benefits, such as “Symbols are larger” and "Symbols last longer

Cleansing Flame is pure awesome. No need to change. Plus, Guardians already have the skill you suggest. Lots of them:
Fire field with stability – Hallowed Ground
AOE with area purge condition – Purging Flames
AOE with purge individual condition – Smite Condition
What you suggest exists as a Ranger torch skill:
Fire symbol with burning condition – Bonfire
The Scepter field idea is really good. Right now, Scepter 2 – Smite is the only aoe ground field that doesn’t actually leave a field. Make it fire, and Guard would have fire combo. I like it. Would make scepter more desireable instead of the blah it currently is.
I’m pretty sure this guys a troll after his last comment, too stupid to be for real.
Both are bad, but I’d say mace is a bit better depending on your build. Before I get flamed about calling both mace and sword bad, hear me out. The reasoning is the lack of combo fields/finishers with both weapons. Mace has one but its completely circumstantial, protector’s strike gives a whirl finisher if you do not get hit. But the chances of that happening is rather low.
Combos are big in groups and I mean big. And both weapons are lacking them, I feel they need them to be adequate along with the scepter. For now I’d say both are more solo weapons than weapons you take while in a group.

1: No, I would rather the animation be more on par with the Mesmer’s Scepter #1. Make it a chain. 1st attack uses the current animation shooting a semi-homing projectile, 2nd attack uses a back handed swing animation that shoots a semi-homing projectile and the 3rd attack has the Guardian raise the scepter into the air and calls down a targetted lightning bolt to smite the enemy.
2: No, it needs an improvement but it would become overpowered if it was a Symbol. It would be too much for it to get increased damage from both Symbolic Power and Scepter Power, apply Vulnerability with Symbolic Exposure, increase the radius with Writ of Exaltation, increase the duration with Writ of Persistence and heal everyone with Writ of the Merciful. All of that combined would be an immense damage boost for it and make the weapon almost required.
3: Agree it needs no changes.
4: I only wish that this skill worked with Inner Fire. Kind of sucks that you light yourself on fire but do not get the Fury boon since you technically do not have the Burning condition on you.
5: No, perfect skill as is! Great damage and has wonderful group synergy.
I would like to see the Scepter Power trait get boosted so that it gives a 15% movement speed boost. We are one of the few classes with no passive way to increase our movement speed and we overall are one of the slowest moving professions which seems detrimental since we are a tank and should be able to get to our allies quickly so as to aid them!
I also think the Radiant Fire trait for the Torch should increase Endurance recovery. The soothing warmth of the Torch would make sense to give Guardians greater Endurance regain.
